Kayleb Rae Candrilli, from Water I Won’t Touch

[ID: This poem -

‘On Travelling Together’, by Kayleb Rae Candrilli

In a Super 8 just outside Iowa City, two twelve-year-old boys

cuddle on the lobby couch, scrolling on their phones.

It’s four in the morning, and they don’t expect me, or anyone,

in the holy space they’ve drawn for themselves.

Their parents are asleep on the third floor, resting

before a hockey tournament or some other rough-and-tumble game.

It’s clear by the way the boys jump as I walk by;

their parents know nothing. The floor is lava.

The continental breakfast will start soon.

The couch they’re on is an island I’ve been to.”

Posting some old comics. This is vol 1 of a series of short comics I've been making in my spare time, under the umbrella "Phrasebook". They're each based on a phrase or word in Chinese that I've been thinking about.

[Image description: The meme showing a sea creature coming onto land. Several spears and a hand are pointing at it, and text on the image says: Stop them! "You missed your chance, pal!" / If you see a Horrid Beast evolving, push it back in. Edited on top of the creature is a screenshot of the new Tumblr sidebar, and the creature is labelled, "Their filthy side bars." Underneath the creature is text that says, "Our blessed" and has a screenshot of the old Tumblr top bar. \End description]

We all love urban fantasy but we have to contend with the fact that if monsters were real, some of them would be normies. Your werewolf boyfriend posts on LinkedIn. The tentacled horror you've been thirsting after is a Disney adult.

You did it, you made unimaginable horror within man-made comprehension.
