a lot of people to this day think that a professional ice skater did those skating scenes from i, tonya (2017) but it was all margot robbie… she literally trained five days a week for five months and her skating coach was astonished with her progress AND SHE DIDNT EVEN GET NOMINATED FOR HER ROLE like her 3D head scans were taken and then were superimposed on her doubles’ faces when they skated close to the camera but for someone to train 5 times a week for 5 months… SHE HAS THE RANGEEEE

Margot Robbie Deserves Better

This is actually what method acting is.

Maybe some dude bros in Hollywood should write it down.

Time to start a “Margot Robbie deserves an Oscar” meme

Women: *run up the side of buildings and train like an Olympic athlete* method acting

Men: *act like fucked up mysoginsitic jerks who terrorize others* method acting

Theoretically I don’t object to the idea of Harley Quinn moving away from The Joker’s influence and having that reflected in her costume, but that’s… not what her character designers have done. They’ve dropped the clown theme for a design based on a skimpy cheerleading uniform in the same colors as her traditional costume. If Harley’s costume change is supposed to reflect a new idependence, it shouldn’t be based on her old costume at all and should be something new and cool to represent self-reinvention, not just “we didn’t think the clown theme was sexy enough to sell to a modern audience”.

HOWEVER. You know what would be fun? If Harley decided to out-clown the Joker and steal his theme from him. Commit to the act in a way he never could and actually take up classes on clowning and physical comedy. Become Dr. Harley Quinn, the DCU’s leading expert on being a clown. When people think “the clown from Gotham” they don’t think of The Joker at all. That would be sweet, sweet revenge that I would love to read.

“The clown from Gotham.” “Which one?” “The one who knows what she’s doing.”

“It’s that clown again.” “I thought he was in Metropolis this week?” “Clown as in clown, not clown as in embarrassment to humanity.” “Oh, the doctor.”

Doctor Clown

(nodding) Doctor Clown.

Even if you don't think/know that you have [disorder] (or even if you know you don't!) you're allowed to use coping strategies meant for or associated with that disorder. You can use ADHD tips for your poor memory. You can stim even if you're not autistic (stimming has a lot of overlap between disorders honestly). You can use chronic fatigue tips if you have depression. You're not stealing resources. If it helps you, it helps you, whether you were the target audience or not

#dismantling the 'but am I hurting ENOUGH?' brain voice improves the life immeasurably

This really shouldn’t need to be said but in today’s climate of policing... YES! you are allowed; do what works for you. If it improves your life, that’s all that matters.

I still can't believe Th*r: Ragnar*k wrote out all three main female characters from the first two films (after the fourth was killed in TDW) and people were just cool with it

the first three songs(the lakes. seven, epiphany) signify wanting to run away and finding a safe space cause everything feels like a storm and you just escape and the next three songs(cardigan, mirrorball, exile) all talk about how no matter how hard you try, the dark times are a part of you and they come back and you can't escape them

Love their reactions. They aren’t worried about being emasculated, they aren’t insecure, they are just genuinely impressed that she’s lifting like a beast!

I don’t know if anyone else does this, I’ll spend a few hours writing up a detailed outline of a story I want to write complete with snippets of dialogue and metaphors I want to use and everything, and then I’ll just sit back and be like “there! It’s done!” and ignore the story for the next five months.

Honestly disturbing how many of my posts criticizing media get responses along the lines of “well, guess I’m not watching/reading/listening to this now :/”

That is not a healthy way to view media. You all know that, right? It is not healthy to completely brush something off because of criticism from one person, and it’s certainly not healthy to interpret that criticism as saying that something is irredeemable.

When I criticize media, I’m not saying “this is evil and terrible and disgusting and no one should ever like it or enjoy it”. I’m saying “this has some issues, same as anything else, and we should discuss those issues in a healthy and constructive way.” I am telling people to come to their conclusions using the information and opinions I’ve shared combined with their own experiences and opinions on the matter.

God. Stop “cancelling” Animal Crossing or Percy Jackson or whatever and just learn to be critical of the media you consume instead of accepting everything, positive or negative, at face value.

being touchstarved makes u absolutely buckwild when someone does smth simple like .share a chair with u

like having someone touch your hand with the tips of their fingers shouldn’t feel like So Much it shouldn’t feel like your whole body is going into anaphylactic shock but here we are. here we are.

ok 2 many of u relate

Someone gave me a compliment and reached out and squeezed my hand and I fell in love and couldn’t speak for several minutes

I was just gonna type this in the tags but I have to say this.

Growing up in North America is surreal.  Every tiny little blip of physical affection is deemed as sexual interest. Boys aren’t allowed to hug eachother because “that’s gay.” Girls can’t hold hands because “are they going out?” And GOD FORBID a female friend hugs a male friend.

Having lived in the Netherlands, and reading up about shit like this, Canadians and Americans are starving

I went to Japan for a school trip in 2012. I went to a highschool there. There were boys hugging, lounging on those blue gym floor mats, holding hands, trowing their arms around eachother. I was startled by how shocked I was.

This mentality of “if you’re touching you must have sexual interest in the other person” is so fucking disgusting. Hug your friends. Hold hands with them. Touch their hands when you want to reassure them.

Normalize platonic physical contact before we all die from lack of it
