Whaaaaaat? Schools so important! *I say while avoiding my own homework*. Cute prompt btw.
Lily had called Sirius eight times before he woke up to the sound of his phone ringing shrilly. He had just done a 40 hour shift at the hospital and had planned on spending the next two days in bed.
His best friends wife, however, was not making that possible.
“Is someone dead?” Sirius growled into the receiver as he answered. He felt groggy, his eyelids heavy and throat slightly sore from sleeping with his mouth open.
“I need a favor,” Lily blurted out in lieu of hello, “I have to work late and James is out of town on business. Are you able to pick up Harry from school today?”
On top of exhaustion, it looked like he’d have to take care of a 4 year old. Sirius loved his Godson dearly, but at that moment he only had his heart set on sleep.
“You owe me,” Sirius yawned while forcing himself to sit up, “What time is his preschool over?”
“Three,” Lily sighed a thank you with promises of a grand favor. “I won’t get out of work until seven. I’ll text you the address. Oh, and Sirius?”
“Don’t hit on his teacher.” She gave a quick goodbye and hung up.
Sirius was not good at following instructions or following rules. He put his phone on his bedside table and stood up, doing a full body stretch before meandering into his bathroom for a shower and a shave. It was nearly one in the afternoon, and Lily informed him that he’d have to sign Harry out through the office since he had never picked him up before. He’d have to provide ID.
And because Lily had specifically told him to not hit on the teacher, Sirius made sure he looked extra sexy. His white v-neck exposed his collarbone, his jeans were ripped and just a little snug, he threw on his leather jacket and put his feet in boots, while his shaggy hair was thrown into a sloppy bun.
He looked like a fucking model.
He threw his helmet on and made sure that Harry’s own riding jacket and helmet were attached safely onto the bike before making his way to Molly’s Preschool.
School was already letting out when Sirius parked his bike in the lot. He took off his helmet and secured it to his bike before getting off.
He walked past gaggles of children, parents, and teachers. Silently preening under the gazes of the mothers he walked by. He gave them charming smiles as he headed towards the front office.
Molly was waiting at the front desk, sitting at the computer. Sirius had last seen her at Harry’s birthday party, when she brought her brood of seven. He couldn’t imagine having seven children and running a preschool. To be so immersed in sprogs. Then again, he doubted she could imagine being an OR nurse.
“Ah, Sirius, Lily said to expect you,” Molly gave him a polite smile. She never liked him. At least, not since she caught him and Gideon shagging once when they were teenagers.
Gideon had since married and had had children, honestly. It wasn’t as if Sirius broke his heart or anything. They still kept in touch.
“He’s in the dining area with his teacher,” Molly told him, pointing down the hallway, “code to the door is 1991. Oh, and Sirius? Don’t hit on my teacher.”
“Why does everyone keep telling me that?” Sirius rolled his eyes, “I have self-control!”
Granted, it was very limited.
He could hear Harry before he saw him. High voice giggling at a joke he was telling poorly.
“Why did the chicken cross the road? Because he had to!” Harry let out a new peel of laughter. Sirius couldn’t help but snigger, James had been trying to teach him that one for weeks and it still wasn’t sticking.
Sirius didn’t get a chance to look at the teacher everyone was so worried about him pulling. Because as soon as he opened the door, Harry noticed him.
“PADS!” Harry screamed while running over to him.
Sirius fell to his knees and opened his arms up for his Godson to jump on him. “Sprog!”
As soon as Harry was in his arms, Sirius was on his feet, spinning with the boy in a circle, causing him to giggle more. Once they were done, Sirius shifted Harry so that he was on his hip. The boy was getting too big to carry, but Sirius was determined to do it until he couldn’t any longer.
“You’re picking me up?” Harry asked excitedly, green eyes large and bright.
“Of course,” Sirius stated, “You’re with me until bath time tonight. We’ll get pizza for dinner and ice cream for dessert.”
“Yay!” Harry threw his hands up, “Mr. Lupin, I’m getting pizza!”
It was then that Sirius remembered that Harry’s teacher was in the room. The young man was not what he expected.
Large hazel eyes behind glasses, curly tawny hair, dimples. Oh fuck.
“Ah, sorry,” Sirius shifted so that his right hand was free, offering it to shake, “I’m Sirius, Haz’s Godfather.”
“Remus,” Remus’ eyes regarded him warmly, “his teacher. He talks about you a lot.”
“All good things I hope,” Sirius grinned while poking at Harry’s tummy.
“He idolizes you,” Remus smiled, his eyes wandered up and down Sirius and Sirius was glad that he decided to shower and shave earlier.
He felt his face heat in a blush at the attention.
“That’s good to know,” Sirius said weakly. He worried his lower lip, “We’d best be off.”
“Of course,” Remus nodded. “Perhaps I’ll see again you next time you pick him up.”
“Bye Mr. Lupin!”
“Bye Harry, bye Sirius.”
And people were worried about Sirius being the one to pull? Remus Lupin would easily eat Sirius whole. And he’d be completely down for it.
