i would add the caveat that resentment can be normal sometimes, as long as it’s short-term and resolved properly. i’ve certainly had uncharitable thoughts about my loved ones that go a bit further than annoyance, but that rarely lasts more than like, a day, and then we talk it out and recognize each others’ positions and it’s all good again.

I mean, sure, if i did what i was supposed to and used those conflict-resolution skills from the start, that wouldn’t happen, but sometimes people are messy and get angry/hurt/frustrated and it takes a few hours for your brain to kick on the Maturity Switch. it’s normal to fuck up sometimes, it’s not normal for it to be an unending awful conflict.
