The weekend is over and the prompt days are done, but the fanged festivities continue over on AO3 with a late submission grace period of one whole (vampire) week!

The Terror Vampire Weekend 2021 AO3 collection will close on NOVEMBER 5.

Slight update! Due to life getting in the way, some people wanted a bit more of an extension and the collection will be closing the evening of SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7th instead!

Don’t worry if you can’t make the new deadline either, though, because we’ll also be opening a year-round Terror vampire collection where people can stick anything! Add your event fics from this year, add older vampire works, or write something new! Vampire times can be all year round if you believe! Watch this space for more details on that soon. 🦇

OK SO I GOT THIS IDEA FOR AN AU LAST NIGHT when I was about to fall asleep about Vampire!Crozier who turns Jopson, Irving, Hodgson and Little in a rapid succession of events and they become a coven, up until the day vampire hunter!Hickey tries to end up Crozier's whole career by attempting on Irving's life (the weakest link given his crisis of faith)... I don't know where I'm going with this, of if I'll ever continue it, but I wanted to share, as it was your art that inspired me ;D

aw thank you for sharing!!! and i'd love to see where you take this idea, this is so very fun―irving being the weakest link made me laugh way too much than it should've... poor vampire falling victim to a "devious seducer"

also hearing about crozier's coven set my brain on fire because i immediately and erroneously imagined something like resident evil village's lady dimitrescu and her daughters, so here are the boys demanding attention from their dad

It has come to my drunken attention that there’s some kind of event with The Terror and vampires for this most blessed of days, Halloween.  If I may, I humbly submit my multi-chapter The Terror vampire anthology.  Who has been a vampire so far?  Whoo… Francis, Dr. MacDonald, Mr. Des Voeux, Edward, Mr. Goodsir, Dr. Stanley, Mr. Blanky.  Those are, I think you will agree, a great many vampires.  Have I finished with writing about vampires and The Terror?  Dear Reader, I have not yet begun to write about vampires and The Terror.  This is a work in progress. Oh, you want romance?  Read it and weep.  Jopson/Francis.  Jopson/Edward.  Goodsir/James.  Goodsir/MacDonald.  Goodsir/Stanley.  MacDonald/every fucking man on the ship. You want metaphors?  Get your fucking metaphors.  Vampirism as, variously, alcoholism, homosexuality, mental illness, transgenderism, colonialism, chronic illness.  I’ve got romantic vampires, sympathetic vampires, gross vampires, horrific vampires, camp vampires. It is, Dear Reader, if I do say so myself, an embarrassment of vampires.

“You’ve accused me of melodrama before, so let me be clear that what I’m about to say now is nothing but the cold hard truth.” Francis fixed James with a forthright stare. “I wish to turn you into a vampire.”

Jumping on the @terrorvampireweekend bandwagon to re-post an old fic because the more vampires the better, right?

Francis Crozier/James Fitzjames, 10065 words, rated M for sex and mild violence and blood

#terrorvampireweekend day 3! (happy halloween! 👻)

prompt: bats 🦇

The bats are quite endearing, actually. They chatter and chirp incessantly – not unlike Jacko, but in a higher pitch. Their leathery wings are soft, their eyes fathomless. And what freedom it is to fly, to move above! It even makes Franklin forget the phantom pain in his leg.

He wonders if he should alert the Admiralty of his condition. Lady Franklin vehemently dissuades him. “If they find out,” she says, “they won’t so much as give you command over a steamboat on the Thames ever again! Stiff upper lip, dearest. Pretend the blood in your glass is simply wine.”

prompt: running water 🌊

The candle has burnt almost to a stub. Goodsir takes off his spectacles and rubs his eyes, staring at the notes scattered haphazardly across his desk. Vampirology is still a highly unsystematized field of study, overcrowded with superstitions. He’s met educated men still convinced of vampires’ inability to cross running water, for instance, though scientific studies on the matter return inconclusive findings.

He sighs and looks outside. The city is asleep; not even the lamplighters are awake yet. The River Clyde flows darkly beneath the window of his rented Glasgow house.

Running water.

Might he not conduct an experiment himself?

dialogue prompt 🎃

The scariest thing about this time of year isn’t the plastic skeletons on people’s lawns, or the overhyped slasher flicks, or even the truly reprehensible “sexy coronavirus” costumes on eBay. No, it’s the knowledge that the history department’s annual Halloween party is looming on the horizon.

“Francis, good to see you!” says Prof. Fitzjames around the plastic vampire teeth in his mouth. “Fangs muchly for coming.”

“Hullo, James.” Prof. Crozier looks around. “Is this really a good idea? I mean, the pandemic isn’t exactly over –”

“Oh, come on, everyone’s vaccinated. Besides, John says it’s fine. Have some fruit punch!”

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: The Terror (TV 2018) Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Relationships: Ann Coulman Ross/James Clark Ross Characters: Ann Coulman Ross, James Clark Ross, Original Characters Additional Tags: Vampires, Blood and Gore, Violence Summary:

First, she saw the strange, terrifying drawings. Monstrous creatures descended upon poor, wailing humans; like demons torturing damned souls. Their sharp teeth sank into their paperwhite flesh. Ink black blood spilt and flowed like a river. A part of her wanted to slam the book shut and push it back into the empty space where it belonged. Yet she held it firmly. She stared down at the sharp teeth and ink-black blood. She thought of the cold, blue bodies laying on dead leaves. Slowly, she turned the page. “The Vampire is an immortal creature of the night…” She read. “It feeds on the blood of innocent souls..” She turned her gaze to the accompanying drawing of a human-like creature shrouded in black ink. Its white fangs glinted. “Vampires are created when a human consumes the blood of a vampire, saving them from the curse of Death…To kill one of these creatures is next to impossible… A wooden stake will pin it down to the Earth. Then one must remove the head…”

#terrorvampireweekend day 2!

prompt: moonlight 🌕

Hodgson wakes up, and he is hungry. He is hungrier than he ever remembers feeling when he was alive – not even when he sat on the shale and tore pieces of leather off his boots. He’s cold, too. But it no longer bothers him, somehow.

At a ball, a lady pricks her finger on a rose. The smell of blood nearly makes him moan with wanting. But he’s still a civilized man, still an officer and a gentleman – he cannot simply –

To distract himself, he sits down at the clavier and begins to play the Moonlight Sonata.

*

prompt: silver 🍴

Wooden stake, sharpened to a point. Pistol, fully loaded. Hand mirror, for checking reflections. Bulbs of garlic, tied on a string and wound around his chest several times.

Blanky looks over his equipment with a cocky grin; satisfied with his preparations, he sticks his pipe in his mouth and puffs a ring of smoke into the cool night air. He’s battled stranger beasts in his life, far stranger. What’s so fearsome about a bloodsucking bastard who can’t even stand the sun?

The one thing he hasn’t got is a crucifix – but a silver fork should do in a pinch.

dialogue prompt 🍷

“Put a bullet in my head before I drink blood,” says Crozier. “Or a stake through my heart, rather.”

Jopson responds with a light, nervous laugh.

“I mean it,” says the captain.

“But will you not – starve to death, sir?”

Crozier raises an eyebrow in that venomous, sardonic way of his. Jopson feels a warm rush of affection in spite of himself. Oh, my captain.

“I’m already dead, Mr Jopson.” He sighs. “No. I’ll be weakened, certainly. Desperate, perhaps.” The corner of his mouth turns up in a sad smile. “I may beg you. But you mustn’t let me.”
