Harry Potter and Gender Roles
My favorite thing about the Harry Potter books is that the women can be domestic and homely and feminine but still play sports and be completely independent strong leaders and have careers/lives of their own. The men are still sensitive and involved in their families’ lives and just as good teachers/caregivers/lovers/friends as the women. Bless JK Rowling for not following traditional gender roles.
Update: I recant this statement. JK Rowling sucks. Some of her characters are great examples of not strictly adhering to traditional gender traits but the sentiment loses some value when she says inappropriately transphobic things.

- When she’s waiting for her OWLS because I find her reactions adorable, funny and ridiculous at the same time
- Her staying up late knitting hats for the house-elves

- One of my personal favorites: The meeting with Harry, Luna and Rita Skeeter .

- reminded diego in his own way of what he loved best about eudora patch, and that murdering her killers would never be the way she wanted to be honored
- told allison that if ever they got out of the apocalypse alive, he would be honored to meet his niece, therefore making her smile
- spent 45 years in the future and what's the first thing he does upon returning? compliment klaus' skirt
- was the only one to recognize that klaus had time-travelled, continuously asked him for his help all throughout season 1, and even told him about his first love, delores

- loved delores so much that he carried her around for four decades, and as soon as he got back to 2019, immediately went to her department store display and admitted that he missed her a lot
- said "pogo?" in the smallest voice ever and tried to give him a hug, despite making it pretty clear in the past that he doesn't exactly encourage being touched
- was the only sibling whose room vanya didn't blow up because he was always nice to her, even though he was extremely powerful and she was, for all they knew, ordinary
- always made his siblings feel like he was better than them--and knows it--but was sensitive enough to never make vanya feel like anything less than a wonderful human being
- was outright called vanya's "sole confidante" and the only one she would perform her new violin pieces for
- never wanted to harm vanya outright, even though he knew that she would always be the reason the apocalypse happens, and insisted that they take her with them so they could finally start treating her right instead
- told vanya that her concerns and love for sissy and harlan were valid, and that no one is insignificant
- pushed luther out of the way of a crumbling ceiling, despite the fact that luther could take it and he was already bone-tired from killing the board and dealing with the after-effects of paradox psychosis
- was already dying of multiple gunshot wounds by the end, but one look at his family's cooling bodies gave him enough strength to rewind time so they could have another shot at going back to the present and being an actual family
- and in conclusion, is basically a grumpy old man who just has so much love for his family that the idea of getting back to them gave him enough strength to survive not one but two freaking apocalypses, one after the other, and come out more or less victorious by the end
Watching umbrella acedemy and how the fuck is Reginald going to read baby Pogo to bed but cant spare 2 fucking seconds to acknowledge the 7 children he took in? Like that the hell??
Can we please talk about Vanya and Five?
How Vanya left snacks for Five every single night, because she thought that would make him stay? How he was the only one who was nice to her, who talked to her, included her? Or how Vanya was the first person Five reached out to when he came back? The first name he called out when he saw the destroyed mansion? How he never raised his voice at her, and even apologized and softened it when he did? How every single one of his super powerful siblings were idiots to him but shy, socially-awkward Vanya, was his favorite? How the only fights we ever get of the two of them on screen is when everything is high-stakes, and even then he still tries to be soft with her and relents and just tells her to hurry up and get her lesbian SO and their son and be back before time runs out? Or when they disagree about saving Harland he still goes with her with the rest of bunch?
I just find them so great and I think everyone should know that no matter what, Five was a damn good older brother.

what i read in the books is not only that all trio members are capable and smart in their own right, but that they really do work best when they're together, bc they combine so many facets in one team. like... i truly think it's a triangle.
harry & ron are good under pressure. hermione isn't. but harry is good in a much more focused way, whereas ron has a broader vision.
hermione & harry are both very single-minded. ron isn't. but hermione is much more academic in her obsessiveness, whereas harry is much more physical & worldly.
ron & hermione are both emotionally competent. harry isn't (he's good and cares fiercely, but i don't think he's had much of a chance to learn how to interact with people). only hermione is more analytical about it, whereas ron is intuitive and makes people feel at ease.
