Randomized ART

@themischievousfangirl

take an AU haunting me for ages now: the “sects go to the terrifying Yiling patriarch to ask for his help in the war, WWX ends up demanding LWJ marry him” fics?

Yes, that, but kinda in reverse.

  • The Sects go to meet the Yiling Patriarch and he’s as expected: arrogant, bold, careless, demanding. And using heretic powers to keep his Burial Mounds untouched by the world.
  • They negotiate, he smirks properly wicked, and and says he wants to name a bride and a marriage to the Lan.
  • The Lan talk, outraged, but they have a war to win so the agreement is struck: marriage to the Lan and the Yiling Patriarch is allowed to name bride and groom. They write it down exactly like that.
  • The war happens, but with the Yiling Patriarch’s army of the resentful dead, they lose less soldiers, win more battles. The Lan wonder why they were chosen, perhaps because they hold enough moral sway that any hostage of theirs wouldn’t result in another war? Regardless, Lan Wangji makes it his job to stick close to the Yiling Patriarch, as close as he will let anyone. He has a whole entourage of ghost brides, though only one stays close to him at all times, veiled whenever they have company
  • They win the war. “Bride and groom,” the Yiling Patriarch says and swears to return in three months. There is talk of taking him down now that Wen are gone, but no one wants to go to war in the Burial Mounds.
  • The Yiling Patriarch arrives in three months as promised, dressed in red, followed by a parade of people. “I’ve come to collect my debt,” he tells them. “I will name Lan Wangji as the groom,” he says, sparking confusion and outrage. Does he intend to name one of his ghost brides next? And indeed, he reached for one, lifts her veil, revealing living woman, but takes the veil for himself instead. “And I, myself, will be his bride.”
  • The story goes a little like this:
  • One. Wei Ying’s parents die and he follows them. Only he is young and alive and curious and the Burial Mounds are very hungry. They devour him skin, flesh, bone, teeth. And they spit him out again. And again again and again.

Honestly, it looks like at least after the Guanyin Temple, WWX is actively resisting understanding that JC still cares about him. JC takes a Stab to the chest for him, asks him why he didn’t keep his promise & stay by his side, has a full breakdown over his sacrifice, gives him back Chenqing that he’s kept for all these years, gets angry at JGY on his behalf, JGY spells out for WWX that JC is angry because he feels WWX was wronged, and that JC must have come to rescue not only JL, but WWX too, & targets WWX in the middle of the fight, fully trusting that JC would rush to his rescue, and he does. JC even thanks LWJ and holds a fallen WN. & I think one reason that WWX might be subconsciously fighting against getting all these clear signs and still avoiding JC might be that as much as he thinks he can’t handle JC’s wrath and blame and wants him to forgive him, he actually can’t afford JC’s forgiveness and unconditional love. Because he still blames himself for JZX’s and JYL’s deaths and even the massacre of Lotus Pier. & JC is the only one who has the right to be angry at him for all of these. He and JL. JC’s the only one who knew JYL & genuinely cared about her. WWX doesn’t think he deserves JC’s forgiveness. In fact, he looks terrified of it. Just look how quickly he turns from JC after thanking him for giving Chenqing back to him (Chenqing that after all these years still sounded like he had first used it. A very telling sign of JC’s affection in itself.) Even though even JL who was watching from afar could say that JC had something to say to WWX:

