You know the thing where you ask someone to identify Mechanisms for you when they don’t know anything about them? I got a kind friend to do this!

Melanie? It looks like a captain's coat, is she the captain? Her mechanism is her hands.

Oh hey Jayne! He doesn't look like a Jayne but he has a very Jayne vibe. He looks like a Mike, but he begrudgingly goes by Bubbles. He looks like he shoots first and never bothers asking questions. Presumably he's the gunner. His mechanism is his eyes.

I'm very easily influenced by these images, so the first name I'm thinking of is Morrigan, although it might also be Morgan with some extra parentheticals should you want to expand this name -- Mor(ri)gan. They're the himbo heart of gold first mate. Or thembo, I guess? The Samwise to your Frodo! Their mechanism is their ... right foot?

This is clearly the science officer or doctor -- it's the watch fob that does it for me. I'm trying to figure out if he's a Sam or a Lee. His mechanism is lungs. Definitely the sort of person who just blurts out the answer to a question that was asked three days ago and doesn't think it's weird.

This is Roger. He's got a rose so he's gotta be doing the social with people stuff. He's the ship diplomat and he's definitely running from debts -- he's totally lost a ship or two in a hand of cards. I'm looking at his makeup and I think it's weird that it's just his cheek that was replaced for immortality? No, actually, it's his hair, he has fantastic hair.  

Oooh. Hey. Oh no. I don't know if she's allowed me her name. I get the impression she's their vocalist so her mechanism is her voice box. The wings are cool and all but they're just there, they're not what make you immortal. I don't think anyone knows what her role on the ship is but it's not questioned. She's part of the crew, what else do you need to know? I'm still stuck in the realm of mundane names and I'm sure she doesn't have one, I'm not allowed to know, I'm not allowed to ask. 

I feel like his name is Brian but he pretends that it's actually some long pretentious name that he tries to get people to call him by but it doesn't work, like Brianthos or some fantasy bullshit, but most people just call him Buddy. Brianthos, Lord of the Engine Room! Okay, bud. "Oooh I'm a cool man, I deserve all your respect!" buddy you're just the ship's engineer. Yeah, he's our engine boi. He likes pats and praise but he never asks for them. He pretends his mechanism is his eye but it's actually his foot or something thoroughly boring. This man likes to think he fucks.

Ooh, hi! I like you, you're friendly. She's the navigator, because she has a book. And a tie! I like her colors. She's Robyn with a y. She's so pleasant! She cares about her job and her crew. Her mechanism is her ... spine? You can have some really cool science happening back there.

I don't know what its actual job is, but it's the sort of person that greets you on a cruise ship like "hi, I'm your guide! We're going to have a great time! It's gonna be cool!" Maybe Captain Of First Impressions is its title, and it knows what it means and how it works, but no one knows how to explain it. There's some hints that it actually has rank! It would be so much easier if it was wearing a nametag but it forgot for this picture. Can the 'stache be its mechanism? It's so clearly not part of the original blueprint. I think this might be Megan.

Another Good Omens vid, because I cannot and will not stop! Possibly in an effort to feel anything like joy after long holiday retail shifts, I spent the last three days making a vid about how absurdly in love Aziraphale and Crowley are! Behold their faces/my ongoing emotions about them/etc.

It wasn't as though his interest in Aziraphale was entirely appropriate. Of course it wasn't bloody appropriate. He was consorting with the Enemy, nothing about it was appropriate. 6000 years of pining! Lots of wikipedia deep-dives from which I emerged with one additional sentence, usually about what food Aziraphale is eating! Crowley going into absolute contortions of longing as he accidentally falls in love! I had a blast writing this one.

Hahaha I got my hot little hands on Good Omens files and made this vid in literally four days! It's kind of about being mad at God, and it's a lot about finally being able to vid my Good Omens book feelings, because I've never met a book-to-screen source where I don't immediately attempt to vid my book feelings, I guess.

Another Good Omens fic! I cannot be stopped, I'm just going to write thousands upon thousands of words of Aziraphale and Crowley in love, what a wonderful way to spend my summer. Anywhere You Want to Go, Aziraphale/Crowley Aziraphale knew Crowley liked him. He'd known it with a horrible clarity since around 1100, which was at least a thousand years after the first time he'd thought of kissing Crowley, and some eight hundred and odd before it occurred to him that the specific quality of Crowley's regard could be very dangerous for both of them, if they actually admitted their feelings aloud. It was also two weeks since any of that had mattered at all anymore. They go on holiday to the South Downs cottage! There are picnics! Emotionally repressed flirting! Two whole fraught wrist kisses!

(In a weird way this is the same fic as Shatter? Like, it really isn't, this is a bottle episode on a spaceship, not a Loki-is-banished-instead first movie AU, but the character trajectories are similar, just from the opposite end of Thor and Loki's arcs!! Which means that instead of talking about feelings while Loki rage-cries and threatens Thor with knives, now they talk about their feelings while drinking the Valkyrie's liquor together. ENJOY.)
