My roommate and I are disabled and he's currently recovering on some long-term complications which had him in the hospital, and still has him on expensive feeding tube formula.

We need help with this weeks rent (due tomorrow), food, and our storage bill. We had a post up, but the goal has now gotta change. A couple charges I didn't expect came up due to me getting sick and a family emergency.

Casual observation from someone old enough to remember: in the year 2000 financial advice was that rent should be no more than 1/4 of your income.

Until the mid 80s, the advice was that if you must rent instead of owning, then that 20% of your monthly income (oh yes, only 20%) should include all your utilities too.

After all, rent costs more than a mortgage, so it should offer more too.

The housing market is a fucking travesty.

Calvin’s dad is basically a Calvin who has learned that he can’t get away with running outside naked or throwing snowballs at neighborhood girls, but he is still precisely the same little shit under the thin veneer of civilization.

@lyricwritesprose Calvin and Hobbes has been one of my favorite things since I could read and Calvin’s dad one of my favorite characters, but that last comment blew my mind wide open. Of course that’s what he is. Of course.

one of the most subtly delightful things about calvin and hobbes is that you can SEE that calvin is his parents’ kid: his dad is so playful and imaginative, and his mom has a heck of a temper and a good sense of what’s right and wrong. calvin is a smart, passionate, imaginative kid who gets really upset when he thinks things are stupid or unfair. he drives his parents crazy sometimes because he’s a kid. but they were probably a lot like calvin themselves, when they were little.

It’s obvious Miguel is wrong about canon events, whether it’s out of ignorance or is intentional is unknown. Because when the world he lived in disappeared, it did not look like it was being enveloped by a black hole. It almost looks like everyone was glitched out of existence.

It’s unknown if they’ll be able to fix Mumbattan, but it’s clear something fishy is going on…

ALSO migul contradicts him self, saying that miles isnt hisn universes spiderman, but if that were the case why would canon events need to apply to an anomoly? Since they already accoured to peter A, this would mean either migule has to acknolage miles as his universes spiderman, or that canon events shouldent aply to him

So I started a GoFundMe to cover everything from surviving while still homeless to securing housing/moving costs. My mom and I have talked and we actually really like Encinitas so we're going to stop waiting on the program in Oceanside to be funded and look around here. We need to try and get a bigger car so we can all survive living in a car together (neither I nor my mom sleeps much because my son makes it impossible, and the cats need more space). My mom's got kidney problems that are being checked out now, and the sooner we can get in a better situation the better. But it will take mutual aid, because we have some significant debt to pay off, and even low-income housing can get expensive.

If I need to save for something specific, I'll reblog this post with the information (my account is set up for daily payments to my bank) but yes. Hopefully this will make it easier to get help.

So my account is overdrawn by $82 and I have until 9 PM PST Sunday to cover it or I'll get charged $34 for a late fee. I also need to cover my mom's current overdraft, which is $450 (the $300 charge still hasn't come out, but new ones hit this morning). I also need more laundry money (I have $20 and a $9 card from the homeless outreach place, but that won't cover washing the stuff in our storage unit; it'll only cover what's currently in our car). I got money for the laundry, and $24 went on my overdraft, bringing me down to $58 (I had to spend $26 on food since we didn't get into the safe parking lot until 10 and the food stuff was closed). If I can get $20 I won't get charged an overdraft fee for what's left/I can get a coffee to get rid of the headache I currently have.

I also still need to whittle down my mom's overdraft; she's going to get hit with a bunch of overdraft fees unless I can come up with $410 today (July 16th), but any little bit helps!

on a serious note regarding the wga strike and (as of 1:50 AM PST 7/13) upcoming sag-aftra strike, dsa-la has a fundraiser called The Snacklist which provides snacks and water on the picket lines here in LA. right now the funds they have will not last through the end of the summer, especially given the current and upcoming heatwaves necessitating more supplies. if you have a couple of dollars to spare it's a great way to directly support the writers (and potentially the actors) during this difficult time!

The Entertainment Community Fund provides emergency financial assistance to anyone in the entertainment industry who is unable to pay their immediate basic living expenses such as housing, food, bills, and healthcare.

The Union Solidarity Coalition has been formed by members of the wga, sag, and the dga to help cover the cost of healthcare for IATSE and teamsters who will not get enough work hours to qualify for their coverage this year due to their refusal to cross a picket line.

The Hollywood Support Staff Relief Fund (also run by the Entertainment Community Fund but separate from the above link which supports all film and tv workers) offers assistance to tv and film support staff and assistants who are not protected by a union and have been displaced from low or entry level positions.

Drive 4 Solidarity is an IATSE organized event in August raising funds for all union and guild members. Tickets are available for those in socal but donations are being taken as well.

Humanitas Groceries for Writers fund provides WGA members with grocery gift cards.

Green Envelope Grocery is a grocery fund for all workers in the entertainment industry regardless of union status.
