“I have updated and changed lyrics on some of the—I think I changed a lyric or two on Don't You, but just kind of like two words that I thought, you know, it's a few words, it really wasn't a lot, just phrasing-wise. And then I think in That's When I changed the perspectives, because in That's When, we originally wrote it as if it was like—it wasn't a duet originally, it was originally about like a girl who, like, the person she loves comes to her and says, 'You know, I need some space away from the relationship,' and she's like, 'Fine, whenever you want to come back, you can.' And I kind of just over time, sort of wanted to change the story into its, you know, me singing about needing space from a relationship even though I love the person, and that person being gracious enough to be like, 'Take your time, whatever you need,' because I hadn't really explored that angle before, of needing your independence and somebody granting it to you and that making you want to come back to them, because you realize they're the type of person who is always going to let you explore and grow, and that means they're the person for you. So, yes, did change a little bit, but absolutely minimal things. You're mostly hearing from a 17-year-old, or 18-year old brain.”

I’ve decided I want you to have the whole story, see the entire vivid picture, and let you into the entire dreamscape that is my Fearless album. That’s why I’ve chosen to include 6 never before released songs on my version of this album. Written between the ages of 16 and 18, these were the ones it killed me to leave behind.

FROM THE VAULT: FEARLESS (TAYLOR’S VERSION)

“Mr. Perfectly Fine is a song I wrote alone, and it was definitely an early indicator of me sort of creeping toward a pop sensibility. You know, I’ve always listened to every type of music, even though Fearless is a country album, there were always these pop melodies creeping in. I really love this song, and I love the bridge. I think the lyrics are just wonderfully scathing, and full of the teen angst that you would hope to hear on an album that I wrote when I was 17 or 18 or on that cusp.”

— Taylor on Mr. Perfectly Fine for Amazon Music

I can’t believe we live in a twisted world where Taylor Swift releases a song she wrote about her Joe Jonas break up from 2008, for the first time, in 2021, only to be told it slaps by his current wife

jackantonoff: sunday night!

thank you to @sharp_stick who has been by my side for every piece of music i have written or produced. the sound coming out of our corner is the sound of laura and i having the time of our lives just messing around with ideas. my new friend @heyjonlow who is a brilliant engineer and mixer. @aarondessner - the best of the best! he’s inspired me long before we became friends. no bleachers without aaron’s work, thats just a fact. thank you to @bleachersmusic baddies @mikeyfreedomhart and @esmith109 for playing on folklore. to @bobbyhawkmusic on the violin making it sound scratchy and magical mystery tour-y. perfect. to @serbangheneamixes and @heyjonlow ‘s beautiful mixes.

and @taylorswift , from 1989 to here…. goddmann. you are the one who let me produce records first. before you i just “wasn’t a producer” according to the herbs. i just wasnt let in that room. then i met you, we made out of the woods and you said, “that’s the version” and that changed my life right there.

awards are about the people around you. they’re about the people that raised you, your friends and everyone behind the scenes who work so hard to give you the chance to make your best work. im talking my bleachers band and touring crew, my family at @electricladystudios in NY and conway in LA.

talking jeff lynne, jimmy jam, sophie, brian eno, sounwave and all the greats who make you want to find THAT sound. thats what these moments are about - how you got where you got.

ok. back in the studio writing today. no better place to be after sunday night. (x)
