Can I be a Jerk Yet?

Terri, Pre-E trans woman she/her,they/them, 25, Scorpio. wlw. I post whatever is on my mind. That said, most of my conscious thought is devoted to my fandoms. Mostly Steven Universe, and Homestuck atm with some occasional ATLA. Art tag is "Shameless Self Promotion Tag"

i see a convo w a character ai and i keep scrolling

listen im seeing tags about people agreeing that ai bots can be really inaccurate and i want to point out that this is NOT about that. the ai bot can be as accurate as you want it to be i still get mad at em.

its not about how good they do at emulating a character, its about that they aren’t a person making creative choices and i hate that. i want to enjoy my characters with other people. hold my hand and tell me all about why you think your blorbo is autistic or likes your favourite shitty band. i love you. if a bot randomly shuffles those opinions out idc if theyre even the same ones im exploding it with my mind.

What’s the point of loving content if I know there isn’t someone as obsessively fucked up as me sitting on the other side of the internet

in school I used to wear fake glasses while doing writing assignments so that the teachers would think I was smarter and grade my tests higher (this actually worked, for the record)

this kind of backfired in a pavlovian way because now I literally have to put on a pair of glasses and activate Smart Mode when I write anything longer than a few paragraphs

it's just very fortunate that "I can't write without my glasses" is an honest statement that doesn't raise any eyebrows

The Great Lakes and Saint Lawrence River superimposed on a map of Europe

…OH.

I googled it once and the only reason why the Great Lakes aren’t called inland seas is because they are entirely freshwater, not salt.

By any other metric they’d be seas. Superior especially (the big one in the upper left) behaves like a small ocean, and has claimed at least 250 ships and over 1000 people. Gordon Lightfoot wrote a frankly chilling song about her that I’ll include here:

Reblogging for the map as well as for Gordon Lightfoot.

This is the best AITA because on the actual matter at hand I'd say he's kinda right (ish), $4900 for a week of work is really good money and they can always celebrate later. He should have obviously talked it over with her first but still. What makes him an asshole (or just like, a really really weird person) is every other detail that is tangentially mentioned.

Was walking alone through the alley behind my apartment and saw a weird guy so I checked that I had my pepper spray and I guess the guy saw me do that because he said "Don't worry, I'm more scared of you than you are of me" and I said "Ok" and he said "I'm terrified of women"

Happy International Women's Day to this dude, wherever he is now

there is so much to adore about dungeon meshi but it really boils down to it being a work full of passion and wonder. you can tell ryoko kui is genuinely fascinated by the monsters and the world and the people living in it and the relationships they share with each other and their environment. there are questions and there are reasons and there are mysteries and they often leave you struggling but you can't help being drawn to them nonetheless. it's in the way she draws her characters and the way she totally thought about most of the questions popping in our minds way before we ever got to know her story. it's heartwarming and sincere, and there's something almost nostalgic about it. it's about the hunger for knowledge and the hunger for connection and the hunger for acceptance and it's self indulgent but still has an appeal to others. simply timeless

fun fact: the reason that the plural of goose is geese but the plural of moose is not meese is because goose derives from an ancient germanic word undergoing strong declension, in the pattern of foot/feet and tooth/teeth, wherein oo is mutated to ee. however ‘moose’ is a native american word added to the english lexicon only ~400 years ago, and lacks the etymological reason to be pluralized in that way.

Oh baby.  Keep talking dirty to me.
