why are lemons separate from food op?
everyone knows lemons arent food
lemon stealing whores are a huge issue separate from food stealing whores. there’s a whole documentary about whores stealing lemons from the trees of unsuspecting victims. you can see the first two minutes of it here.
Thats a rickroll. That totally is a fucking rickroll. No fukin way. Not falling for it.
Me to the rest of tumblr after actually watching what was in the link:
…I really don’t know what I was expecting.
What the fuck did i just watch.
It- it’s not a Rick roll
Have we really reached a time when the Lemon Stealing Whores are no longer common knowledge.
i love the comments
Is anyone else getting ads on..... How to kill the monkey King?
Oh this is delightful
Sometimes i wonder about how strange America is.
The last one fills my head a lot. I don't think you Americans realise how wild that is.
I'm European for context. I can easily travel to a bunch of different contries very easily. All countries in Europe have widly different cultures and languages - the latter is my real point.
I cannot speak french. I cannot speak spanish. I know a few words, but I cannot keep a conversation in any of them.
I see a lot of Americans on the internet talking about "being bilingual". That word fascinates me. Bilingual. Two-language-speaker. It's only really attributed to people with immigrant parents - not people who've learnt a language on purpose. I sense this weird respect around the word, like your something special if you can speak more than one language. The thing is, bilingualism is'nt really a thing in Europe. The majority of people in Europe is at least bilingual to some degree, if not trilingual. Otherwise you would only be able to visit your own country. If I wanted to visit Bulgaria or The Chech Republic, I would have to seek out people who also can speak english, since that is the only language I speak other than my native tongue.
And english isn't always European's second language. Sometimes it's french, other times german or spanish. Depends on the generation really.
However, in America you don't have this problem. You could literally fly from one end of the continent to the other and still be able to talk to basically anyone. Maybe they have a different accent, but at whole you understand each other. You could go to England, or Australia and still just get by with your mothertongue!!! That is insane!!!
If I wanted to write with someone let's say 1.500 km away (that's around 930 miles for the Americans) I would have a language barrier. We would both translate our thoughts to another language and then back to our mother tongue. If an American wrote with someone 1.500 km away they would both use their mother tongue. Heck, you could talk to someone 4.000 km (2.000 miles) away and still speak your mother tongue!
And now for the size: I didn't understand states for the longest time. I thought Americans were stupid for not understanding the difference between countries and states. I think I understand now. States are more like countries than councils. They all have so different climates. I can't remember the name or place for all of Americas states, so it makes sense for Americans not being able to place Europe's countries. And the Europeans who think Americans are annoying for saying their hometown instead of "America" when you ask them where they're from: that's the equivalent to say your countries capitol where you grew up, instead of the country. You probably wouldn't answer "Europe" to the question "So where are you from?". I know I wouldn't.
TLDR: It is wild that english-speaking people can talk to so many without learning another language.
All my knowledge is from the Internet, I have never visited the US, so maybe I've misunderstood some things. (I know not everyone in the US have english as their mother tongue, but it's still a lot more than in Europe)
Even if I didn’t have a solid plan, in the back of my head, I always assumed I’d kill myself.
Now I’m an adult and people my age have their lives in order and I’m stuck here, confused, because I never planned to be alive and I’m so far behind.
I feel like I’ll never catch up.
Hey all.
I want to make an addition to this. I made this post a long time ago.
I’m currently back in university, and I’ve made so much progress with my trauma. I’m in a loving relationship.
Things can and will get better. It’s not too late.
Nothing is perfect by any means. But I’m happy I’m still here and didn’t kill myself. I hope you get to that point, too 💕
The addition is important! I see the original post circulating a lot, but the addition is important!
New addition two years later. I’m still going strong!
I’m getting married. I’m still in that loving relationship.
I’ve learned that there’s no real timeline. It’s okay. And while it sucks that I lost time, there’s still so much for me to experience and enjoy.
Newest addition. 7 years after the original post!
