So TMI here, but that’s cause this is Tumblr and not facebook.
I ran the Insane Terrain today. For those that don’t know what that entails, let me just say these words: Mud, Obstacle, Muddy water, Obstacle, Muddy Water, Hay Bales, Mud, More Muddy Water, Hay Bales, Tractor Tires, Muddy water, Soap Suds, Dust.
Needless to say, I wore clothes that I was fully expecting to bin.
I had a pair of undies that I stained two or three periods ago, when I started out of the blue. My least favourite/easily replaced running bottoms, a vest top that’s now too small and a naff ¾ sleeve sport top that I wasn’t particularly fond of. And my old trainers that I keep only for school trips.
I bunged all these things in the wash (trainers to follow once I’ve soaked and emptied them of all the grit and grime).
My knickers WERE white with black stripes with a brown splodgy stain in the crotch. After the run, they were so brown that the period stain was no longer visible and the stripes were just about there. I whacked them into the wash anyway, because if they’re clean, who cares during period week?
Took them out when done and they were cleaner than they were when I put them on. The white parts are WHITE. The stripes are really visible and the crotch is all clear.
I don’t know if it’s because of the new Persil I’ve bought, or because I used proportionately more for this wash. I SUSPECT that the repeated ice-cold soak in muddy pond and ditch water, being rubbed and tossed about when I leaped over hay bales and my wet clothes rubbing together as I ran and all the grit that was in my clothing creating a nice washboard effect actually loosened and got rid of the stain.
So yeah. Keep that pair of underwear you stained horribly, wear them to an Insane Terrain run, feel awesome afterwards and then relish the amazing wash results afterwards.
