i forget breaking bad is commonly seen as like a Boys show cause ive been on here for so long. When a man says he watches breaking bad it sounds like hes telling me he watches gossip girl
I hate the cosmetic surgery industry for so many reasons I really do. But the line between cosmetic and medically necessary plastic surgeries is as a cloud, and we cannot sacrifice bodily autonomy for bans so. We need to dismantle white supremacy and the patriarchy in order to effectively tackle the issue. I should be able to get elective top surgery without medicalising my transness you get?
I had a breast reduction when I was 16. I was so top heavy that my back had started spasming badly by the time I was 12, if I hadn’t been able to get my reduction, I would’ve been in more extreme pain for much longer. The relief was almost instant. Just one example of medically necessary plastic surgery, in case people aren’t sure what that looks like.
Medically necessary plastic surgery also includes removing excess skin when someone loses a lot of weight: skin folds can become infected. Burn victims’ skin grafts, those are plastic surgery too. The field covers a lot more than people think.
Harold Gillies, now considered to be the father of modern plastic surgery, developed most of his techniques (many of which are still in use today) specifically to reconstruct the faces of men who'd been injured in WW1.
Advances in weaponry meant that, for the first time, men were coming home from war with literally half their faces blown off, on a regular basis. This was not only traumatic— there were cases of men cancelling engagements or being afraid to see their families, because of their disfigurements— but also caused problems with every day tasks like speaking and eating, in which your face plays a pretty key role.
Gillies arranged for a whole ward, and later a hospital, to be dedicated to the treatment of these men, and took steps to ensure that all soldiers who received these kinds of injuries on the battlefield would be sent to him directly. He developed methods for applying skin grafts so that larger portions of the face could be repaired.
He continued his work treating wounded soldiers throughout WW1 and WW2, and when both wars were ended— just in case he hadn't done enough to establish himself as a full on hero— he was then approached by a medical student named Michael Dillon, a trans man, and was able to use the same techniques he'd developed to reconstruct the penises of wounded soldiers to give him a phalloplasty. The first one ever performed on a trans man. He even diagnosed the guy with a condition to explain the frequent operations, so as to avoid outing him.
Dillon later wrote a book about trans-ness, which inspired Roberta Cowell, who became the first British transwoman to get a vaginoplasty, also performed by Gillies.
In both cases, the techniques he developed were still being used in similar operations decades later. Gillies himself stated that he wanted no publicity for performing these operations, saying that "If it gives real happiness, that is the most that any surgeon or medicine can give.”
It's so dark sided how grown women infantilized themselves while young girls adultify themselves to be sexually attractive to men. In general most ppl don't value maturity (which involved boundaries and self respect) in women. Girls who are applauded for being mature are just the most obedient and agreeable. Maturity is doing what you want and accepting the consequences, not listening to ppl or taking on others responsibilities.
i can’t stop doing this stupid little pose when i see a mirror
i think long term relationships in your teens and early 20s is so damaging for girls. like i dont feel like these girls are really growing to be their own people but rather to accommodate their boyfriends plans and futures. they start giving up opportunities and changing plans in order to be near their boyfriends and keep that relationship going. they skip out on great colleges, chances to study abroad, great jobs, moves that would be better for them, all sorts of new experiences, just for a boy who would likely never do the same for her. its so stunting and its sad how often ive seen it happen
I saw a tiktok about how diagnosis of mental health conditions at an early age is not a privilege and it's so true -- when your behavior is so extreme and your quality of life is so bad your school can't even handle it and demands you be evaluated, it's not a positive. You have so much autonomy stripped from you as well and the shit they try to do to "help" that ends up further traumatizing you because you're a child and don't know what these adults are doing. Like I would literally scream and cry for help alone in a room. Kindergarten has suuuuch bad memories. I didn't ask for any of this. My family didn't ask for it!

Republican fascism depends on maximum corruption and hypocrisy by their leaders.
love david and goliath being like one of the main bible stories for kids. like yeah you might be small but with god on your side you can kill someone with a rock
So being a child who grew up in a Christian family. One question you end up having as a Christian child is a favourite Bible story. Mine was the one where the king of Babylon throws three brothers into a furnace because they would not bow to him as a god. And because the brothers had faith in God, they were immune to the fires of the furnace proving the night of their god.
Now I think the appeal to me as a kid was “faith in god gives you fireproof superpowers” but in hindsight, it must of made my parents a bit concerned that my favourite Bible story was the one where people are thrown into a furnace to be burned alive.
Also oddly morbid Bible stories that are taught to kids. Noah’s Ark. like sure it has animals and the Irgun of the rainbow. But it also starts with God killing literally everyone but Noah’s family and some animals.
And these are the people that cry “think of the children” when two men hold hands. You can excuse mass genocide and brutal execution. But you draw the line at gays
super telling that ai art losers keep returning to "democratizing art" as if it's some secret gatekept privilege and not something that literally every proficient artist has spend hours days years wrangling and mastering
if you wanna do art just pick up a pencil and start writing/drawing. literal skill issue.
if your concern is genuinely that proficient art has a high barrier to entry (valid) then your solution shouldn't be to replace the artist. your solution should be to foster societal conditions that enable art (fair wages, more free time, greater emphasis on art as a social necessity, etc).
"capitalism breeds innovation" was only ever true in the mid-2000s when cell phones kept getting more and more fucked up
nourishing my soul by stealing and consuming the souls of those that I find mildly annoying only
we actually entered hell when liberal men started acting like watching or buying porn and paying for sex was actually activism because it helped “support less fortunate women”
get this jumpscare off my post its womens day...also for every man who pays for sex there are 1,000 of them viewing the screenshotted video for free on a torrent site i hope he gets skinned alive
