Something that bugs me as an autistic adult is when I’m unmasking or I don’t realize I’m being autistic around someone and they make me feel stupid for it. Like for example, my customer service personality is extremely bubbly and friendly because I’ve learned that’s what most people respond the best to. So when I’m made to feel stupid for that it’s embarrassing. I mean I absolutely can turn it off and be a toad on a log but that’s bad for business isn’t it

It was revealed to me recently that my dad’s birth-mother, who refused any and all contact with both himself and his (surprise) twin brother, passed away two years ago. My father’s twin brother, who also does not wish to communicate with any of us, found her obituary and public book of condolences and wrote in it. Dad says he isn’t interested in stirring any pots and won’t leave an entry in the book, however, this is where I and my father differ,
I look JUST like her. I wear this woman’s face, and she never wanted to know about me. I feel like it’s my duty to be a better person and a more honest woman than my biological grandmother who I’ll never meet. Maybe that’s the greatest poetic irony of this situation. One of the two sons she never wanted produced a child who grew into her image.
