Y'all know why I could never work in the food industry???
I was at McDonalds yesterday after an anime convention, super exhausted, gearing up for a 4+ hour car ride home, and beyond content with my hot nugs, and cold soda and to be sitting down in air conditioning.
And I’m seated near the counter, watching the lunch rush of mostly cosplayers file through the line quietly and politely, until it gets to this one woman…She orders her food, and the cashier hands her her change, and the woman immediately goes, “You gave me the wrong change.” She shoves her receipt in the cashier’s face and goes, “You gave me 75 cents when it’s supposed to be 95 cents!” The cashier looks between her and the ten people behind her, and then looks at the receipt. I hear the girl quietly say she was sure she handed the woman the right amount of change, but the woman huffs and shoves her receipt at the cashier again, then loudly counts the change in her hand.
The poor cashier had to get the manager to open the register to get the 20 cents for the woman, who proceeds to go, “I know it’s silly to argue over 20 cents…But I keep all of my change.”
Everyone behind the woman in line looked angry, and the cashier looked to be near tears, all over 20 cents during an insane lunch rush.
I felt so badly for the cashier, and that exchange really reminded me I wouldn’t be able to handle that job. The customer literally said she knew she was being an asshole for 20 cents, but did it anyways!!! I couldn’t do it.
