Spiderverse fanart :) such a sick movie, should’ve won Best Picture. A gif I made. Didn’t realise it was inspired by Baman Piderman until someone reminded me haha

Thank you @smallbutera for creating Baman Piderman :) I think it was one of the things I watched when I was probably like 13 that really made me feel like I could actually possibly animate, and pushed me to have a go at playing with a (then pirated) copy of flash. I didn’t realise how amazing the animation in the series really was until I was studying animation in uni! And the humour and writing was so healthy and wholesome, when everything else on youtube and newgrounds at the time wasn’t. And even now I get to be in awe of these beautiful bits of @smallbutera animation in Adventure Time @_@ thank you so so so much!!

I was reading this article about how much work and heart hiromu arakawa put into writing fullmetal alchemist and Silver spoon and I’m honestly so impressed???

-she talked with war veterans and people with disabilities to accurately depict characters with those backgrounds

-she also researched military corruption extensively

-she fought to bring in more female characters with her editors who opposed it

-she has told her readers that there is no shame in leaving an emotionally toxic situation and you should never feel guilty for it

-she based the situation with the ishvalan people off of a real displaced indigenous group called the ainu people in hokkaido to raise awareness of their situation

-she criticizes the notion of self sacrifice being a noble thing especially since it’s such a prevalent theme in most shonen manga

-she worked on a farm with a lot of hardworking women and wanted her work to reflect just how complex real women can be rather than overdone anime stereotypes

-she has stated that she thinks there is value in not repressing anger in the face of injustice, and she thinks it’s good to use that anger in constructive ways

-she has emphasized in her story that you don’t always have to forgive the people who hurt you

-she worked on and alongside several other manga one shots, illustrations, character designs, anime adaptions, movie adaptions, and light novels all while having three kids over the course of her career

I don’t even think this is everything I read but hiromu arakawa is a goddamn badass

Elf androgyny and dwarf androgyny and orc androgyny are like three very different forms of androgyny and defiance of the binary and they’re all so good

Elf: everyone’s pretty, but has no ass.

Dwarf: everyone’s hairy, but has no ass.

Orc: everyone’s SHREDDED and can crack walnuts between their cheeks.

Goblin androgyny: you’re small and horrible and you’re pretty certain that ‘gender’ was a kind of beetle you ate last week.

Tiefling androgyny: Aesthetic™️ is the new gender

when i first saw him i thought he was pondering at his reflection in the water but then i realized hes just begging for this drowned to come to the surface so he can chuck him across the river like the sack of wet meat he is

that caption got better and better with every word

last summer I saw a giant moth who had fallen into a water trough, and I gently lifted her out so she could dry her wings and fly away. This was an act of great foresight on my part, as I know that one day, when I am in grave danger and all hope is fading…she will appear, and remember me from long ago, and lift me out of the water trough that I have fallen into. I’m telling you, this moth was huge

I didn’t realize ;-;

Okay I reblogged this before BUT the visual contrast between the first scene and the second one is fantastic. The first sets Peter’s vibrantly multicolored suit up against the black & white colors of the reactor; the second does the same thing, but switches the palettes. Now the background is in reds and blues and Miles’ suit is the black and white. And he still catches the eye in a screen full of moving parts. THIS MOVIE, GUYS.
