Embarrassing Story Time

Kay so once I walked into class and noticed a new girl by my chair. Being the extrovert I am(I know, we’re a rare breed), I immediately go up and try to strike up a convo with her. Things are going great, she’s real pretty and nice, but I notice her English isn’t too good. She’s obviously central American with her tan skin and dark hair, so I ask her where she’s from. She tells me she’s from Puerto Rico. 

And like the idiot I am, I ask: “So how much Portuguese do you speak?”

Lol, what notes?

I have a genuine problem with taking notes??? Like, I just absorb all the information, but I still want a paper copy of EVERYTHING bc I love paper copies. And it’s not like I’m not good at writing; I’m an author. It’s just I have THE IDEA of what I want the notes I take to look like and if I can’t get my handwriting nice enough or if I don’t have the exact number of examples or quotes or whatnot that I want, I just give up.

WD Wheeler

Kay so my headcanon on WD Wheeler, or Anne’s brother, is that he actually has a wife(Her name is Sarah in my head) who was immensely pretty. He won her trust by treating her kindly and respecting her more than anyone ever had before in her life. Eventually, they got married and had a few kids, but their master repeatedly forced himself on Sarah. Eventually, WD got the opportunity to run away to the north and was forced to leave her to take care of the kids. He spent all the years leading up to Barnum trying to earn enough money to bring her north. Finally, he comes back at the close of the Civil War, knowing that Sarah and all his children are free and they’re luckily all still together. 

But to sum all this up WD had an especially hard time trusting Phillip with his sister because every woman in his life has been hurt by a white man (Anne is obviously mixed race, guys. This is 1850, the chances of her coming into the world with happiness and love are kinda slim.)

What’s so good about America

I dunno, but everyone calls us the land of opportunity. All I see is a rising heap of debt, a school system who hates its clients, a healthcare system trying to kill us, a legal system polluted with lies and loopholes, and politicians who act exactly like the bad guys in the dystopian novels I read. You know, like Cornelius Fudge and Snow and Jeanine Matthews. We don’t even sound like a land of opportunity. We oppress everyone and everything new. All I really know is I need to get the heck out of America before it kills me.
