on and off. on and off. on and off. each time, breaking her a little more. the pain felt like somebody ripping her heart out of her chest and squeezing it until it was no more. beating her down with his words. the lifting her back up onto her feet, just barely alive. and when she had enough strength to fight again, he would beat her down, again and again. “i love you,” he would say, only to turn around and say it to another girl too. “there’s nobody else.” he would say. only she knew he was lying. he would push her away. and sometimes so hard, that she would have a hard time fighting to get back up again. “maybe it would just be easier to just give up.” she thought to herself. he made her feel so alone. so worthless. crumpling her up like a thin piece of paper, throwing it away, only to pick it right back up and try to make it look new again. but everyone knows, once you damage something so fragile, it’s impossible to put it back to its original beauty and worth.

she thought her loved her, but he didn’t. the hugs, the kisses, the cuddles, the kind words, had no meaning. The good morning and goodnight texts, he thought were a waste of time, while she looked forward to them every day, and every night. the compliments made her start to love herself again, while the words he spoke, were all made of lies. her smiles were real, his were never true. the more he spoke, the less he cared. the more words she heard, the more she fell in love. the harder she fell, the more hurt piled up, waiting to catch her when she fell. he became more distant. she was ignored. she became suspicious, and started asking questions. he told her, “nothing’s wrong, i love you”. but with every hug, more passion was lost. she tried to come up with excuses, or reasons to why he was pushing her out. for if she didn’t find an answer soon, she would be totally shut and locked out. and when the time was gone, so was he. he left her all alone, and broken. the frowns turned into tears, the tears turned into cuts, and if this kept going, there would be nothing of her left.
