We’re starting out our World Food tour with Canada! It was hard to pick what food to try since Canada has so many diverse cultures throughout it. I decided choose a dish from a people who’ve had ties to this land before anyone else ever arrived Big thanks to my friend @alexis.moerman and her mom for telling me about some wonderful Aboriginal desserts! I was especially excited about the berry soup, I had never heard of it before so it was fun to learn about! Berry soup is a very traditional dish and is often used in many ceremonies. This berry soup is made with Saskatoon berries, although depending on the tribe and area it seems different berries may be used. Bannock also sometimes called fried bread is 10/10 delicious! A popular way to enjoy it is with saskatoon berry jam or other types of jams. They can also be made savoury!
With everyone stuck at home and lots of people baking I’d definitely suggest trying to find a good recipe for bannock and trying it out yourself! It’s a very simplistic recipe but can be enjoyed in so many great ways! 💕💕 let me know in the comments where we should be traveling next and what food/desserts we should try!!
