James T Kirk did not say “leave your bigotry in your quarters, there’s no room for it on the bridge.” in 1966 for any bigots to love Star Trek. Get out of the fandom you’re not welcome here.
that two min conversation between bones and spock in the tos episode with the romans and televised gladiator fights is to me thee most insane canon/non-movie spirk moment like. im so sorry to the baddest bitch in the series (city on the edge of forever) but nothing in that is anything compared to ".......really doctor? 🤨"
TOS 2x25 BREAD AND CIRCUSES YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS
STAR TREK II: the wrath of khan (1982)
Spock: Captain Kirk is as immutable as the laws of gravity. He could never be cruel or panic. He is too good, too pure, the platonic ideal of a person. Captain Kirk is perfect and I love him
The court he’s standing in: …..ok but like you can’t enter that as a fact into evidence, you know that right? Like you know we can’t enter your crush as imperial fact right?
Spock: illogical. Just look at him
"you almost make me believe in luck" "you almost make me believe in miracles" HELLO????? ARE YOU SERIOUS??????? AT WORK???????????

the generational range of star trek is so nuts to me like you have peepaw talking about how captain kirk was his childhood hero back when televisions had a foot long diameter and then you have teens on tumblr making powerpoint presentations about why spock was the patient zero for catboys
fellas is it gay to have to have a whole new word invented to describe your relationship to your first officer
Sometimes Star Trek TOS is just a Klingon woman next to a Klingon man, and the man saying: "My wife Mara, and my science officer". And then the camera shows Kirk and Spock next to each other. In silence, just staring at the ship commander/science officer married couple in front of them. We're probably supposed to think about something, but the show goes on. No explanation.
the scene at the end of every tos episode:
kirk: :v spock: :l kirk: :c spock: :j kirk: :D
I've been having a LOT of fun watching TOS (the only Star Trek I know) and reading your comments on fanfiction. I left a couple comments there but maybe you're more active here. I'm curious about your opinion about Shatner's interview on the first movie (in particular where he discusses thyla and K/S shipping). As if, he kind of denies it... but not exactly? The interview itself is easy to find in youtube (I don't think I can link it here). Just curious about your interpretation.
Shatner has since then made it abundantly clear that the idea of Kirk actually being bi is silly and would never ever happen, which contradicts a lot of his more accepting behavior in previous years/decades. At this point he's one step away from asking why people are trying to make Star Trek political in general--because he hasn't watched his own show in at least thirty years and fanon has combined with old age to create a series and character that never existed. Now dudebros are clinging to him as the last bastion against all those weird liberals who keep trying to tell them Star Trek was designed to be politically progressive from day one and it's THEM who are being weird.
Stark Trek: The Original Series • 1.18 ‣ The Squire of Gothos ↳ Oh, Mister Spock, you do have one saving grace after all. You’re ill-mannered. The human half of you, no doubt.
…So sad.
She was a sweet lady, and we’ll miss her.
[Start ID: three gifs from the Wrath of Kahn. Kirk and Spock are talking in Spock’s room.]
Kirk: “I would not presume to debate you. ”
Spock: “that is wise. ”
Kirk: Kirk responds by looking at Spock and smiling. /end ID]
for the record i think that spock is gay and not attracted to women at all and i will never waver in that belief. but there was never any chance that snw was going to give us gay spock. he is star trek’s golden boy and they will never depict him as anything other than straight. taking the frustration of that out on t’pring isn’t going to change that or help anybody.
