I am so so incredibly happy! Six years of work paid off! Marigold is doing great- 10 healthy eggs and 1 slug for this first time mama. The eggs are ENORMOUS too!
(disclaimer: that is her nest box, she does not live there blah blah)
A male eudimorphodon ventures down to the forest to hunt for suitable nesting material.

This is Nimona, I have been doodling her during my classes all week.
She’s a squire to some kind of medieval supervillain, it’s like steampunk but in the Middle Ages, so it’s…monkpunk. And she doesn’t wear pants.
It's a hot one! So today's beast is one that might like to sun itself before running back to shade, a lil Hognose Snake! They're so pretty and wee, and have a nice variety of colours available as they've been bred by reptile enthusiasts.
The fact that they will punch you with their little stumpy face instead of biting, and if that doesn't work, very stubbornly and insistently fake death is super endearing. Like tongue hanging out the mouth, flopped belly up, and they'll keep flipping to belly up if turned over. 'I told you! I'm dead!'
If you'd like a wee Hognose, or another reptile, please check out Bittythings and Beasts.

I had a really strange litter in April. This was my only imperator pairing for the season as most of my girls are on break, and because we had a big move planned beginning of summer.
The pairing was Sunkist (OT hypo harlequin het super stripe) x Spindrift, who was supposed to be a normal DH VPI T+ super stripe. As it turns out, Spindrift also proved to be motley, which was a bit of a shock as he displays zero motley traits.
The only rational explanation for the outcome is that Spindrift's single copy of the super stripe gene obscured the motley - but even that is strange, as SS tends to accentuate incomplete dominant striping, not hide it. I don't know how likely it is that the motley gene skipped being expressed in him, and was perhaps dormant (his father is a VPI T+ motley).
In addition to the motley surprise, the litter also came with some issues. We lost power in TX's big ice storm in February and weren't able to get a generator up and running fast enough to prevent a severe temp drop. My collection pulled through OK, but Sunkist's gestation was negatively impacted and all of the babies were born with kinking. The majority have some form of tail kinking. A few had severe spinal kinking and were euthanized. These are developmental issues due to improper temps during gestation, they are not genetic.
From this batch I chose 3 to hang onto. They have the barest of tail tip kinks and should not be impacted long term.
I will be looking for good pet only homes for the rest of the litter in a couple of months.
This snake morph guide is just meant to explain some basics of morphs. I would caution anyone in buying a pet that takes a high level of care just because it's pretty, and frankly any breeder that continues to breed morphs with physiological and neurological defects should be put out of business. I did my best as I find this interesting and believe there's a lot of misinformation out there due to people trying to literally sell things to their audience.
I included some links if you would like additional reading. They range from a study on captive care management, studies I could find relevant to the severe issue morphs, and some general on snake color and scales.
So this Leia standing up which is adorable and I would have posted on Reddit to /r/catsstandingup but I haven’t really figured out Tumblr yet so is there a #catsstandingup is that what I do someone help I’m an old man

Her necropsy didn’t reveal any immediate answers. Internally she looked like a healthy snake, organs looked good, no tumors, nothing unexpected. We’ve sent tissues off for histopathology, should get the results next week.
