James Murphy is so annoying in all the ways I find extremely attractive I think if we had been 23 at the same we’d be married and financing wildly unsuccessful restaurants.

Eternal mood is Britney Spears recording a track written by James Murphy that just fucking exists I guess.

But in good news, im pretty far into my associates in pastry and an associates in culinary and working in a restaurant I love that pays well, super clean, great environment I look forward to going into that works around my school schedule. I kept seeing my friends in art school dregs work retail gigs that suck your soul till you can afford to live off art someday or pray to god you get chosen over 40 other people for some crap gallery gig and I decided I wanted to do something I loved and was good at for money while working towards long term goals. I’m proud of myself and have been able to stage in some amazing kitchens. I’m still working towards a BFA and have a long way to move up garde, but I’m happy balancing both and figuring it out. More to do but at a start.

Im in a not insignificant entanglement w the department of labor and credit agencies because i collected checks from freelance work/ sales and worked 3 jobs in one year in different states + would do odd jobs while traveling for cash without properly reporting it because I didn’t know how to do taxes at all. Age 22: go to school stay off the internet. Age 23: btw you can’t legally live like a drifter.

boring adult posting about furniture but I found a pair of matching midcentiry dressers for 20 bucks if i could haul them off myself and I love them.

A word on Greg Cash. Greg Cash is a person I’ve had a singular fixation on for a year and desperately want to find and interview. He’s one of my favorite artists and I just want to share his work. Cash has worked producing, creating, and distributing Christian house music for over 20 years. His first record was Pittsburgh Groove in 1996 on the S.O.M. records label out of the tristatw area and his most recent work in 2009. He has released his work under the monikers DJ Greg Cash, Holy Life, the Garagepusher, and Pittsburgh Mass Authority. Cash ran a confirmed two record labels, Pittsburgh Soul Records out of Pittsburgh/ Baltimore and later Bumpin' City Records out of Chicago and Aurora, Illinois which both distributed house music. Sometime in the later 90’s he moved from Pennsylvania back to Illinois to start his own label and be closer to Chicago house. I heard Pittsburgh Mass Authority's "My GOD is able" ( https://youtu.be/1-NfEYTy74M ) maybe a year ago and was taken with the Barbara Tucker - I Get Lifted type of quality it had. Almost all of Cash's work is religious/ spiritual and often samples or features sermons, pastors, and the sounds of praise and gospel mixed with funky Chicago garage house. He's a very good producer- mixes strings well, beats are slick, tracks all go hard. All the printed labels his record companies put out are printed with messages like "in Jesus name" "praise to god" and the preacher reads "special thanks to all the gospel garage heads! Stay focused and keep the faith!." Ive been collecting the records for awhile and many have bible verses printed on them or thank yous to his friends and frequent collaborators. Word of God (Vocal Mix) ft B McCoy, 2001 : https://youtu.be/aILno6NSbs0 He's Coming Soon , 1997 : https://youtu.be/g3I0RJo1FE0 The Preacher , 2002: https://youtu.be/DdT7WzrtI8s Greg Cash and the remains of Bumpin City Records are a bit hard to track down, something I haven’t had much success with seeing as their once standing location isn’t there and the numbers no longer work. Im assuming they dispensed sometime around their final release of the Tonite EP in 2008. They were somewhat prolific for a completely independent label, having a catalog just short of 100 releases despite never getting much attention outside of Christian house enthusiasts. However gospelhousemusic.com has uploaded and archived singles from some of the great Bumpin City cuts, http://www.gospelhousemusic.com/bumpin-city.shtml In Greg’s words, Let’s give god some praise!!! Keep it real!!!