JC is an outward force blaming him and being angry at him. WWX can tell him that he doesn’t know what to say to him when asked for an explanation, he can tell him that it’s all in the past. Let it go. he can beat the shit out of him. He can apologize to him and be judged by him. He can avoid him. Pretending that by ignoring him he doesn’t have to face the past. JC blames WWX and is harsh to him so WWX doesn’t have to fight himself and blame himself all the time. post-resurrection WWX keeps misinterpreting everything JC says and is unwilling to listen to him and get the hints JC keeps giving him about how he just wants WWX to come back home & interprets everything JC even doesn’t say in the worst ways he can bc it’s not so much about JC than it’s about WWX projecting onto JC. Because he thinks JC MUST be thinking that way. BC WWX thinks he deserves JC’s hatred. And judging by how he keeps misinterpreting JC even pre-time-skip, and in true WWX fashion fully believes himself to be right & doesn’t second guess himself and or makes any effort to understand JC, & JYL is always the JC translator for him, from the moment she says to him that despite his tantrum JC is happy to finally have a playmate, to the moment she says that JC was the one who offered WWX name JL, and without JYL there to take their hands and pull them to meet each other in the middle the brothers can’t communicate, Jiang Cheng has never been so much his own person in Wei Wuxian’s mind as WWX’s interpretation of him. WWX’s shidi. An open book to WWX in WWX’s mind. When he was not WWX’s fragile shidi who needed protection (which @cerusee has written a great meta about here.), then he was WWX’s betrayed, angry shidi who blamed him & resented him. If JC forgives him and continues to be his loving brother then it’s clear that the only one who can’t forgive WWX is WWX. and what is he gonna do about that?

“I don’t get it,” says the demon, “This person’s lived a perfectly good and virtuous life. Why are you sending them to hell?” The angel nervously rubs the back of their head. “Honestly? We’re pretty sure they’d be happier in hell than heaven.”

Most of Tony’s personal notes were in his own unique language. Everyone thinks his work is lost, when he dies, until Peter steps forward admitting that Tony taught him the language. Peter is put in charge of translating Tony’s remaining plans when he finds a suspicious note on Tony’s desk, in the language only two people speak, that completely convinces Peter that Tony faked his death

miles “who’s morales” morales’s biggest weakness is the cover story

peter, lying out of his ass: i was, uh, married to his uncle aaron. he just never let you know

Jefferson, later: Do you think Aaron never told us because Peter’s…

Rio: …Tall

Jefferson: I didn’t think Aaron liked … Tall people.

Jefferson: “But listen: Aaron might have married a white boy just to annoy me, specifically. It’s a thing he would do!”

Rio: “I can’t hear you. I’m asleep.  I have a shift in four hours.”

I really wish there was a way Uncle Aaron lived and came back to meet his “husband” at some point now.

Aaron: …Miles…I love you, and I am proud of you…but you are somehow the smartest and dumbest boy I have ever known.

Miles: Says the man who used his big brain to become a criminal when he could’ve been a black Tony Stark with that gear he made. And thought working for the Kingpin, who everyone knows will throw his minions away like tissues, was a good idea!

Peter: He makes a good point, babe, you did kind of mess up first–

Aaron: Call me babe again and see what happens. I’ll whoop you with a collapsed lung.

All I see is “fake marriage au, but it’s also enemies to lovers”

the irony of walt jr (flynn) being named after his father when he is, in every conceivable way, the opposite of him. for every selfish, cowardly, cruel thing walt did, flynn just became more generous, brave, and loving. playing with holly and giving her love while walt is out "working for his family" and neglecting them in the process. inventing gofundme to save his father's life while walt sits there and seethes because no one's giving Him any kudos for his earnings. comforting a high, weepy walt on his own birthday. throwing himself in front of skyler to protect her, doing more for her in that one gesture than walt has ever done for either of them. flynn had every virtue that walt Believed himself to have and everything he did, he truly did for his family.

Okay, so what I was saying in my long Gabriel analysis rings true. (Ha ha...rings....) He changed to be accepted by Emilie's parents.

Deep down, Gabriel probably relates to Marinette. In the story Feligami tell...Marinette could easily be the poor tailor, while Adrien is the heir to the empire, ready to throw it all away for her.

At some point, Gabriel got twisted and sold out his values. It was probably a gradual process, which explains why Emilie initially fell in love with him and then stuck with him despite her unhappiness with him later.

