It’s practically 2014 and you guys still don’t know how to google if an article is real or not before giving it 100,000 notes
whenever i'm trying to talk myself out of buying something i don't need i always hear my old russian professor's voice echoing in my head: "WHAT??? WILL YOU DIE THE RICHEST MAN IN THE GRAVEYARD?" and then i make an unwise financial decision
in 1978, sanrio made a crocodile called big challenges. he was never used for anything.
he believes that you can overcome your own big challenges !
Some more doodling for the Hercules AU I started to draw with @bigmammallama5 and @lordsantiagoaz
+the Lena pic I posted earlier today
chapter 1 is up on ao3!
A hangover. It had to be. There was no other earthly reason for the throbbing head, her impulsive hatred for existence, and the wave of nausea that demanded Big Belly Burger stat.
There was just one problem.
This wasn't her couch. Hell, this wasn’t even… her fingers brushed the ground and met… dirt. Why was there dirt? Why was it so hot? And why - she squinted, blinking and flinching until her eyes adjusted to the brightness - why did this look like a desert?
Lena groaned. It came out like the croak of a sad frog.
Cotton-mouthed, head pounding, and feebly hoping this was a bad VR trip, she curled to sit up. Vertigo would be better than whatever this was. She pressed a sympathetic hand to the bridge of her nose and noticed the maze of red sand lines against the deep burgundy fabric of her three-piece suit. The suit she was wearing the night before. The power-suit she had chosen to increase her confidence for when…
A shiver crawled across her skin. It was as welcome as it was unsettling, though before Lena could think much about that, it was sapped by the sun baking down on her. She closed her eyes though that wasn’t particularly useful at shutting the world out.
“End simulation.”
A beat.
Nothing.
Two beats.
Nothing.
i think that sometimes the best thing that you can do is remind yourself that there are beaches. lakes, rivers, and ponds. there are forests. little woods and meadows. there are canyons. gullies and mountain cliffs. there are rainy days. dry spells and scorching blue skies. that the world turns. changes as much as it repeats. that feeling slow today won't stop tomorrow's high tide. won't make july's blackberries any less ripe
I think maybe I missed the birds and the bees talk after all, I don’t remember this part
that’s the Hawks & Hornets discussion, the more advanced version that covers kinks.
That is obviously the Animorphs on a mission.
Honey buzzards are amazing. This one’s in no danger - they evolved particularly to eat beed, wasps, hornets, and their larvae. Even the dreaded Asian hornet. Honey buzzards may even have a chemical defense in their feathers! Other adaptations…
Scaly, tough feathers around the face to protect from stings
Relatively blunt, tough claws for tearing into wasp nests
But that’s not all!
As they can fall prey to goshawks, juvenile honey buzzards actually mimic the common buzzard, which is carnivorous and more dangerous to tackle!
So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?
Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether you’ve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they aren’t and therefore will act like they aren’t, but they are, trust me.
Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.
wow. really hope this isn't actually a norm taking hold with new users! this isn't facebook, you don't need to know people before following them
this is the '10 year mutuals you've never spoken to once' site
sitting on and touching warm rocks…………. now thats the good stuff…….
Are you….. A reptile ?
what are you a cop? mind your business
Reading a book about slavery in the middle-ages, and as the author sorts through different source materials from different eras, I am starting to understand why so many completely fantastical accounts of "faraway lands" went without as much as a shrug. The world is such a weird place that you can either refuse to believe any of it or just go "yeah that might as well happen" and carry on with your day.
There was this 10th century arab traveller who wrote into an account that the fine trade furs come from a land where the night only lasts one hour in the summer and the sun doesn't rise at all in the winter, people use dogs to travel, and where children have white hair. I don't think I'd believe something like that either if I didn't live here.
Had a similar thought when I was up close to a lazy rhino the other day. Like, animals can be so bizarre looking that, honestly, those medieval monks did a pretty good job drawing exotic species based only on fourth hand descriptions.
I understand where this justification comes from but like, they couldn’t even draw a turtle, a completely normal common European animal, I think we just have to accept medieval monks were bad artists actually
My theory is that the monks had never seen one because they'd never been outside. Like I know they did their own gardening and all but do we really know if they ever touched grass. Chronically in the manuscripts.
