good can come from broken

claudia, she/her, 20s. passionate about complex fictional characters and relationships

once upon a time should’ve never been a children’s show because

what do you mean a 18 y/o girl had her fiancé murdered by her abusive mother and was immediately forced to marry a 50+ y/o man (whom her mother had previously been engaged to) instead, a man who furtherly abused her throughout the marriage, all of which ultimately led her to become “the evil queen”, but it’s never addressed past the line “snow white told a secret”?

what do you mean a homeless 16 y/o girl was groomed by a 24 y/o man who got her pregnant and set her up to get arrested and go to prison for a crime he commited but it never gets addressed past the line “you let me go to prison because pinocchio told you to?”

and what do you mean years later those women were forced into new relationships with awful men they made no sense with and we, full-grown adults, have to pretend them repeating the childish words “true love”, “soulmate”, “pixie dust” and “happy ending” over and over again to justify those relationships without having to go any deeper into them wasn’t over the top ridiculous and cringeworthy?
