Dabbling in some fursuit work. It’s fun making my own characters rather than work off of pre-existing ones.

Yup, real screws. They are attached by actually screwing them into the craft foam. They stay pretty well.

Unlikely but maybe to both questions. I've got school to think about and a trip to NYCC might not be the best idea.

This is the original tutorial for the hair. Some additional comments since I recently remade the hair: trying to make craft foam mimic hair is difficult. Keep an eye on the flow of the pieces to make it look as natural as possible. Glue as little as you can get away with. It makes it easier to fix mistakes. You'll probably have to pull up at least a few "hair" pieces. Pricing: $4-6 craft foam, $6 spray paint, cheaper than a wig and lasts longer, but time consuming to make. It took me about 4-5 hours straight. Best of luck! (one of these days I'll make a picture tutorial…)

The katana is actually a boken, wooden sword, that I spray painted. I'll probably make one from scratch at some point, but I'm not the best person to ask.
Where did you get your craft foam? I've never used it before and I'm quite curious. The way you used it on your Brobot cosplay looks amazing, and I'm curious about using it for the wings on my Davesprite cosplay.
I get craft foam from whatever craft store is closest to me at the time. Micheals, AC Moore, and other craft stores usually have craft foam. It's a pretty popular material for kid's crafts. I've actually been making craft foam wings and it's worked pretty well for me so far, so it's definitely an option for you.

Yes! I'll be there! If you're looking for photos though, I might disappoint. I've lost some of the joy that used to come to me when I photographed cosplayers, so I won't be taking as many pictures this year. It's just not as fun anymore.

I made it up as I went, but I made sure the basic frame still fit Brobot.
hey I'm sorry for bugging you but on the brobot cosplay (awesome cosplay btw) what did you use for the hair and stuff because I need to make wings for my cosplay and i dont know what to use (sorry again if im annoying you!)
I used craft foam for the entire cosplay (and thank you). I use craft foam in practically all of my costumes because I can't sew for shit, and I've actually used it to make feathers for wings. It actually works pretty well I think.

I'd prefer that people don't copy my brobot cosplay and cosplay him themselves, but if anyone wants to make something similar or use the general idea of the costume they can go for it :)
