If anyone is interested, I have started a sewing and cosplay sideblog @thenerdysewist . I have one post on there so far about how I made my Morgana Pendragon from Merlin cosplay.

happy Women’s History Month I really think the impact of misogyny on dress history as a field of study cannot be overstated
the Met Gala exists because the Met Costume Institute is the only branch of the museum that has to provide its own funding independent of the Met proper. gee, I wonder why?
how many of the dress history myths floating around today boil down to “women are stupid and will do anything for fashion/male approval?”
the earliest foundations of the field in the 20th century were a few(mostly) men going on at length about the follies and foibles of Silly Vain/Coquettish/Prudish/Parsimonious/Spendthrift Women [mix and match according to your interpretive whims]- while one of the first solo female dress historians was the only one to actually MEASURE what a 17″ waist would look like, examine extant 19th-century women’s garments, and say “this was not remotely widespread, guys”
and of course, it’s only recently begun to be taken seriously as an academic field at all- because clothing is frivolous and unimportant, of course, and just coincidentally happens to be strongly associated with women. no link there, though, right? </s>

The last Standard Exam — It's all love now
*penis starts throbbing* my arch nemesis is near…
Keep my name bit out of your mouth!
you, yes YOU, who's your favorite character to draw right now? do you have a preference?
And as a surprise to absolutely no one… it’s him.
Spring time means...flowers? And boys in love, apparently. I usually don't like drawing flowers, but digital vs. traditional is super different, so I might have to reconsider since it was actually nice?!! I guess it depends what kind of flower you draw, and thankfully carnations are on the easier side and floofy. You can also view This Heart of Mine on AO3. This piece was drawn for @merlintarotfest using The Citadel Oracle Deck for a card reading of The Shepherd (celebration and/or family), The Thief (seizing the moment and/or selfishness), and The Acolyte: (new projects and/or learning). Also fills a @merlinbingo artist square using the hex color #4FB477 (aka a really gorgeous and nice green for the spring!).
And okay, I guess my inspo really wanted to see soft boys having a stolen moment of love. I'm going to assume Arthur and Merlin don't have a lot of time to take a breather to express their feelings for each other openly, so in this moment, that's what they get. That's totally what they deserve too, right? More love and hugs and Nice Things. I actually like how this piece came out, considering that this derived from a WIP I ended up scrapping, but what totally influenced my colour palette. Sometimes, going with the flow can make some magical things happen. Anyway, happy April, and if it's nice where you are, go enjoy the outdoors!
Starting fantasy high: junior year, and I am imagining the first day of school, it’s been a long, sunless summer, there’s been cults popping up everywhere, and then the weekend before school starts, the suns back.
Then you go in on Monday, and the kids that saved the world over spring break are there, looking like they haven’t slept in two weeks. The elven oracle has a jacket that’s almost ripped to shreds, their rouge has a waistcoat half covered in blood. They all smell like sand and dust, the van they arrive in is beat to shit and has a sigil and a gun(?) on the roof. Half of them have acid scars, the dancer has road rash across his face. Their orc still has amounts of dust in his hair, and his shoes have acid holes in them.
They all look exhausted and worn-out, half-dead zombies that walk into class and collapse, then in the first class they’re asked what they did over the summer, and apparently they’re the ones who caught the night yorb and ended the eternal night? Literally over the weekend? And it’s in the van in the school parking lot? And they just drove 48 hours straight, almost dead and dealing with broken bones and acid and fire? And the teacher is listening to this, and wondering if maybe they should just give the group the day off, because jesus christ, what the fuck?
The poll is aimed at writer's but any artist should answer if they resonate with one section!

Why are we afraid of a Trump presidency? Well, here's the beginning of political historian Heather Cox Richardson's daily writeup:
April 30, 2024 (Tuesday) This morning, Time magazine published a cover story by Eric Cortellessa about what Trump is planning for a second term. Based on two interviews with Trump and conversations with more than a dozen of his closest advisors, the story lays out Trump’s conviction that he was “too nice” in his first term and that he would not make such a mistake again. Cortellessa writes that Trump intends to establish “an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world.” He plans to use the military to round up, put in camps, and deport more than 11 million people. He is willing to permit Republican-dominated states to monitor pregnancies and prosecute people who violate abortion bans. He will shape the laws by refusing to release funds appropriated by Congress (as he did in 2019 to try to get Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky to smear Hunter Biden). He would like to bring the Department of Justice under his own control, pardoning those convicted of attacking the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and ending the U.S. system of an independent judiciary. In a second Trump presidency, the U.S. might not come to the aid of a European or Asian ally that Trump thinks isn’t paying enough for its own defense. Trump would, Cortelessa wrote, “gut the U.S. civil service, deploy the National Guard to American cities as he sees fit, close the White House pandemic-preparedness office, and staff his Administration with acolytes who back his false assertion that the 2020 election was stolen.” To that list, former political director of the AFL-CIO Michael Podhorzer added on social media that if Trump wins, “he could replace [Supreme Court justices Clarence] Thomas, [Samuel] Alito, and 40+ federal judges over 75 with young zealots.” “I ask him, Don’t you see why many Americans see such talk of dictatorship as contrary to our most cherished principles?” Cortellessa wrote. No, Trump said. “‘I think a lot of people like it.”
the time magazine article about him is terrifying. please, please vote blue this election. (please, please let him end up in prison!)
This, all of this! You can subscribe to Heather Cox Richardson's Letters From An American here She does a great job of explaining and putting into context many of the issues we are dealing in States, as going back to the Civil War and the belief there should be a ruling class, and a working class and ALL working class were inferior.

Gwen and Arthur from BBC Merlin gazing lovingly at each other and holding hands. Gwen is in her dark blue embroidered dress and Arthur is in his chain mail. The caption reads “A totally hetero couple” in bold white all capitalized text.
Gwen and Arthur in the same clothes but this time they are looking at the viewer and Arthur is embracing Gwen around her waist. The bi flag has been laid semi-transparently over the top. The caption is in the same font as the first and reads “Unless…”, implying that Gwen and Arthur are both bi.]
i would like to officially declare my admiration for merlin's self restraint towards arthur's general existance in the beginning because now that I've personally dealt with rich privilaged british boys i can't understand how merlin lasted long enough until he saw the real arthur. tbh i would've strangled arthur in his sleep my first day on the job