In one of her videos for Nathalie, she said Gabriel got stuck on things. He was good enough for her but not for himself.

When he looks at Marinette, he sees a little of what he used to be. When he gives her that speech about being naive in the fashion world...he's talking about himself, once upon a time. I think he once had a dream like hers, and he let it go, focusing instead on the wealth and status he needed to be good enough for his in-laws.

Now, he envies Marinette, even if he's unaware of it. That's the only reason a grown man would be fixated on her in that way. He's treating her the way Emilie's parents treated him. He has to break her and get her out of his son's life because if he doesn't - if she achieves her dreams of marrying Adrien and becoming a designer without selling out her principles - it means he could have done this too. It will force him to reflect and take accountability for his bad decisions...and he just can't cope with that.

Similarly, when he hurls abuse at Cat Noir about what an ill-mannered child he is, and when he goes to such lengths to control Adrien...I really think he's seeing a reflection of his younger self there too.

Underneath the pancakes and bad dancing and total insanity, the man is nothing but a writhing heap of regrets and won't see that he had so many chances to do things another way.

the reason why Barbie (2023) will work as a movie and as a feminist piece is because Greta Gerwig actually also knows how to write complex, funny and interesting male characters. her Laurie in Little Women was kind and fun and authentic in a way that made the audience understand what the girls see in him; the guy from Lady Bird (yes, Timothée Chalamet again) was a really cool twist on the douchebag archetype. like there's no way Barbie will be about how all the Kens suck (and from the new trailer i believe it's also going to focus on Barbie' self-actualization which, god I'm so excited for Greta to make me cry in a Barbie movie!)

Boboiboy Seven Seals of the Apocalypse AU

This is just an idea, but hear me out-

Solar: Conquest. They wear a lot of white and use range. Light can travel very fast and covers large surfaces quickly, revealing what's hidden. There's the thing with Rek'taka too

Blaze: War. He's very prone to battle, short tempered, like war. Already had something to do with conflict from his debut

Duri: Famine. Can also fill in for Pestilence if you count that as a horseman. Rimba and King Balakung both needed to eat a lot to use their power.

Ais: Death. The color of Death is described as pale, but I saw it as a bit bluish in most art, and Ais's main color scheme is light blue. Ais sleeps a lot, sleep is technically a demo of death when you think about it.

Halilintar: The martyred soul(s). He is Boboiboy's main go to option when it comes to fighting, as a consequence, been through lots more. Has the highest "death" count out of all the elementals. Guy can't catch a break.

Gempa: Celestial Signs, the collapse of stars. He has the power to control the earth, and if strengthened, could probably mess with celestial bodies. It had something to do with Hali and Tau too, as they're both elementals of the sky, and both left him behind.

"If the sky has taken away my brothers, I'll simply bring it down"

At this point I think you already knew that the elementals aren't in their right mind.

Taufan: The Silence. This boy here, generated so much angst (what is wrong with this fandom). I just wanted Ori Trio to reunite, even if they're a little insane right now. The final silence is about God sending angels down to wipe the slate clean. Taufan's power has wide range, efficient for cleaning up multiple enemies.

As for the Lamb/Lion of Judah, I decided to make them 2 seperate entities, Boboiboy being the lamb that sacrificed himself for the elementals's sake, and Rek'taka making everything worse.

Whoever read to the end of my rant, thank you

I've seen people talking about so many different aspects of Across the Spider-verse and all the different Spider-person variations but not so much about the main villian the Spot.

Because he was just some guy, some regular scientist. Looking at what kind of people he worked for it cannot be said he was exactly good but he also wasn't evil, he was just doing his job and happened to be at a wrong time on a wrong place.

And his life seems ruined, he's this wierd spot being but his Forst thought isnt even to plot revenge. He's "shit how do I get a job now", when he decides to steal he decides to steal an ATM machine because he doesn't wanna rob some small business owner it's just such an interesting detail.

