He definitely has shown care and empathy towards humanity before, even though he recognises their faults. So he definitely doesn't agree with the sentiment that humans deserve death like Viridi believes.

I think he doesn't see the relationship as 'slaughter for flight' since that flight won't be true freedom anyways. It's more like he needs something to do. Cause otherwise he'll just be standing around. And one of his favourite things is fighting, not necessarily killing but definitely fighting.

Since there will probably never be a sequel, we won't know this goal if there is any. Dark Pit is probably trying to find out if there is another way to fly on his own, but in the meantime, he'll work for Viridi (though it's interesting he does it with Viridi instead of Palutena). Viridi goal is mainly to destroy humanity to restore 'peace.' if she is working towards something bigger we'll probably never know!

Dark Pit was said to be Viridi 'officer'. This is interesting cause others in her force have the title 'commander' which means leading battles. I think that Dark Pit is more of a defence than attack. Viridi already has plenty attackers, has a whole army, but when defending against others Gods, well they basically got defeated by Pit alone. So having someone like Dark Pit to defend her is smarter than using his ability to attack humans that are already easy to attack. Like it's no fun to fight someone that can barely fight back but easier to fight someone who attention was to fight you anyways.

Dark Pit can exist without Pit, that idea with the ring is only in the English version that the translators created, and considering in Chapter 22 Pit is on death row/dead it doesn't make sense for Dark Pit to be as well-conditioned as he is. So plot holes there. But he definitely wouldn't want to kill Pit, as they have become close over time. More the thrill of battle it seems.

That's an interesting concept! While he doesn't talk about the balance all that much he is definitely aware of it. Could also be an excuse. Dark Pit is chill for a lot of it for normal conversion unless he feels attacked, and since they are almost always fighting he is usually agro, I think his responses are a lot like Pit's but more direct. Not necessarily blunt but doesn't seem the type for small talk.

Oh, I really like the defense concept. That would actually make it make a lot more sense.

Also about dark pit not serving palutena he shows some obvious disdain towards her so to me it makes sense why he wouldn’t want to serve her. I also don’t think he wants to work together with pit even though they have some mutual respect

I can’t remember where but I know it’s stated somewhere that pit is specifically the captain of palutenas personal guard, so it would be an interesting concept if dark pit mirrored this with Viridi. That would also solve the whole human slaughter thing like you said. While I can’t see dark pit actively participating in unwarranted murder i don’t think he’d do anything to stop Viridi. He seems to be simply indifferent to it. So this way he doesn’t have to participate in it.

Another thing, now that I think about it it actually makes perfect sense to me why dark pit would choose Viridi over palutena. In the game think about how they each approach their soldiers. Palutena we don’t see much interaction between her and the centurions, but based on some offhand comments palutena seems to see them is disposable, insignificant. Exactly the way a god would see their subjects. Her lack of commentary on them itself shows how she doesn’t give much thought to her own subjects. But in viridi’s case she specifically likes to call her soldiers “children” and seems to have a warmer, more personal approach to them. She’s also constantly boasting about her forces of nature, kind of like a proud mother. And being the goddess of nature we can probably assume she values her soldiers more then a god normally would, as they are also a part of nature. We know dark pit hates being considered a servant, and under palutena he would be just that, a slightly more important then normal soldier. But Viridi seems to value her subjects more. Their still subjects, but she isn’t quite so dismissive of them. And based on her interactions with cragalanche, phosphora, and arlan, she seems to have a more personal relationship with the figureheads in her forces. Things like her commenting on how cragalanche was supposed to get his weak spot fixed and her cheering on phosphora during her battle with thanatos seem to suggest this. So under Viridi, dark pit would be treated with a certain amount of respect and not just as an object to be used. In this way he still feels some amount of individuality.

I feel like I’m painting Viridi in a warmer light here then she’s really supposed to be? She certainly can and does sacrifice her soldiers, but her approach to the forces of nature to me just seems to be more personal then palutenas approach to her own army. And I think dark pit would tolerate that more.

Pit is Captain of the Royal Guard. But Dark Pit is only an officer, with his behaviour, no way was Viridi going to make him Captain. (Think like a crewship, Captain is at the wheel, commanders assist Captains and Officer work below that).He would be too reckless. Would be fun if they mirrored but that's too risky. But yes he probably wouldn't go out his way to stop it (unless maybe it became to drastic) but he wouldn't encourage it.

To say Palutena see them as 'disposable' is a bit misleading. We know that Palutena revives everything single solider, which means they have probably been in her army for centuries. I would say she believes that after so long they probably got this handled. Maybe she a little insensitive but with how much she cares about Pit, if Dark Pit got on board I'm sure she would have some fun with him too (they seem to have an interesting relationship if SSB is anything to go by).

While Viridi's children probably die every day and she has to make new ones. And I doubt Dark Pit would want to be one of her children. And considering she doesn't call Phosphorus or Arlon child probably means she wouldn't treat Dark Pit with the familial relationship.

The only case we get for Dark Pit working for some one was with Arlon and during Scorched feathers. In Scorched Feathers, Dark Pit clearly just wants to get the job over with and isn't fond of all this conversation. I mean, Pit's life is on the line. And with Arlon, he only seemed comfortable working with him be sure Arlon basically gave him a lot of rope. All he had to do was project this core and fight Pit? Easy.

Viridi and Palutena would both give Dark Pit respect in their own way. And I think both have a unique way with their troops (I do enjoy Viridi Mother Nature role). But I really think Dark Pit wouldn't care all that much? I think he would just want leeway. And I think he went to Viridi thinking he had more of a chance to gain flight back then with Palutena as Palutena clearly struggled when trying to get it back for Pit.

I kinda think dark pit is a little punk and joined Viridi instead of palutena out of pettiness XD

reblogs have always been in short supply for artists, sadly, but it's hitting the shitposts and even the cat pictures lately. Gotta keep getting the word out that reblogs are good and keep people posting new material that will be passed around for the next 12 years

They’re used to other social media sites, where the only equivalent of reblogging is straight-up content theft; so the idea that you can put someone else’s stuff on your page and have it not be a bad thing is a strange experience for them.

They’re likely also used to an algorithm recommending content based on what they hit “like” on, so they probably think that that’s how this works, too.

Quick PSA, if you get one of those "Work scanned, AI use detected" comments on AO3, just mark them as spam.

Some moron apparently built a bot to annoy or prank hundreds of authors.

There is no scanning process, your work doesn't actually resemble AI writing, it's all bullshit. Mark the comment as spam (on AO3, not the email notification you got about the comment!) and don't let it get to you.

The spam comments have evolved.

They are now also linking to a site they claim is able to scan works and tell you whether they were AI written or not, and that you should do that before reading a fic.

It should go without saying that you should not, under no circumstances, visit a site advertised in a spam comment.

In this case, I'd say there's even a chance that the "scanning" site is actually used to scrape fics and use them for future AI writing. What it definitely doesn't do is tell you whether something was AI written or not. That's a bullshit claim.

Don't use that site. Don't believe these spam comments, whether you get them on your own works or see them on someone else's.

It's all bullshit.
