Post Master Cleanse

So on day 11, when you've finished the 10 days of The Master Cleanse: You can drink freshly squeezed, organic orange juice. And lemonade. That's it. On day 12: You drink orange juice, lemonade and at night you can have homemade vegetable soup - but only the broth and a only a few vegetables. You can use any vegetables you want, just make sure you put in some green beans (cause you need the protein). And then water. And don't boil it for too long, you'll lose a lot of the nutrients in the vegetables. On day 13: You drink orange juice, lemonade, vegetable soup for lunch, and vegetable soup with a little bit of brown rice as well (YAY!!!!). On day 14: You can start to eat small portions of normal food. But still drink some lemonade, so that your body slowly gets used to the changes.

Post-Master Cleanse

My body fat dropped from 19.9% to 18.2% and I've lost 7.2 pounds! I stopped the cleanse 3 days ago, I'm and still losing weight. I've been loving eating nothing but fruits and vegetable and I've been able to run farther than ever. If you're considering doing the master cleanse, I recommend it.

I'm sorry but may you explain what the master cleanse is and how often should I do it? Thanks beautiful xx.

It’s a cleanse, so it clears your body of toxins and build-up that slows down your bodily and organ function. These toxins build up over time due to poor nutrition, not exercising, being sick, stress, anything. You can do the Master Cleanse anywhere from three days to thirty days and what you do is you drink as much of a mixture of grade B maple syrup, water, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper as you want. The proper amount of each ingredient can be found on the cleanse’s website here: are also allowed to drink water, water with lemon, and detox tea while you’re cleansing.

The most important thing to remember is that the cleanse is about renewing your body rather than weight loss. At the end of your cleanse, your cells are rejuvenated and you feel absolutely amazing! The thing is though, is you HAVE to ease into the cleanse. Take a few weeks to do it - cut out processed foods and dairy the first week, just to salads the second week, just do broths the third week, and THEN you’re ready to cleanse. If you don’t do that, you can get horrible digestive infections since your metabolism slows down during the cleanse since you’re doing all liquids, so solid food could get trapped in your intestines. After the cleanse, you need to ease back out of it too. If you don’t, you’ll put on a lot of weight back on, maybe even as much as you lost, because you’re eating a lot with a slowed metabolism.

It’s not a necessary thing to do for weight loss and health, nor is it enjoyable the first couple days, and you don’t have to do it at all. I would just do it once, for however long you want within the range of three to 30 days (start off only doing a few days though if you've never really cleansed before so your body doesn't go into shock) and only do that once every six months or year. You don’t want to over-cleanse your body. There are also other kinds of cleanses you can do, like juice cleanses, so look up some options and see what’s right for you! No matter what though, you need to remember to ease in then ease back out x

‘‘Cate Blanchett’s 13 performances in “Manifesto,” an immersive video installation by the artist Julian Rosefeldt currently making its American premiere at Park Avenue Armory, is the closest a film performance may ever come to capturing the spirit of live theater.’’

‘‘If the art world gave out Oscars, Cate Blanchett should win for her tour de force of starring roles in “Manifesto,” at the Park Avenue Armory.’’

‘‘Tour-de-force: a term so overused that we need an undeniable acting performance to renew its meaning for cinema. Cate Blanchett has just given us one, going all-out in Manifesto. Already respected as one of the best actresses in film, Blanchett raises the bar even higher by playing 13 different roles in Manifesto, embodying some of the most influential and emotional artist manifestos in history.’’

‘‘In the art installation, Blanchett took on 13 different personas and delivered famous monologues by authors such as Karl Marx and Lars von Trier. In the movie, she manages to channel all of those personas in only 90 minutes and from the looks of it, she nails it.’’

10 Detox Foods to add to your Diet

Here is a list of detox foods that are a great addition to everybody’s diet.

1. Fruits

Fruits are high in liquid-content, helping the body wash out toxins. They are also very easy to digest and are high in antioxidants, nutrients, fiber and important vitamins.

2. Green Foods

Fill your refrigerator with blue green algae, barley, wheatgrass, kale, spinach, spirulina, alfalfa, chard, arugula or other organic leafy greens. These plants will help give a chlorophyll-boost to your digestive tract.

Chlorophyll rids the body of harmful environmental toxins from smog, heavy metals, herbicides, cleaning products and pesticides. They also aid the liver in detoxification.

3. Lemons, Oranges and Limes

Citrus fruit aids the body in flushing out toxins and jump starts the digestive tract with enzymatic processes. Lemon juice aids the liver in its cleansing processes. To increase detoxification, start each morning with a warm glass of lemon water.

Remember, vitamin C is one of the best detox vitamins around, as it transforms toxins into digestible material. Eat  vitamin c foods often to help get more of these benefits.

