map of US social and cultural regions i made that you can use if you want to start a fight

thanks for the question! this is an incorrect map i made to be frustrating and perplexing to look at

i had just thrown this toy and it was in the process of hitting the ground but the pic makes it look like it’s alive and it’s just realizing it picked a fight it can’t win

i was feeling silly at the gas station today so i said to the cashier that i’ll take my gas “to go” and i could see her imagining what it would be like to jump over the counter and strangle me to death

drove past a hotel and they had a pretty big digital message board and I glanced over and almost had a fucking stroke while driving because it was just playing this gif

I’M GOING TO LOSE IT IT WASN’T FOR MOTHER’S DAY THEY JUST HAVE THE FUCKING DANCING BABY 24/7

WE WENT??? ITS THERE???

happy summer to dykes in tank tops and basketball shorts, goths who's makeup is melting, little kids catching frogs and fireflies, guys who just bring their guitar everywhere now, 13 yr olds very obviously in their emo phase during a family vacation, gas station employees, old people sitting on porches, and dogs swimming at the beach

So I bought one of these old Dolly Maker Boutiques from 1995 to relive some childhood nostalgia with my sister for my birthday and uh.

it went Bad

alright so during into the spider-verse's introduction to peter b. parker, we see his wedding, and he stomps on the wine glass right? this is a jewish wedding tradition, which makes this version of peter parker jewish (further confirmed in interviews -- however, i believe this is enough by itself). it's a nice nod to the jewish roots of the character.

we get to see a bunch of peter parkers throughout the spider-verse films, and none of them have any explicit religious associations like peter b. parker. except for one!

here we have gwen stacy's peter parker and aunt may, from earth-65, saying grace over a meal. from my understanding, this is generally a christian practice -- in judaism, we prefer to say short prayers before eating, and save the long, in-depth ones for afterwards. so to me, this was a clear example of the character being coded as christian. i was a little disappointed that they didn't make peter parker jewish here too, but since across the spider-verse discusses variants and the differences between instances of the same person between different universes, i interpreted this as a continued commentary on peter parker's ethnicity -- although he was initially jewish-coded and one of his two creators, stan lee, is jewish, this is often erased, especially in more modern interpretations of the character.

and then i remembered that this peter parker also literally turns into the lizard.

and y'know what? good call on that one guys.

one thing about me is i frickin love long ass youtube videos about the most random and niche topics imaginable. defunctland's investigation into who created the disney channel theme song? oh i was seated. a two hour breakdown on the lore of the entire tekken video game franchise? sign me up. a vlog about a cross-country roadtrip dining at every single rainforest cafe in the united states? i'm there.

Imagine a world where homosexuality was still in the DSM but society had moved gradually toward some moderate acceptance of queer people, but only with the understanding that we are sick and that leading out our queer lives is medically necessary for us. in this paradigm, a person would have to get diagnosed with homosexuality by a psychiatrist in order to be permitted to have gay sex

this is basically the reality that trans people are living in right now. and that's for those of us that are lucky enough to live in a place where we *are* allowed to lead out trans lives once we get gender dysphoria written down in our medical charts

.....what?

So like doctors should just blindly accept when people tell them they are trans and hand out hrt and surgeries with no questions asked?
