My Characters Stonebreaker Blog (original fiction)

Stonebreaker Sideblog

Hello darlings!

Just in case anyone happens to be interested, I have created a sideblog for my original fantasy work, Stonebreaker. You can find it, as well as links to its tag and character page, HERE.

While I’ll still answer some Stonebreaker-related prompts on this blog, majority of my original writing or unprompted pieces will be on the new one. This is mainly because it is indexed much better and gives me a space where I feel more comfortable playing around with my characters and story without fear of annoying people who didn’t sign up for it (which is totally fair - no judgement here).

Anyway, if you’d like, please feel free to join me over in the Stonebreaker sideblog! Also feel free to leave a reply if you have an original fiction project/sideblog as well ;)

you don't just "play" final fantasy 14 you either tried it and it wasn't your sort of game so you never touched it again, or you kept playing it and it fundamentally changed you as a person and irreversibly altered your brain chemistry

or you have never played it but you have friends who play it, and you've seen what it does to them and now you're terrified to touch it

i had friends whispering into my ears like succubus demons. telling me that i should try this fun, cheerful, casual game. wondering if i knew that there was a free trial up to level sixty. promising me tales of group gameplay and adventures with friends that i could take advantage of with no restrictions on play time. those bastards watched as i gave in, giggling behind their hands like scheming courtesans in kdramas orchestrating their rival’s downfall. they roared with sadistic joy as the game ran me over like a freight train of emotions and left my battered corpse lying in a pool of my own tears

my brain chemistry is forever altered. and now i go on

climbing onto a new friends shoulder to whisper in their ear and ask if they’ve heard of the critically acclaimed mmorpg

been thinking a lot about anticipatory grief lately. i love you so much that i know losing you will devastate me. i haven't lost you yet but i already miss you. we still have time, but it won't be enough. i think about what i would say at your funeral, and say some of it to you now cause i need you to know how loved you are before you go. you will go where i cannot follow, but you will never really leave me. it won't make it hurt less but it is a part of healing somehow.

Ubers charge more if you order them from certain places, like bars where they know you have no choice if you’re drunk. Walk somewhere else just not anywhere that serves alcohol and then call for one. I’ve had my $40 dollar Uber go down to $20 before but it’s not always that dramatic.

That’s great information! Lumbridge home teleport costs 0gp every 30 minutes.

“this is a compilation of all of my fics from different fandoms—”

Make them separate fics. I’m begging you. I can’t keep scrolling past that one fic with 115 fandoms and 75 chapters of one-sentence drabbles. I can’t.

yessss please 👏 stop 👏 compiling 👏 fics

not just for your readers’ sakes but for yours as well! because people search for fics based on tags & other search parameters right? so if you have a bunch of tags for a bunch of unrelated fics all lumped together people won’t even see your fic of their OTP if they excluded a tag that applies to one of your other chapters. Or maybe you rated the compilation as Explicit because some of the fics are but there’s also a g-rated drabble in the mix. This means no one who’s searching for g-rated fics will ever see that one sweet drabble of yours. Or maybe someone is just looking for short fics & set the word count to 5000 or fewer (as I often do) & they’ll never see your story since your whole compilation is well above that. Or maybe someone just checked the box exclude crossovers (as I also often do) & they won’t see any of your fics bc you’ve tagged multiple fandoms.

bottom line is: please post each fic or drabble as a separate work and then use series or collections to link them together. this makes everyone’s lives so much easier & we can all go on happily enjoying our fiction together ✨✨

Seren: I didn’t know you could dance... Estinien: I... took lessons. Seren: What -- when?! Estinien: Not too long after I met you. You used to love it, before... Seren: ... I think I just found a way to fall in love with it all over again.

In a display of stunning stupidity, I never shared this commission that I got from @biteghost, which I have been screaming about for months because no joke, it is the single most accurate depiction of Alex and Tahir that I have ever seen. Look at the snark! The camaraderie! The general sense of exasperated fondness! I smiled for DAYS, y’all. DAYS. Please check out her work and her webcomic because both are absolutely kick ass!!

every time i see a tweet like this i think “why do you play with people like this”. like why is dnd play culture so bad that this is an Archetypal Type of Guy they all seem to recognise. can you imagine tweeting this about any other hobby?? ‘musicians: what do you do about the guy in your band who screams I HATE MUSIC and tries to eat the drumsticks every rehearsal’

Two things

  • Your dialogue isn’t that good and the players are bored, they need enrichment to keep from destroying things (like cats)
  • You aren’t killing them enough.

have you tried playing with people you like and respect instead

make one of those innocent npcs the next Big Bad. they cross someone they really shouldn’t have, get their asses beat, and have to go on a journey of humility or growth or whatever

your paying with a tiger but you’ve provided no meat pumpkin. makes sense that they’d attack unintended targets

no! don’t do that! don’t treat a fun game of make-believe you play with your friends as a Mind War you have to defeat them in! just talk to them!!

Yeah the DM vs Players crap is super off-putting and generally weird for like. A fun activity with friends.

Like if everyone is on the same page, having a stabby guy and huge in-world consequences can be fun! But that’s the sort of thing everyone has to be into, or else it just inspires spitefulness. Which makes everyone freaking miserable

Everyone in the notes of this post proposing solutions or talking about how authoritative GMs who don’t want you to ruin their perfectly railroaded scenes are a bigger problem has a PhD in missing the fucking point.
