“[Russell T Davies] made Rose an equal, not a sidekick. It is she who, on several occasions, saves the Doctor, rather than the other way round. As any parent with a daughter, I now look at Esme and think ‘you could be the Doctor’. In 2005, as recently as that, such a thought would have been a pipe dream.

[Rose is] a woman with an independent mind, willing to confront received wisdom. Rose arrives on screen fully formed, one of the strongest female characters of any show, any year, painting a solid line directly to Jodie Whittaker.

If you think about it, the relaunch in 2005 was actually the first chance to create the first female Doctor. Why not do it then? Perhaps we should be looking back on Billie Piper not as Rose, but as the Doctor.”

- Christopher Eccleston in his memoir I Love The Bones Of You

I'm convinced some people did not bother to read the botw diaries at all with what they think about Zelda and her relationship to Link so here:

Zelda's Diary:

Urbosa's Diary:

Later, after the champion inauguration (I am running out of image allowance here):

Daruk's Diary:

Mipha's diary, at risk of starting controversy:

Update: Oh man, y'all really didn't read them... Nintendo really needs to stop hiding information that is vital to understanding a character's mindset behind furniture in DLC. I recommend watching a youtube video of all of them being read, or on the wiki, because there is so many interesting bits of information.

I pretty much only put the parts here that are most relevant to Zelda's character and the development of her bond with Link, but there's much more!

For example, I didn't put Revali's here at all, which talks about his struggles to master his gale, and shows he originally wanted to be Link's friend, but just like Zelda, ended up projecting his own insecurities onto Link's silence. It also showed how he cared about Zelda as a friend (albeit worded in his tsundere birb way), appreciating the scarf she made for him and wishing the goddess would finally show her some mercy. It makes him at least slightly less of a jerk overall when you know that it was basically a defense mechanism or a front.

What I really love about Rose Tyler is the way she kind of... tries to be the Doctor to the Doctor. Like, he runs around, throwing himself into dangerous situations to protect people, and she sees him do it.

And then she sees him in danger and realizes that there's no "Doctor" around to save him. So dang it, she's going to.

He sacrifices himself at the end of S1, and she decides that no, she's not going to sit back and let him save her. She's going back for him because if the Doctor wouldn't abandon her, she's not going to abandon him.

When everyone thinks he's dead, she refuses to believe it and she literally had to be forcibly taken away from him. Because the Doctor wouldn't leave her -- wouldn't leave anyone -- so she's not going to leave him.

She came upon this traumatized man who tries to smile but is so, so, so sad, even as he makes jokes and runs around being mad and saving people, and she decided that he can save everyone else and she's going to save him. She's a girl from a shop, with a single mom, and she loves fish and chips, and she's going to give the Doctor her world, her heart, all the love she can share with him.

I think the thing that bothers me the most when people say things like, “How could the Doctor possibly fall in love with Rose? She was just a regular teenage girl and he was this ancient, amazing alien,” is that that, right there, was the ENTIRE point that RTD was trying to make through their relationship. You have this character, the Doctor, who’s been so many places and lived so long and is obviously brilliant, and you start thinking “yeah, he’s the best, he’s better than everyone else, he should only love/associate with people who are on the same level as him.” And then suddenly you have Rose — a lower-class shop girl with no A-levels — and the Doctor falls in love with her.

Rose breaks apart every elitist ideal, completely shatters the entire concept that some people are better than others because of their social status or profession or education or age, and her relationship with the Doctor shows that it isn’t these things that make people equals. Their story touches on what I’d say is one of the main ideas throughout all of Doctor Who ever, which is that every single human being (or alien) has the potential to do amazing things. That great deeds aren’t saved for the upper classes and the intellectuals. That people are equal because they are people, and if anything were able to make someone “better” than someone else, it wouldn’t be class or age or intellect. It would be the choices people make, how they create themselves. It would be kindness and courage, and sometimes cleverness — not book smarts, not education, just plain old ingenuity — all things which Rose has in multitudes and even rivals the Doctor in at times. You go girl.

The point that Rose and the Doctor’s story makes is that you don’t have to be a certain age or from a certain place or background etc. to be extraordinary and worthy of another, as well as that love has the amazing ability to look past all of those things and see people for who they really are on the inside. I mean, come on, it’s the oldest story in the universe:

  • the princess who falls in love with the pauper
  • the lady who falls in love with the farm boy
  •  the wealthy estate owner who falls in love with the woman of modest means

And you only have to look to real life to see that love looks past age too. So of course an ancient, time-traveling alien can fall in love with a young shop girl. Of course a woman with more compassion than the ocean could hold can fall in love with a man who’s killed billions. Because love looks at what matters. It’s really good at that. And if you think otherwise, you’re missing out on the entire message the Doctor has been trying to tell us for the last fifty plus years. And in that case, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.

“Rose is actually happy in a parallel universe with a half-human Doctor.” - Russell T. Davies

Hello, Whovians — we’re excited to announce the #BringBackTentoo movement!

In July 2008, millions of viewers tuned in to watch ‘Journey’s End’; where the Doctor and Rose were left hand-in-hand on Bad Wolf Bay.