I got married last month! My dog is laying on me snoring. I’ve learned to have healthy friendships and relationships. I’ve learned that I’m not alone and that even when things are hard, I’m going to be okay.
when programs fucking autocorrect <3 to ❤️ and :) to 😃,,,, do you have any idea what you’ve just done?? what you just fucking destroyed ?
A) It's irritating when systems turn lovely ascii art into crude little pictograms, and
😎 It's even more frustrating when you weren't actually trying to make an emoji.
Tumblr doesn't turn a B) into a 😎
my followers can have some cave pics, as a treat
Good reference for writers
I had a dream that the king and the queen of a small country had a daughter. They needed a son, a first-born son, so in secret, without telling anyone of their child’s gender, they travelled to the nearby woods that were rumoured to house a witch.
They made a deal with that witch. They wanted a son, and they got one. A son, one made out of clay and wood, flexible enough to grow but sturdy enough to withstand its destined path, enchanted to look like a human child. The witch asked for only one thing, and that was for their daughter.
They left the girl readily.
The witch raised her as her own, and called her Thyme. The princess grew up unknowing of her heritage, grew up calling the witch Mama, and the witch did her very best to earn that title.
She was taught magic, and how to forage in the woods, how to build sturdy wooden structures and how to make the most delicious stews. The girl had a good life, and the witch was pleased.
The girl grew into a woman, and learned more and more powerful magics, grew stronger from hauling wood and stones and animals to cook, grew smarter as the witch taught her more.
She learned to deal with the people in the villages nearby, learned how to brew remedies and medicines and how to treat illness and injury, and learned how to tell when someone was lying.
Every time the pair went into town, the people would remark at just how similar Thyme was to her mother.
(Thyme does not know who and what she is. She does not know that she was born a princess, that she was sold. She only knows that one night after her mother read her a story about princesses and dragons, her mother had asked her if she ever wanted to be a princess.)
((Thyme only knows that she very quickly answered no. She likes being a witch, thank you very much, she likes the power that comes with it and the way that she can look at things and know their true nature.))
The witch starts preparing the ritual early, starts collecting the necessities in the winter so they can be ready by the fall equinox. Her daughter helps, and does not ask what this is for, just knows that it is important.
The witch looks at Thyme, both their hands raised into the air over a complicated array of plants, tended carefully to grow into a circle, and says, sorry.
The concept of not using your top sheet is totally foreign to me. I guess it’s because I grew up in a drafty old house sleeping under down comforters, antique quilts, wool blankets and other pieces of bedding that were a sensory nightmare/difficult to clean. I see people in my generation joke about the uselessness of the top sheet and I’m like. Idk, I think it has a pretty important job to do protecting you from touching the creepy haunted quilt your great grandma sewed.
Top sheet value:
What's a top sheet?
Just checking.... We all pronounce Miette like My-TAY in our heads, right?
It's "mne-eeh-t." "Mne-eht" said with that soft tongue on the upper palette French sound or "mee-yet". I put the "n" because the pretty tongue roll on the "y" kinda sounds "n"-like to me.
I've been saying it Mee-yet in my head. Like the French word for "crumb."
I've always said Mee-æt
Reading a book about slavery in the middle-ages, and as the author sorts through different source materials from different eras, I am starting to understand why so many completely fantastical accounts of "faraway lands" went without as much as a shrug. The world is such a weird place that you can either refuse to believe any of it or just go "yeah that might as well happen" and carry on with your day.
There was this 10th century arab traveller who wrote into an account that the fine trade furs come from a land where the night only lasts one hour in the summer and the sun doesn't rise at all in the winter, people use dogs to travel, and where children have white hair. I don't think I'd believe something like that either if I didn't live here.
I mean honestly everything that Arab traveler said lines up with the Arctic areas, except the white hair part, I don't know where that originates from, or if it's accurate
If I had to guess, maybe they had albinism? Or maybe it's one of those cases where kids sometimes start out with one hair color and develop a different one when they get older. This is all conjecture, but something to consider.
Still really cool tho
guys, the traveler just wasnt used to blondes
In Denmark a lot of people can have so blonde hair, that it's basically white
Yeah this is what walking around in the US is like
being in ACTUALLY WALKABLE cities in europe has been life changing. like it’s not too much to ask for sufficient infrastructure for people who don’t have cars
jesus christ
I knew America was bad but damn
u live like this?