4. Garlic

This pungent little bulb is one of the best detoxing foods out there. It helps stimulate the liver into producing detoxification enzymes that help filter toxic residues from the digestive system. I recommend adding sliced or cooked garlic to a suitable dish, as this will help aid any detox diet.

5. Broccoli Sprouts

Extremely high in antioxidants, the ability for broccoli sprouts to stimulate the detoxification enzymes in the digestive tract is unparalleled. The sprouts are actually more effective than the fully-grown vegetable.

6. Green Tea

Packed full of antioxidants, green tea washes toxins from the system via its liquid content, but also contains a special type of antioxidant called catechins, which are known to increase liver function.

7. Mung Beans

The mighty mung bean has been used by Ayurvedic doctors for thousands of years. It is incredibly easy to digest, and absorbs toxic residue on the sides of the intestinal walls.

8. Raw Vegetables

Best for juicing or eaten raw: Onions, carrots, artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, garlic, beet, turmeric, and oregano. The combination of these foods will help your liver purge toxins during the cleansing process. These are high in naturally occurring sulphur and glutathione. Sulphur helps the liver detoxify harmful chemicals.

9. Seeds and Nuts

Incorporate more of the easily digestible seeds and nuts into your diet. Flax seed, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, hemp seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds, Siberian cedar nuts and sunflower seeds are all excellent options. While detoxing, avoid nut butters.

10. Omega-3 Oils

Use hemp, avocado, olive oils or flax seed oil while detoxing. This will help lubricate the intestinal walls, allowing the toxins to be absorbed by the oil, and eliminated by the body.

Detox Drinks

I think I'm going to try this detox drink out tomorrow. This post has been up for a while on from StarvingActress. I want to do some detoxifying for sure this week. So here's two different detox recipes for the ole file, including one you may not be familiar with and another that you've probably tried already.

Apple Pie Detox Drink

makes 1 liter

  • water
  • up to 2 tbsp raw, organic apple cider vinegar
  • up to 1 tsp cinnamon
  • sweetener of your choice (SweetLead, Stevia, maple syrup, honey, etc...)

  1. Mix ingredients and blend in a blender/ magic bullet till smooth.
  2. Pour into glass and enjoy!

Master Cleanse (Fast)

  • 2 tbsp organic lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp organic grade B maple syrup
  • 1/10 tsp ground cayenne pepper

10 oz filtered water

  1. Drink a minimum of 12 glasses a day whenever hungry.
  2. Take a laxative before bed. (or Salt Water Flush)
  3. (refer to for more info)

I have never done either of these, so I can't really recommend anything. However, I plan on trying both at some point and reporting my findings. Yup!

I've been on the Master Cleanse for 6 days now. 4 more to go. I feel good. I feel great. I feel awesome and empowered. And I also am very physically exhausted. While the cleanse juice sustains my hunger, there is nothing that is providing me energy. And that's pretty much the hardest part, other than that I love alcohol and haven't drank in 6 days. 4 more days to go until I reach my 10 day goal, which for me is pretty much the most awesome thing I will have ever done for myself. I'm pretty pumped that I have actually been able to go this long without any food, alcohol, juice, soda... anything other than decaffeinated herbal tea, distilled water, and my Cleanse Potion! I have still been smoking a lot of pot though... which one thinks would be counterintuitive as the most common side effect is incurable hunger, but it has been helping a bunch and I am so thankful for WEED!

The lemon detox

Ingredients: lemons, pure maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water

2 tbs of lemon or lime

2 tbs. of 100% pure maple syrup

1/10 tsp cayenne pepper

10 oz. water (hot or cold as preferred)

For those who cannot enjoy their lemonade, here is an alternative:

1. Mix equal parts of lemon juice and maple syrup as a concentrate in a dark container. Keep this mixture cool.

2. Make enough concentrate for as long as you are incapable of making the fresh lemonade juice.

3. Every time you want a glass of lemonade, measure 4 tbs. of this mixture in a glass.

4. Add water and cayenne pepper, stir and drink. The maple syrup preserves the lemon juice and prevents oxidation of the vitamin C and enzymes.

Drink as often as you like!

Pre-Cleanse: Ballerina Tea

Here we go again. So after being good for a month, I had five consecutive cheat days in a row and I think I effectively destroyed most of my gains. I'm going to try the Master Cleanse, and track my progress on Tumblr to encourage myself.

For now, I'm going to jump start the cleanse by getting rid of as much of the previous build up as drinking 3 Ballerina Tea. From online reviews, it looks like there will be a (literal) shit storm coming, so I'm bracing myself. Hopefully it won't be too bad, otherwise I foresee awkward moments at work tomorrow. And please please please let me be okay for my Saturday date....
