DASHBOARD UNFUCKER V1.0
as 90% of desktop users have probably found out, today @staff released an update that for some insane reason COMPLETELY remodels the dashboard to replicate twitter's. this is of course in the wake of numerous other thoroughly hated changes and a continued refusal to fix any of the site's actual problems, half of which stem directly from site management.
HOWEVER, thanks to the power of jQuery, i was able to throw together a userscript that remodels the dashboard back to its original look almost perfectly.
here is my dashboard right now, with the script active:

it's hardly perfect; i had trouble making it force reload to the fixed layout when switching between other pages and the dashboard, and it currently only fixes just the dashboard. it's also completely untested on browsers other than firefox, and chances are it looks a bit screwy on ultrawide monitors. but for now at least, it's a good fix.
the unfucker is a tampermonkey userscript. all you have to do to use it is install the tampermonkey extension, hit "create new script", and replace the default code on the page with the script (link here) and save it.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS DESKTOP LAYOUT BRO!!!!!!!! THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!! why the fuck are there post buttons in TWO separate places why do you have to have the following notifications on the top AND sidebar why is it so goddamn cluttered and compact this SUCKS BRO!!!!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING
this genuinely fucking blows as your site layout there's way too much fucking shit on the screen what was the purpose of moving all that shit from the right-hand side to the left it's way too goddamn busy the fucking top following notification bubble follows you as you scroll down so no matter what that's always there in two separate places and it just seems like an unprofessional oversight same with the two post buttons the way it was before where there Was a second post button but it was less intrusive because it was built into the top bar that follows you as you scroll down so it worked in tandem with the lineup of six buttons that have been there from the start, whereas this just looks like they forgot they already had buttons somewhere it looks like when you have two conflicting browser addons that both change site layout but since they conflict there's just doubles of all the buttons and it looks Bad.
WHY THE FUCK DOES THE ACTIVITY POPUP BLOCK THE POSTS YOU'RE LOOKING AT!!!!!!!! WHY IS THE RIGHT-HAND PANEL SO EMPTY!!!!!!!! PUT THAT SHIT BACK WHERE IT BELONGS NOW!!!!!!!!