Only after being antagonised and called third league villian and only after after Miles does not realise and refuses to acknowledge and listen how he was accomplice in his making the Spot starts his revenge quest. And he's fascinated by his own powers, he's far from mentally stable but he was not evil mad scientist, he's just victim of circumstances.

Anonymous asked:

I love seeing no hate for the people sending ao3 CSEM, or the people causing a false panic about it. Its all ao3 hate.

Its almost like they wanted a reason to hate ao3, so they take everything against it in the most alarmist way possible.

What a shock! It's almost like they're just jumping on an excuse to browbeat an organization they already hate!

People are deliberately misinterpreting and distorting the situation when they talk about it to make it seem like AO3 is in the wrong here.

"they mishandled CSEM"

the CSEM they were attacked with? the CSEM literally sent to them in an attempt to terrorize their volunteers and destroy the archive? that CSEM??

Avatar

The response people are giving this situation is driving me INSANE. I'm literally about to lose my shit over it and I only just heard about the situation a few hours ago.

"Oh nooo the organization that runs on free volunteer work from the site that needs donations just to survive didn't properly protect their literal labor-of-love website from an actual violent malicious attack!!!!! They're evil!!!!! Lock them up for a million years!!!!!"

Like, are you fucking joking??????????

I cannot stress this enough; These idiots have been blaming the wrong people.

To those idiots; YOU ARE QUITE LITERALLY BLAMING THE VICTIMS OF A VIOLENT ATTACK INSTEAD OF THE MONSTERS WHO ARE ACTIVELY CREATING AND DISTRIBUTING REAL CSEM, POSTING IT EN-MASSE TO THE SITE LIKE A DOS ATTACK, AND INSTEAD OF RIGHTFULLY CALLING OUT THE ATTACKERS WHO ARE VERY BADLY BREAKING THE LAW, YOU DECIDE TO BLAME THE SMALL HANDFUL OF UNTRAINED VOLUNTEERS ON A POPULAR FANFICTION WEBSITE WHO WERE TARGETED FOR SAID ATTACK FOR NOT HANDLING THE ATTACK WELL ENOUGH.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?????

Avatar

absolutely. ao3 is a victim here. And you know who else is a victim? THE REAL ACTUAL KIDS BEING ABUSED IN THE CSAM MATERIALS. like ao3 is being maliciously attacked by literal actual child abusers and ppl are somehow not mad at the criminal child abusers. Are u for real?

I literally do not care if they say he’s a widower or it’s simply poor coping skills—unless the man were suddenly possessed by satan himself—no amount of grief can turn someone so callously cruel. I simply do not buy the Jekyll and Hyde narrative.

We’ve been told Gabriel had been a normal parent once…then underwent a drastic personality change after his wife expired.

???????

Adrien’s autonomy and consent have been continuously violated since his inception. He’s unaware of the fact and unsurprisingly blames himself for bending to Gabriel’s will.

His son is crying, on the verge of breakdown—literally begging—and Gabriel is completely unfazed by this distress.

Just as Colt Fathom came to despise/blame Félix for his illness, I suspect Gabriel harbors some degree of resentment towards Adrien due to Emilie’s passing. He may not be conscious of it, but there is a clear undercurrent of spite fueling his behavior.

The series has drawn explicit parallels between the senti-twins. They mirror each other’s pain and story. Félix has experienced cruelty firsthand and I don’t think he would go through so much effort to free his cousin/brother for naught.

(Also, before anyone boards the Emilie-hate bandwagon, please note/recall Félix’s reaction to her portrait. He has strongly held convictions, especially with respect to sentibeings and misuse of the peacock miraculous. I don’t believe he’d feel such fondness toward someone complicit in Adrien’s mistreatment.)

I want Miles to invite a bunch of spider people to one of his mom’s cookouts but he’s SO bad at trying to explain to his mom why all these people in increasingly weird Spider-Man outfits are here.

