Science Side of Tumblr please explain… sometimes taking a plane flight can delay or stop your period. It’s happened to me several times. Even if you do get your period while on the flight, it’s likely it will be very light.
If you take combo birth control pills, you can safetly skip your period by skipping the placebo pill week. Simply move from the end of your last active pill week to the first week of your next pill pack. You won’t have your period and will be fully protected.
If you don’t take birth control, prepare to have your period on the plane, just in case. It is definitely not a good idea to wash your menstrual cup in the tiny sink of the plane’s bathroom. That’s a public bathroom, and I just don’t think it’s sanitary because it’s so cramped and probably not properly cleaned. I recommend switching to tampons or pads for the flight.
Many flights nowadays come with power outlets located underneath each seat. If your’s does (check your reservation for details) you can safetly bring a heating pad onto the plane. If your flight doesn’t offer that option, buy a small hot water bottle to refill on the plane. Definitely a hassle, but worth it. I also recommend taking asprin. I know some people are super against asprin, but in this circumstance, taking one or two pills will not be detremental to you in any way shape or form. Asprin literally saved my life when I used to get periods, stop poo-pooing it.
The last time I was on a plane, I caught the noro virus and was literally shitting my guts out at 3000 feet. It was terrible. I tried to sleep through the flight as much as possible. The flight was also not full, so my fiance was able to get us an extra seat so I could lay down. If you’re in pain, I highly recommend you try to sleep. If the flight is booked, window seats are the best sleeping option. Next best option is using the seat tray and putting a pillow on that. Bring eye covers, cozy blankets, pillows, etc on your carry on and make yourself as cozy as possible. Wear loose clothing and shoes. If it’s a domestic flight, you can bring unopened food and snacks on the fight. If it’s international, buy snacks at the airport to bring on the flight because airplane food is notoriously crappy. Chocolate DOES help period cramps. Make sure you’re not sitting in an Exit Row because those seats do not recline at all! They’re smaller than the other seats and sometimes don’t even have televisions.
Good luck love! ❤️❤️
