I've seen your pictures around for a long time. I just didn't know who you were until today. How did you make this? It's the best one I've ever seen.
Oh man! Thanks! Uhhh it took me like 4 months working everyday after work since opening day of Avengers to the con I wore it at. I really didn’t know what I was doing so I had to learn a lot of stuff. Basically I made a muscle suit for myself first. Then I pretty much just studied the screencaps and promo pics like mad, then patterned everything to be as accurate as possible to fit on my proportions.
The pants and tunic are leather, and I found that weird corduroy or pintucked leather his has on his pants and the sides of his tunic on ebay. The cape was 5 panels. 2 for lining, which got glued to the mantle I made out of wonderflex. And 2 for each side that flowed overtop the mantle, and one ‘swag’ curtain panel in the middle. Just search ‘swag curtain pattern’ and that’s what I used. The whole cape is attached to a harness which clips in to a belt that gets hidden.
The armor and boots and arm guards were wonderflex with leather and foam details on top. Basically all the armor was done using a heat n bond leather to foam method because I hate sanding and painting. I pretty much just sectioned off all the different shapes of the breastplate and made them all separate, kinda like a puzzle, then layered and put them together instead of carving it.
So I just tooled and etched the leather then dry brushed over it to get the look. I remade the breastplate 3 times before I was happy with it though sooooo =_=
I couldn’t explain it all in one message. so here are some pics… they kinda suck in quality cuz I had a classic blackberry phone at the time lol
basically this whole costume was held together by patient accurate patterning, heat n bond, and snaps. oh! and I didn’t make Mjolnir, I had that commissioned.
Because this was formatted as a reply and might thus have not been as visible here it goes again, cleaned up version.
I am selling a Loki custome made by the same cosplay artist who made Fahrlight’s custome. P&P and dry-cleaning is included in the price.
Price is up for negotiation and best offer wins~
I am trying to desperately help my girlfriend to come here for Christmas (Long Distance Relationship ;___; ) and I haven’t worn the custome enough to have a reason to keep such a valuable item locked away forever when I could sell it and use the money to spend Christmas with my one and only love!
I would ask $400 for this in US-Dollars. Euro-Price is €293. I originally paid $460 for this, plus shipping to Germany, which was a hefty sum too.
The $400 already include shipping to wherever buyer lives and I would take it to the dry-cleaner before sending it off. So in the end the price is less than that ;]
I’m 1,80m tall (afaik that’s 5’10) and of average build (woman’s clothing size ~M to L). I think it’ll still fit you if you’re a bit smaller but of course it wouldn’t be the best choice for a tiny person.
I have to remark how well the custome hides your boobs. It doesn’t compress them but makes them blend in nicely. If you wear a binder or even just a sports bra underneath it will be even more perfect.
The custome consists of the things Cosplaymandy made - high-waisted pants, shirt and the sleeveless cloak. I am also throwing in the boot-covers me and my friend made. They are nothing special and could use adjustment with sticky tape or thread because the outer part bends in the middle when worn, but they are useable and were sewn with good store-bought fake leather on a sewing machine.
There is one tiny tear in the silver fabric but it’s really tiny and I am going to fix it carefully before sending the custome off~ The silver stuff is nicely padded but the fabric itself is thin so it happened despite me being careful. But I’m mending it properly.
(this is the costume.. it’s the picture cosplaymandy sent and I just painted over her picture for privacy, so sorry for the dodgy paint-job)
and these are the bootscovers I’m throwing in for free~
So yep that’s it really! USD 400 or €293 for an only worn twice Loki custome with boot-covers and shipping included and beforehand dry-cleaning!
Again not to brag, but made by the same person who made Fahr’s first custome! :)
Message me / send me and ask if you’re interested. <3
Payment methods can be discussed with whoever’s interested. I’m fairly flexible as I have paypal and of course a bank transfer is also a good option in Europe and in Germany especially.
Dear Person at Ohayocon who shouted "I hate Thor. Oh good, she didn't hear me." at me while I was cosplaying Thor on Saturday,
You are the worst kind of con-goer. I don’t expect you to like every character. I don’t. I don’t even know who all the characters people are cosplaying are. It doesn’t matter though because I know that they love that character and I appreciate that. It takes a lot of…guts, I guess, to cosplay. You put your talent and your love of a character on the line. You risk people asking you questions about that character that you might not know answers to. You risk showing off bad craftsmanship. You risk looking terrible, fat, derpy, etc in lots of pictures. You risk weird questions, gross hugs or ‘glomping,’ people following you into bathroom stalls, creepy photographers with questionable at best motives, smelling bad, being grabbed by pervs and soooo many other things.
But then there’s you. What did you hope to achieve by shouting that at me? By the way, I did hear you and chose not to punch you in the face. You could tell I put a lot of time, money, and energy into my cosplay. It wasn’t something I just did on a whim. I care about my character. I mean, I’m not going to have someone write “Loved and Coplayed Thor” on my gravestone or anything, but I have a serious connection to those I cosplay. By telling me that you hate my character, you, in turn, have made a serious statement about who I am. That what I spent time on is worthless. It honestly didn’t matter how many compliments or photos were taken that day because your comment stuck in my head. I feel like I let my group down by my presence.
I hope that you read this and I hope you realize that I’m not Thor, but an actual, real live person. I have feelings. Thor wouldn’t care what you said because he doesn’t exist. I care though. I actually feel hesitant to put my costume on again.
Here’s the lesson: Cosplayers are people. They actually do something brave by creating and wearing costumes. Keep your negative comments to yourself. If their craftsmanship is poor, critique the work in your head if you have to, but don’t say it out loud. If you hate their costume, shut it. If you dislike their character, put that comment in a box and lock it away. As your mom, teachers, every cartoon you watched as a kid told you, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
