Text ID: “Sometimes,” said Julia, “I feel the past and the future pressing so hard on either side that there’s no room for the present at all.”

5 artists to check out if you like nicole dollanganger's music

• mercy necromancy - angel of death
mercy necromancy definitely has the most similar sound, style, and subject matter to nicole. sweet haunting vocals contrasted with gothic lyrics, slow soothing tempos
hannah fury - sweet heart
hannah has a similar whispery singing style, but her music features more piano, fairy tale & circus themes, and a mood that's more sorrowful than it is dark
mooney - nzo
like mercy, mooney's singing style is super similar to nicole - when I first heard this song I thought it was a new nicole dollanganger song. the biggest difference is the backing for her tracks is less acoustic and more modern, and her lyrics are centered around themes like relationships and depression
• flower face - baby teeth
flower face is the alto balancing this list out. soft sweet low vocals, simple acoustic guitars, female-centric lyrics exploring themes of power, sex, and love
• alice glass - everybody else
easily the most aggressive music choice on this list, alice glass's music sounds exactly like what would happen if a gothic doll came to life. again, gorgeous high girlish vocals contrasted with heavy bass and electronic noise. her lyrics centre around abusive relationships and struggling with mental illness
I know it's been a while since nicole dollanganger has released new music so if you're like me and have every album memorised this might be a nice way to pass the time. also I've seen a lot of negativity lately and wanted to bring something positive to the tags
feel free to add to this list <3

*lies awake in the middle of the night thinking about how tom was lying awake in the middle of the night and after glancing over at his sleeping wife he texts her gangly nepotism cousin that he is weirdly obsessed with and arranges to meet up with him at a diner so he can find comfort in the knowledge that, for whatever reason, at least one person in this world needs him*

yall know the feeling when you're reading a fanfiction and you read a line/dialog that's just so beautiful that you rethink all your life choices and want to start being a better person so you just stare at it like:

when hanya yanagihara said “and so i try to be kind in everything i see, because in everything i see, i see him” and when hanya yanagihara said “‘what can i do?’ willem asked. ‘nothing,’ jude said. they were quiet. ‘but willem—will you stay with me for a little while?’ ‘of course,’ he said” and when hanya yanagihara said “those lines he thought of whenever he was coming home, coming back to greene street after a long time away—“and tell me this: i must be absolutely sure. this place i’ve reached, is it truly ithaca?”—as all around him, the apartment filled with light” and when hanya yanagihara said “they all loved jude, and admired him, but he often felt that jude had let him see a little more of him—just a little—than he had shown the others, and was unsure what he was supposed to do with that knowledge” and when hanya yanagihara said “why wasn’t friendship as good as a relationship? why wasn’t it even better? it was two people who remained together, day after day, bound not by sex or physical attraction or money or children or property, but only by the shared agreement to keep going, the mutual dedication to a union that could never be codified” and when hanya yanagihara said “‘and who are you?’ ‘i’m willem ragnarasson and i will never let you go’” and when hanya yanagihara said “since then, willem has held him in the same way every night, even through july” and when hanya yanagihara said “finally, and most important, jude st francis, my best friend and love of my life, for everything” and whe
