Hello guys! I know I’m not consistently active on any of my profiles but I want you all to know that I love and respect you all and your opinions are fantastic!
That being said, all I ask for right now are possible nerdy radio show names. All will be revealed in time, but just let me know what comes to mind and there will def be a shoutout to you if I pick yours!
I was recently a guest on Mutiny Radio’s (formerly Pirate Cat Radio Collective) The Morning Show with Ashely. Day of the Rapture, May 20th, 2011. We discussed the implications of mass hysteria, aspects of shamanism, energy distribution, and how to go about living a conscious life. I was very pleased to be a part of the independent radio spirit. We had a great discussion and shared a good amount of information… . . she also played some sweet tunes.
There were some technical difficulties before I started my show, but Nylon of Fade Out Theater was there to figure things out, supported by musical magician Justin Forrest Divver. I’ll have the MP3 of the podcast to upload later, but for now, my set list for the night:
EAST COAST HOUR:
1. Cibo Matto - Beef Jerky
2. Asobi Seksu - Perfectly Crystal
3. Sun Airway - Black Noise

7. The Juan MacLean - No Time
8. Night Panther - Two Weeks (Grizzly Bear Cover)
9. Memory Tapes - Wait In The Dark

I will never be a lead singer in a rock band … but sometimes hosting the SF Intercom show on Mutiny Radio feels pretty rock star. It’s hard to explain how much fun it is to sit in the studio while musicians blast me out of my chair with their amazing skills. This Sunday the show was blessed to have Electric Strawberry then Frankie Boots And The County Line live in the studio.
Attached is my Spinitron list of bands played during my show. Spinitron also charts top artists played on internet radio, charts are located here: http://spinitron.com/charts
Be sure to tune in to MutinyRadio.Org and listen to our San Francisco affiliate Mr.Atron spin some tracks on the 1’s and 2’s. If your looking for a wide range in music and want something new to add to your playlist. Atron is your man. Show Starts at 12 (noon)!! So head over and tell ‘em we sent you!
Long time Los Angeles residences, especially those in the Hollywood area, may remember a pirate radio station operating on 87.9fm from 2000 to 2003 called Pirate Cat Radio. I went down to Pamtastic’s Sausage Fest yesterday. That was fun, and besides the name, there were plenty of women there. I saw at least five, and that’s not including myself.
Then somebody asked me if I was going to the next open mike. And I did. And I was one of three women there, only two of which got on stage.
And then somebody asked if I was going to the NEXT one. And I did. And I was the only lady in the whole bar. And so people used me a lot in their jokes. And I felt like I had won some sort of bizarre gauntlet who’s prize was to hang out with a bunch of horny, lonely dudes who make a profession out of telling people how bad they are in bed and (in some cases) how much they hate women. Uhhh….. Yay?
This guy Greag that I had met that night was the guy giving me lifts. When I got into the van the first time, and saw it was me and six dudes, I was sort of nervous. Not that I expected any untoward behavior from them, but if this turned into an episode of “bang bus” against my will, I was not looking forward to explaining that to the cops.
“Why did you get into a car with six dudes you just met?” “What did you think was going to happen?”“Did you lead them on?” -The cops (as I imagine them)
Everyone was really nice, though, so that was cool. Scratch that, I’m pretty sure all of those dudes except Greag talked about women as chattel in the van and offered to eat me out on stage (it was funny, but kinda weird talking to you later, dude!), so I wouldn’t call that “nice.” No one assaulted me, how about that? And I don’t think any of those dudes would. They’re all just a product of a sexist as fuck society, and they’re actually on the lesser side of horrible about women, so I think I’ll be good friends with most of them.
I know I'mma be friends with Greag, though. He gave me a ride home, even though it was out of his way, and didn’t quiz me when I said I liked science fiction, comic books, manga, anime, astrophysics, nothing. I didn’t have to prove that shit just because I’m a woman, and I appreciate that. It helps that he’s funny, too. I think he’s gonna be my comedy buddy and sounding board. I hope he’ll be, anyway.
