My name is Abigail im 17 years old and an Aquarius. I like what I like and you can either like it too or you can not like it (see what I did there, I stated the obvious) I'm weird and slightly insane but what's the fun in being normal, right?!

An experiment:

Reblog if, at some point in your educational life, you have gotten in trouble for reading a book that ‘wasn’t assigned to you’ or reading ahead in a book you were given in class or reading under your desk

On the morning of September 4, 1957, fifteen-year-old Dorothy Counts set out on a harrowing path toward Harding High, where-as the first African American to attend the all-white school – she was greeted by a jeering swarm of boys who spat, threw trash, and yelled epithets at her as she entered the building.

Charlotte Observer photographer Don Sturkey captured the ugly incident on film, and in the days that followed, the searing image appeared not just in the local paper but in newspapers around the world.

People everywhere were transfixed by the girl in the photograph who stood tall, her five-foot-ten-inch frame towering nobly above the mob that trailed her. There, in black and white, was evidence of the brutality of racism, a sinister force that had led children to torment another child while adults stood by. While the images display a lot of evils: prejudice, ignorance, racism, sexism, inequality, it also captures true strength, determination, courage and inspiration.

Love their reactions. They aren’t worried about being emasculated, they aren’t insecure, they are just genuinely impressed that she’s lifting like a beast!

just gonna leave this here…

it was never really about health

People dont realise or even care about the amount of damage they can do to a person. This amazing women faced one of her biggest fears and instead of getting the support and encouragement she deserved all people care about is the fact that her outer appearance isnt how the would like. There really is no hope for people that dont have basic common sense and all i can really say is to the woman in the picture. You go girl! Dont listen to the haters, its your life and what matters is that you are happy. I personally think that facing your fears is one of the most difficult things a person can do so you are amazing for even just trying and the fact that you succeeded is even greater.