Rio: oh who are your friends honey? ^^

Miles: they’re uh. They’re the. The school Spider-Man club

Miguel somewhere in the back, mouth full of food: we’re the WHAT

Avatar

No but seriously if Miles had got home to his parents before Miguel what was Miguel going to do? Snatch him away from his mother and father without a fight?

Would he have even had it in him to actually look at this kid he’s been calling an anomaly and mistake the entire time, shielded by his parents, parents protecting their child, a child, and still just write him off as an anomaly? To match the glare of Miles and justify why he can’t is to protect what is important to him as they hold him? To match the glares of Rio and Jefferson and say they must understand that they have to hand over the focal point of their universe because of predetermined bullshit they could quite literally never understand?

I feel like a stand-off between him and the three of them would be less violent but somehow more of a punch to the gut than actually see them fighting.

Beyond the Spiderverse Theory!!

contains spoilers for across the spiderverse

okay so in the next movie, beyond the spiderverse, i think miles’ dad will survive. somehow, someway he’ll be saved from his untimely death.

miles was told numerous times in across the spiderverse that he cannot have his cake and eat it too. and he retorts with “unless you have two cakes!” miles is unmoving on his belief of “spiderman always does both.”

while reading out what he wants the bakery to write on the cake, he’s told it won’t fit on one. so he opts for buying two cakes, but while being spiderman, stopping a villain and swinging to his apartment, (aka: trying to do both) he’s late for his parents’ party, both of the cakes are ruined, he misses his dad’s heartfelt speech and then gets grounded. essentially the lesson from this is that he has to choose his battles correctly, that he cannot do both.

Avatar

Scenario where Miles gets really injured during the final fight with the Spot and his costume is damaged and you can see his face. His mother, his still living father see his face and rush to his side thinking their baby had died. He is of course gonna make it but they don’t know that and the first thing he does is apologize for lying and not telling them cause “I didn’t want you guys to be disappointed.” Before passing out. And they just hold him begging not Spider-man to get back up but their little boy who was supposed to be going to those great big places.

Now picture Miguel watching. Watching someone else’s world fall apart and he’s pushed back into that place of cradling his scared and confused daughter the same way Rio is her son. The only difference is the pained sobs of a mother who outlived her child compared to that of his silence disbelief and grief. The statuesque pose Jefferson is stuck in exactly like his was, as if he didn’t move the moment in time would freeze and he’d another second left with his son.

And all Miguel thinks as he become the reason a world has crumbled again is “What have I done?”

Genuinely unable to comprehend how Jiang Cheng went through the fall of Lotus Pier, the Sunshot Campaign, the deaths of all his family members, and then was left alone to raise his sect from the ashes, all while raising a baby that was barely 4 months old, all before he reached the age of 20.

"Oh, but he messed up so many times, look how Jin Ling turned out–" Obviously?? He would have??? Man had no idea what he was doing?? He didn't have the privilege of mourning in seclusion or having someone else lead his sect, he had to do everything on his own.

When you think about it, Jiang Cheng working hard and bringing Yunmeng Jiang into the Big Four once again is insane– imaging having to rebuild it from the ground up, imagine having no real connections with other clans (save for the Jin, and even that barely), imagine the political disadvantage he was left with after his brother died.

Because politics are ruthless, and all everyone had to say to shut up Jiang Cheng in any kind of setting if he is acting up is "Well, you let the son of a servant, a man you called brother, run rampant in demonic cultivation," and it doesn't matter that that's not how it went, the shadow of the Yiling Patriarch is just something Jiang Cheng can't easily shake that early on. I have no idea how it actually went for him, but I can't imagine anyone was that eager to come to his aid in any kind of way.

The Jiang clan triumphing isn't even attempting the impossible, it's looking at the impossible in the face and laughing.

Kudos to him because I would have simply killed myself and been done with it.

