It's been a while since I painted ghost king Danny. I went with the aurora borealis crown this time. Also more animation experimentation with 2d and 3d stuff.

I struggled with the background a bit. Below is an alternative version, I can't decide what looks better.

do you know how often we see Danny Fenton with that determined, angry look on his face? sure we see him angry at everyday shit, we see him with “the scary eyes,” but we don’t really get to see him with that “i will fuck you up” look very often because he always goes Phantom by then. this gif stops before that happens. he’s not throwing banter, he’s not making jokes and telling Vlad what a fruit loop he is. he’s staring him the fuck down because Vlad fucked up.

so, this gif basically shows us Phantom in Fenton form. this is the boy behind the superpowers. there is no confident ghost hero named Phantom except in the mind of Danny Fenton.

there is only a human boy who happens to have the power to take you the fuck down and when he gives you this look you better run.

Danny covering up his ghost fighting injuries and masking away the pain, still showing up to school even with cuts and gashes and broken bones and who knows what else (because he never goes to hospitals and just relies on his two teenage friends for alarmingly serious first aid and while they try their best they’re not exactly doctors), and takes getting beaten up by dash at school on top of all that without ever fighting back

dash doesn’t have any way to know about all the injuries this kid is sporting, so what happens if a punch happens to land in the wrong spot? routine bullying turns into a puncture lung from a broken rib getting knocked out of place, and now fenton’s on the ground coughing up blood and ‘oh god there’s no way I hit him that hard, this is bad, this is so bad’ 

if danny can get alone he can fix himself up, reach into his chest intangibly and rearrange his ribs to their correct positions, then go ghost until his lungs heal enough for him to not die, but there are people around, they saw the whole thing, and everyone’s panicking and he heard someone say they brought a teacher, who then called for an ambulance, and there is no way danny can just blow this one off as nothing, and he’s running out of oxygen fast and his thoughts are muddled together and he doesn’t know what to do except hope he doesn’t die as the world slowly fades to black

OKAY, so everyone remember Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons (AKA The Big Four)? So there was this amv of that set to Mayday Parade's cover of When I Grow Up. Basically Jack, Rapunzel, Merida, and Hiccup were supposed to be Guardians of... Something, but Hiccup begged MiM to take away his Guradian Abilities because he didn't fit it and the AMV followed that.

It then transitioned to Hiccup flying Toothless from the second movie and the other three discover it's him when he takes off his helmet.

That particular amv has been sTUCK IN MY BRAIN FOR YEARS but I'm pretty sure it was Privatized or removed, is there ANY CHANCE anyone has it saved somewhere?

Okay, so I don't actually think the video in question was deleted. I decided to research this myself for a bit and, while I couldn't find the actual video in question, I DID find a MEP set to the same song. The thing is, UMG took it down in every. single. country. The only exceptions being countries that you can't actually access on VPNs or anything (Somaliland, Kosovo, and N. Cyprus).

Where does that leave us?

First of all, this video is NOT going to show up in searches on YouTube. However, it could still be in a playlist. In that case, so long as this is actually the issue and it wasn't privated or deleted, it'll show up if you check to view unavailable videos, so that's where I'm moving my search. From there, you'll probably have to contact the person who made the video and see if they're willing to send you a copy.

I also think old fandom blogs would be a good place to look if there's a chance it could be on Tumblr.

I highly, highly doubt this is the video since the title implies that it's more of a tribute AMV than a story-driven one. But it does reinforce my theory that the video could be chilling in some random playlist. Though, admittedly, this fandom does have a lot of intentionally lost fanworks. It's sort of the nature of being a weird, niche internet thing: people grow out of it and decide it was cringe and that they want their involvement purged from the Internet. But hopefully that's not the case here and we can find it :)

It’s been my experience that fandom commentary becomes less comprehensible as you get older not because you’re unfamiliar with the media it’s talking about, but because you’re familiar with too many pieces of media it could plausibly be talking about. Like, I can think of six different things just off the top of my head that prominently feature a sexually repressed guy named Steve, and y’all are not bringing the necessary context to the table here.