There is NOTHING like this in Denmark
I bet giant isopods are sooo delicious broiled in butter the whole thing is like lobster meat
This you?
Idk someone find me an isopod expert who could compare the tissue found in them to other shellfish and i will let you know but superficially Yeah Babey i will eat that bug like burger
That only applies to the tiny ones on land. The deep sea ones, which are that big, absolutely taste like crab or lobster and are in fact fished in some places. Apparently they also sometimes just get caught in lobster traps; they aren't necessarily restricted to the abyss!
Not to ruin an absolutely baller addition my dear friend but isopod meat is meat, like I admire the hustle but it's still definitely meat
Laioscore
never let anyone tell you that trawling through mediocre victorian poetry isn't worth it. we just happened upon an absolute BANGER of a worm poem. go read it or else 🪱🪱🪱
the reviews are in... glad everyone's enjoying song of the worm
[id: tumblr tags reading 'dude This Fucking Rules', 'holy fucking shit! that was legit so cool?', 'holy shit that is fucking metal', 'oh this fucks severely', 'yeah no this fucking SLAPS', 'yo this RULES']
Holy fucking shit this is one of the most incredible things I have ever read. I am dead serious. I PROMISE you that you want to read this, and you're going to immediately send it to all your weird friends who you also know will love it.
the nuisance of our language is stunning
ahh but true slavs know they all have slightly different meanings ;)
english sucks because they have like 3 swear words combined
@one-time-i-dreamt can you answer this?
jebati - fuck someone
podjebavati - to screw around with someone
zajebavati - same as above but more joking and lighthearted
zajebati - fuck something up or fuck someone over
izjebati - could mean to fuck someone good or fuck someone up lol
ujebati - made a mistake
razjebati - break something
sjebati - fucked something up, made a mistake
nadjebavati - outsmart someone
jebuckati - to talk minor shit, also a more innocent way to say fuck
odjebati - ditch someone
najebati - get in trouble
prejebati - screw someone over, do something sneaky (bad)
dojebati - move somewhere, often said about people from rural areas moving to big towns
my personal fav - nejebica - state of fucklessness
I mean, a lot of them ends in "bati", like how you can end everything i english with "shit". But still fascinating!
Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.
Might I add:
The defeat of the wizard who made people choose how they’d be to be executed
The woman who raised the changeling alongside her biological child
The human who died of radiation poisoning after repairing the spaceship
The adventures of a space roomba
Cinderella finding Araura (and falling in love)
I don’t know a snappy description but the my nemesis cynthia story certainly lives in my head
hilariously, these are almost all in my fic tag. so, a compiled list from the notes (and some extras):
I am in love with you /p
What about the one with the princess locked in a tower learning to become a wizard? That’s lived in my mind for years and I haven’t seen it in a long time
Oh, love that story, adding it to the list: 20. Princess Talia and adding a few more contenders 21. Thyme 22. The Monster under the Bed 23. A Meaningful Death 24. Humans are unstoppable…until they aren’t 25. The Monster under the Fridge 26. Antler Guy 27. Cleric slamming healing spells
Adding a few more I remembered: 28. The Frog and the Scorpion 29. HSTHETE 30. The First Witch in the World 31. Imagine that Oceans were replaced by Forests 32. A Faerie taking a Name 33. The Dragon on the Farm 34. Synovus & Menace 35. Raising the Anti-Christ 36. Aliens vs. Flora & Fauna of Earth (pretty sure there are even more additions to the original post but I had this one saved) 37. Doctors without Borders…in Space! 38. The Villain-Wrangler 39. The Last Contact 40. The 100 Parent-Point Children 41. And the Heavens Wept 42. The Night Gentleman 43. The Serpent God and their Priestess
Wow! @writing-prompt-s contributing to like half of these!
I can hardly take any credit for these stories! But I love sharing them. Unfortunately I cannot read all the prompt responses so please tag me if you want me to reblog a story that resonated with you so I can give it a little boost :)
