An AU about cat boy Keith and mermaid Lance. A bit childish but it’s what I usually do… I plan for this to have 4 parts  but I’m slow….

I don’t know why I’m just noticing this now, but Keith and Lance both have serious rejection issues that are the main reason why they can’t love people properly or feel they can fall in love. Like I mentioned before, Lance has had his heart broken/been rejected so many times that when someone actually reciprocates feelings towards him, he pushes them away because he’s scared it may happen again

A good example of this as I also mentioned, is the bonding moment. It’s already been confirmed that Lance remembers the bonding moment but he purposely forgot because he wasn’t emotionally ready to go there yet

This could mean that he was scared to take the next step forward with Keith or even grow closer after this, because he was afraid that he’d just get his heart broken again. And he wasn’t strong enough to face that

As for Keith he’s mentioned before, that instead of accepting people into his life he pushes them away before they can reject him

And that sounds awfully similar to Lance, except his rejection issues started because of his mom abandoning him

I’ve noticed that Keith and Lance’s insecurities parallel each other’s a lot, like them being unsure of their places on the team because of who they are (which is emphasized in the ep “Red Paladin” that refers to the both of them and their insecurities, not a coincidence at all) 

They’re the only two on the team who’s internal conflicts and insecurities are causing a set back in their growth and development. If Lance is too afraid to accept love from others because of fear of rejection, how can he truly love? If Keith is also afraid that him accepting people into his life will lead to rejection, how can he also properly love as well?

This is why they’re both having these arcs right now that are making them stronger and will help them to overcome these issues. As I mentioned before, Keith coming across his mom will bring him inner peace. His problems rooted from his mom, so if he can overcome them he will be stronger.

Jeremy has also mentioned that Lance being able to take the lead in s5 is helping him to become his own man apart from Keith. Lance has always felt inferior to Keith, so him not being emotionally ready to accept their bonding moment is also because of that other than fear of rejection. If Lance can stop trying to compare or one up himself to Keith, but become strong on his own instead of looking at things as a competition. He can actually be emotionally ready to face Keith as his own person and not as someone who feels inferior to him. Not to mention his on going insecurities about his value to the team will be fixed too. He also wouldn’t be so scared of rejection, because Keith was ready to accept him a long time ago (*cough* he has a crush on him *cough*)

Now it’s just a matter of them both getting on the same page

so 43 episodes of voltron have been released so far

that means that 35 episodes remain (vld has 78 episodes in total)

s6 is most probably gonna be 7 episodes because s5 and s6 are considered one season split into two (s5 was 6 episodes long, and a single full season of voltron consists of 13 episodes)

that leaves us with 28 episodes for seasons 7 and 8

but since i don’t think dreamworks is gonna be kind enough to give us full seasons of 14 episodes each, they’re gonna try to make the show run longer by dividing the remaining two season into two seasons each

so that means we still have 5 seasons of 7 episodes each left

Lance stans: Stop making Lance come off as an airheaded flirt in promotional material!!

Dreamworks: Fine, here’s a three minute long video of Lance training and becoming possibly the first paladin on the team to activate a completely different class of weapon than his standard

Lance stans: … Oh can we also have him and Allura have a relationship based on mutual respect?

Dreamworks: By the way Allura and Lance also have a meaningful and deep conversation about their concerns for the team and the coalition without a single flirtatious word from Lance and Allura admits she does enjoy talking with Lance and it ends with them laughing together and joking around like real friends who trust and support each other would do

Lance stans: Uh uh how about the rest of the team acknowledging Lance???

Dreamworks: Did we mention Allura literally says the whole team has noticed that Lance has greatness within him?

Klance stans launching themselves into the conversation: KLANCE?!

Dreamworks: Oh yeah, and Lance’s secondary class of weapon is a sword just like Keith

Lance stans: ALTEAN LANCE??

Dreamworks: Oh, and the sword is an Altean broadsword just like Alfor used that Allura hasn’t seen since she was young

Lance stans: BLACK PAL—

Dreamworks: And Allura hints at fake!Shiro at the same time as pointing out Lance’s improving skills, meaning there may be an open spot at the seat of the Black Lion fairly soon. Possibly for someone with experience flying multiple lions?