While fandom has remained active, continuing to generate endless works inspired by this iconic pairing, there's sadly been little official content from the people who launched the ship!

Nonetheless, our devotion remains unwavering. We persist, loving the OTP; ceaselessly spreading love and fan-made content worldwide!

The purpose of this movement is to show there is still an audience that is very interested in revisiting these two. One that would love to see the Doctor and Rose together again, on-screen or off, living their best lives in Pete’s World.

Regardless of whether it’s a spin-off, comics, audio adventures, or — and this, we believe, is crucial — anything at all, we would just love to have them back in some way. We’ve realized that perhaps there hasn’t been enough collective buzz to bring this into reality, which is why we’re looking to rally up as much support as we can.

Already with us? Sign the petition! Our petition will be emailed directly to the powers that be; including Russell T Davies, Big Finish, the BBC, and more.

i hate that i will never not find this dialogue hilarious [ID: The scene of Andy giving codenames from Parks and Rec, with the characters from Star Wars The Mandalorian, instead. Fennec says "From this point on, we will be using codenames. I will be 'Eagle One.' Bo Katan is 'Been There Done That.'" Bo has her face in her hands, "Boba is 'Currently Doing That'" (Boba says Yeah! I am! as he and Fennec high five) "Cobb is 'It Happened in a Dream Once.' Koska is 'I'd Be Lying If I Said I Haven't Thought About It.' Mando is... 'Eagle Two.'" Din looks relieved through the helmet as he says "Oh thank the gods." /END ID]

[ID: Fennec is shooting two blasters in the background as she says “‘If I Had To Pick A Twink’ is in position!” Luke looks bewildered and stops in the middle of a lightsaber pose as he exclaims, “Excuse me!?” /END ID]

Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)

  • SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
  • ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
  • LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
  • Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

Things I see in a lot of dinluke fics that I go feral for love every time:

  • Din giving Luke a Keldabe kiss and Luke not getting the significance. Bonus points if Luke mentions that he likes it when Din presses his forehead to his and having no idea (until later) that he just told Din he likes kissing him
  • A dinluke spar that ends with Luke sitting on top of Din
  • Literally everyone knowing that Din and Luke are in love before they do
  • Every mandalorian who meets Luke going “damn he’s the full package. he can fight, he’s good looking, AND he’s good with kids”
  • Luke being an Absolute Unit in combat
  • Luke having lightning scars from Palpatine
  • Din disliking Han (if Boba is in the fic, him also hating Han, but loving Luke and Leia)
  • Din’s realization that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and Senator Leia Organa are siblings
  • Grogu seeing his buir and master as his dads before they’re actually together
  • Din being soft when he sees Luke and Grogu together
  • CLAN OF THREE

wanting luke to follow the strict rules and ideas of the old jedi order despite the fact that he is literally the only one left has got to be my least favorite thing. like damn i could’ve sworn in the first trilogy his whole arc was about becoming a jedi but his own kind of jedi, disobeying his masters by abandoning his training and redeeming vader but being right to. his attachment and love for his father and his friends being the thing that saves the day in the end because the old jedi are gone and it’s not possible to go back only to move forward. and the galaxy needed a different kind of jedi. but hey what do i know i only love this character with every fiber of my being

rose meets the doctor for the first time on new years 2005, its the last time he ever sees her. he meets her for the first time later that year, she's never met him either. nine regenerates into ten on christmas 2005, lives his whole life then goes back to see her on new years. nine takes rose to see a sun burn up and her planet die, ten takes rose to new earth and then burns up a sun to say goodbye. rose scatters a message across the universe to lead herself to him. they are timeless they are cyclical they are the beginning and the end of themselves. dont touch me

Queer people are expected to leap out of the closet fully realized.

But closets are full of clothes.

It’s okay to try on outfits, mix and match, revisit old outfits and add new ones. Whatever feels right to you at the time is who you are at the time.

So it’s okay if the outfit you chose first is the one, and it’s also okay if you try out many or change it as time goes by.

There’s no wrong way to be queer and there’s no rule saying you can’t explore your queerness.

Don’t listen to anybody who tries to dictate otherwise to you.

Explore, discover, and embrace YOU.

Apparently some people couldn't access the Neurodivergent Insights website on a recent post, so here's the graphs for those interested.

these are great charts but I wanted to correct some of the info on the schizophrenia vs autism chart. it lists repetitive behavior and echolalia as traits that don't appear in schizophrenia but this isn't true, both of those are schizophrenia symptoms. specifically, they're catatonic schizophrenia symptoms (but they can appear in other subtypes too)

(also op I know you didn't make them and are just sharing them but I felt like it's important to put this information out there)

"joel took away ellie's choice"- damn it's almost like he knew they were both gonna just end up killed.. it's almost like he had no choice either and the fireflies were always gonna kill her with or without her knowledge. it's almost like ellie is a child who does not deserve the weight of the world on her shoulders like this. it's almost like her survivors guilt and unresolved trauma is what drives her to feel as if her entire life needs to end to compensate for those she's lost; it's almost like joel indulging ellie's martyrdom is a far worse thing than saving her on the chance she doesn't want to die. it's almost like she genuinely was never in the right conditions to consent to begin with and was never going to have the chance to regardless. idk
