found family trope but they’re misfits, outcasts, and criminals: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

important market research question: what lines from tv shows or movies just forever knock you on your ass no matter how many times you hear them? there’s a lot but it’s a toss up between “i’m not a religious person but I do sometimes think god made you for me” (normal people) or “it is worth it. and everything around it is worth it….every moment. everything is worth it.” and “we’re more than just psychology” (bones)

You know what I fucking love?

That even the most cynical, vulgar cartoons of Rooster Teeth are about friendship and redemption

I’m so fucking happy that in red vs blue, the longest series that basically started out as internet jokes of 2004 and is about soldiers fighting a war, has had so far 3 edgy motherfuckers bordering on villains have a redemption arc just because the protagonists were nice to them

It’s so fucking cute and wholesome and I need it

I need the confirmation that adult cartoons don’t have to be about how much life sucks and how friendship is useless etc because “that’s not how the real world works”

Well, the real world doesn’t have space wars against aliens either, so I think redemption is the more likely course.

AIs have to know they're not really "potential humans" or if they don't they'll try and take that status for themselves. Otherwise what's a Meta for?

the purest form of love is necromancy.

you loved them so dearly you literally cannot live without them? you need them so badly that you would resort to staining your very soul to get them home? you dream of their love and their warmth and you are willing to let your heart grow cold to feel it again? no deeper love exists.

honestly i never really appreciated church and tex's relationship dynamic until recently and honestly that's a tragedy on my part. here's this woman who dies at war and leaves a fucken heartbroken husband left behind. he carries the weight of her death so much that the ai he gets, a copy of his own personality, has a shadow of her made as a by-product, and instead of destroying it, he puts it in a robotic body and it torments their daughter as he focuses more on resurrecting his wife completely by ripping apart the ai copy of himself, to the point where it is nigh unrecognizable. the memory of his wife is infuriated when she finds out, tries her best to save the ai copy from this hell where he is tortured until he forcibly fractionates parts of himself to try and spare his sanity, and she fucken fails. and the story turns into the memory of this man and the memory of this woman becoming more and more removed from what they were, still in love with each other but just so incapable of being anything they once were to each other as they continually are destroyed and remade.

god fucking damm. makes you almost forget that a man was impregnated by an alien a couple seasons before that.

there is no franchise more dense in blorbos than red vs blue. that shit is PARASITIC it can be like 10000 years later but those little halo bitches will still be there in your brain its like microplastics

so fond of characters who haunt their stories, who exist without actually existing at all. when a character is long gone, but persists in the actions and words of all the characters they have left behind. when everything to come unfolds because of them. when they are both dead and the beating heart at the very center of the narrative... that’s the stuff 💗__💗

it’s like... all of this happened because of you, and you weren’t even around to see it

RVB loremasters please help a fella out I'm losing my mind !!!

why why why on god's green flat earth was Agent Connecticut's case against the Director not enough to take him down?

those data chips she'd given to Tex and CT both contained critical intel she collected about the Director's 'many crimes' (though she helpfully doesn't state which of his many crimes, we can assume there's evidence for something in there), and presumably document the creation of Beta and the other AI, as Tex is able to figure out what happened to Alpha simply by going through those files.

So what happened to this information? I find it hard to believe that CT, after tearfully watching her die and assuming her identity, just said fuck it and never followed up on the trail she died to go down. Or Tex, who has reason to fight for justice for both her and Alpha's behalf.

one thing that may be a clue -- in S10E10 "CT", Connie said with her dying breath, "Take the info. It's not complete but it will get them started. Find the new artifact."

??

What is the "new artifact" she's talking about? Based on the way the episode is structured, we're led to believe that it's whatever CT was searching for in the desert, but how could anything in that temple relate to project freelancer?

I can think of two things.

  1. the orb or "relic" that Epsilon inhabits. at this point, though, the Epsilon implantation drama hadn't gone down and Connie would have no way of predicting that Epsilon would be a key article of evidence later on, or that he would need to/be able to inhabit this random orb in the desert. plus if we follow Halo lore, it's just a long-broken sentinel AI that may have some useful info about the temple, but again, nothing at all relevant to Connie. so I call BS on that theory.
  2. a huragok. in other words, that biomechanical alien creature the Freelancers nicked from the cryogenics facility that was later used by the Director to split Alpha into other AI. if this is the case, it would imply that Connie knew exactly how the AI fragments were created. using Halo lore again, Huragoks are amazing nano-engineers and incredibly rare to find outside the Covenant--they are basically so OP that to own one would probably mean an incredible advantage for humanity, so if the UNSC found out that the Director was secretly hoarding one for his build-your-own-dead-wife pet project, that would be VERY BAD. but i'm not really sold on this theory, either, because she says CT needs to find a 'new' artifact, not necessarily the one the Director used. was the plan for him to find a random little guy from this ultra rare alien species, and bring him before a court room to prove that it could be possible to split an AI with one? eh, probably not.

So I ask again: Connie, babe, what the fuck artifact are you talking about??? Also why didn't your sacrifice mean ANYTHING in the grand scheme of things? 😭

I know I should probably let this go because ~plot holes? in my rvb? it's more likely than you think~ but I've been trying to plot out this one fic for a really long time and just cannot find a way to write around this I need a second opinion

I don’t have the spoons to write up a full explanation right now (I am convalescing in bed and very ill) so I will instead provide these bullet points that help explain:

  • the most egregious (and possibly only) crime the UNSC would have even cared about the Director committing was breaching the Cole Protocol
  • as explained on Halo Alpha, following the Cole Protocol had implications in the areas of use of AIs, as well as the scavenging of alien artifacts
  • but as further explained in this post by my friend Anne, the Cole Protocol actually got broken all the time, at least if you were affiliated with ONI

tl;dr it almost certainly refers to the Forerunner Sentinel bot from the Temple.

caboose was right though, helmets are faces

i see a locus helmet anywhere else? no that’s sam “locus” ortez. scout helmet? felix. odst helmets? no those are the Innies. Mark 5? hi, Caboose~ Mark 6 Mjolnir? omg sim troopers. Cyan Recon helmet? That’s Agent Carolina. EOD helmet? Automatically Connie. EVA helmet - instant Maine. Fotus helmet? Hi Spencer… *sighs, braces myself to say it* Porkensenson…

Anyway onto actual rvb posting. It'd be funny if Lopez condescendingly put English-to-Spanish stickers on everything in red base so they'd passively learn words for objects. Primarily the tools & things (SARGE.) but Doc sees him doing it and joins in so now it's EVERYWHERE
