Introducing my two new hard enamel pins! 

The first design is based on my Selkie illustration. — “Male selkies are described as being very handsome in their human form, and having great seductive powers over humans. They typically seek those who are dissatisfied with their lives. If a someone wishes to make contact with a selkie male, they must shed seven tears into the sea.“💧

The second design is based on my Hufflepuff Badger illustration. As a Hufflepuff myself, I’ll definitely be wearing mine to show some Hufflepuff Pride but I also love the folklore surrounding the badger — "In folklore, the badger is regarded as the keeper of stories in the animal kingdom and was revered for its wisdom, strength, courage and persistence. In the past, the badger was also thought to have magical powers as it was nocturnal." 🌿

This indie designer is exposing her legal battle with Zara over allegedly stolen designs

Los Angeles-based clothing and accessories designer Tuesday Bassen is at odds with Zara over the alleged theft of her designs. Tuesday night, Bassen posted an excerpt of Zara’s response to a cease-and-desist notice her attorney sent the giant corporate fashion house alongside comparative images of the pins and patches in question.

Soon, the hashtag #SupportTuesdayBassen surfaced on social media with her followers tweeting at Zara and bombarding the fashion house’s Instagram account with hundreds of comments. But as others pointed out on Wednesday, this is hardly the first time Zara has been accused of blatantly ripping off young, lesser-known designers.

Companies of earth, you should have a higher standard of conduct than “we’re too large and well funded for you to challenge.”

Introducing my first ever enamel pin! They arrived today and I couldn’t be more pleased, they’re lovely! 

The design is based on my ‘White Rabbit, Black Rabbit’ folklore illustration. “In parts of Britain, people say ‘Black rabbits, black rabbits, black rabbits’ in the closing seconds of the old year. Then they say, ‘White rabbits, white rabbits, white rabbits,’ as their first utterance of the New Year. This is suppose to bring good luck.” 

Pin size is approximately 30mm at its widest point. Each pin is made with hard enamel so the colours sits flush with the metal for a smooth finish.

after looong time I drew something for Illustration friday! this week theme’s treasure, so I drew knight and magician that are going to fight with dragon who’s guarding great treasure :3

My two pieces of work for the Light Grey Art Lab, Patches + Stitches show, opening tonight (3rd July) at 7pm in Minneapolis! 

Go along to see some of the incredible stitching, by a truly talented bunch of folks. I’m honoured to have been a part of it. 

We just wanted to let you know that we are so touched by the positive response and support that we have received from all of you guys! You can’t know how appreciative we are. <3 We have received some incredible submissions so far, and we are still accepting submissions through June 30! So get your application in if you haven’t yet; you only have a few more weeks! You can find all of the guidelines for applying on our website at www.feministfiberart.com/submitart. 

Any artist that identifies as a woman is welcome to apply to this exhibition. You do not need to be based in Boston or exclusively a fiber artist. Your work does not need to explicitly have a feminist agenda either - we are considering all submissions regardless of content. We are also accepting submissions from artists that identify as male for the zine that we are creating to accompany the exhibit. We are calling it Men Can Make Kickass Fiber Art Too. We decided to organize this exhibit because we are frustrated by how under-represented female artists are in the art world! We wanted to empower women artists and were particularly inspired by the Guerrilla Girls’ statistic that less than 3% of the artists in the Met’s Modern Art sections are women, but 83% of the nudes are females. Women shouldn’t have to be naked to get into an exhibit! 

So far we have confirmed the incredible artists Alaina Varrone, Sally Hewett, Ýrúrarí, Jess De Wahls, Mia Cross, Michelle Gauthier and Adipocere. We still have space to accommodate more artists, so don’t be shy, submit!   

We have big, badass plans for this exhibit! It is traveling through alternative art spaces in Greater Boston for several months, beginning with an opening in Somerville on August 14. We are totally throwing down for the opening party, with work installed in three dope locations in Somerville, alcohol served at every venue, and bands fronted by bad bitches that will be performing. The headlining band, Dent, will be wearing costumes handmade by our featured artist, Ýrúrarí. I’m a super geek so i decided to draw my boyfriend and myself as classic Universal Monsters from Hallowe’en. Adam is the the Wolf-Man from the 1941 film of the same name and I’m the Gill-Man from the1954 film The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Creeping it real!