In defense of Gwen in Across the Spider-Verse

Okay. First of all: This post is gonna be super long and have tons of spoilers so if you don’t want to get spoiled for Across the Spider-Verse then don’t read this post. I have seen way too many people hate on Gwen because of her actions and her behavior towards Miles in Across the Spider-Verse. I’ll show you why that hate completely misses her arc in the movie and her true intentions/relationship with Miles. This post will also delve into Gwiles/Ghostflower since that is a big part of what shapes her intentions.  Many people say Gwen betrayed Miles and doesn’t really care about him. They say Miles shouldn’t forgive her and that she is a snake for what she did. I’ll show you why the opposite is true by going through the events of the movie in cronological order: The movie literally starts off with Gwen talking about Miles. She is drumming away, which is, mentioned by herself, a way for her to cope with her feelings. That opening from Gwen is a small glimpse into her head. We see how she feels and what she thinks. The interesting thing is that it’s basically Gwen broadly narrating the events of the entire movie. We even see glimpses of future scenes in that intro. The line of narration that is most important here is Gwen saying “I didn’t want to hurt him. But I did. And he is not the only one.” This shows us IMMEDIATELY that Gwen did not intend to hurt Miles AT ALL. Quite the contrary. It also shows that she is AWARE she hurt Miles. She knows she fucked up. That is going to be important later on when she needs to make the tough decision regarding Miles/The Spider Society.

Back on my Wei Ying makes a lot of jokes about dying agenda

Id imagine he and LWJ + the kids go to resolve this haunting, they walk into some house, and someone goes "ugh, it smells like smth died here"

LWJ braces for impact as WWX smiles really wide and says "well, i died, but i don't think its me"

Nobody laughs except for Jingyi: "its an objectively funny joke, you guys (except HGJ) are just boring"

You know what hurts?

Imagine being Jiang Cheng; you're 18 years old, and there was a moment, after the destruction of your sect, the Fall of Lotus Pier, the deaths of your parents, when you see your brother about to be taken away by Wen soldiers.

Imagine the things you'd think in the span of a few seconds: that if they take him, your brother dies, and you're alone in a war, left to take care of your people and your sister. If you distract them, they take you instead.

But if they take you, you'll die. You'll get tortured and killed in your own home that's bathed in the blood of your family. If you die, your brother will inherit your sect and your responsibilities. He will be the leader your father knew you could never be. You hear your mother's voice, that always said he will bring nothing but trouble, that he'll take away what's rightfully yours.

Imagine that despite everything, not caring about anything, you step outside. You get caught, tortured, your golden core crushed– a fate worse than death, because now you have become what you always thought you already were: useless.

You don't let him know. You don't let either of them know.

Now imagine that despite the deteriorating relationship with your brother, who doesn't seem to take anything seriously, who doesn't help with the sect, who makes trouble in every public appearance you have, you don't let him know. You don't throw it in his face. He must never know.

And years– so, so many dreadful years full of mourning later– you find out your brother made the same sacrifice you did. Except, he tells you that he did it out of obligation. You were a debt. You were a way to repay your father's kindness and your mother's tolerance and your sister's love to an orphan boy. You were the price the man you called brother had to pay for being allowed to live in Lotus Pier. You were his duty, nothing more.

That's what you hear in his words. That's what he means when he says to leave it all in the past. You are the past. Which maybe was fitting, as you never moved on from him. You were a weight that your brother is finally free of, so he can go live a happy life with other people he considers family.

Imagine how it feels, to think that what you did out of love, nothing more or less, but pure, unadulterated love– it destroyed your beloved's life. Everything you have built, everything you were proud of, it was at his expense. Then, your brother trampled all over your love with the cold detachment, although unknowingly.

He didn't know after all.

So, steeling whatever is left of your heart, you let him go. You finally let go, knowing your grip has never been love, to your brother, but a chain, a prison–

So you don't tell him.

You could never admit to it. You could never put him through the anguish you yourself are feeling.

He must never know.
