I cannot tell you how devastated I was to learn that the Reindeer Police do not in fact ride reindeers.

Reindeer Police?

Reindeer Police! They’re a subdivision of the Norwegian police service, an itty bitty department responsible for monitoring Sámi reindeer herding.

They mostly assist indigenous communities with reindeer-related disputes, security, transportation, and prevention of environmental crimes. I am sad to report they ride snowmobiles, not reindeer :( 

Meanwhile, I am delighted to report that Finland has its own official Police Reindeer (her name is Maija)
