Alright my friends, if there’s one message Taylor is trying to send to us, it’s the message of love! She wants to be defined by the things she LOVES, not the things she hates or fears! I have a theory blue means moments in her life when she was driven by fear (can also mean depression, anxiety, etc.), but I’ll save that for later.
I’m probably going to make a ton of posts on this room in the future, but for now, I want to mention how she chose this one specifically to be the one that’s upside down. Why is she highlighting the Fearless room? How does one conquer fear? With Love. What’s golden, like daylight? Love. To love is to fear…less, hm?
Notice how the room is both yellow and orange, but it all depends on the light. The darker side on the left is orange and where all the games are located (games being pr stunts), and towards the right it’s lighter and looks more yellow! The door is open, as if she can step into the daylight and let go whenever, but her and her lover are upside down playing (planning) games (pr stunts).
See that light fixture in the middle? Pretty bright, huh? The placement seems kind of familiar…
Yes! The one near her heart as she’s going up towards the attic. Very bright and well lit - no room for orange! This is a safe place, and where she’s heading is where she can be free of what’s holding her back - the Reputation attic. A place where she can reflect and look at old memories - maybe even her dreams?
(🎶 In the middle of the night / in my dreams / that’s when I get to be with you / you’re so sweet 🎶 )
And now we transition into 🎶 baby, let the games begin 🎶
So, when Taylor wears orange or references it, she’s putting on a show for the sake of other people, or playing games that the system (Hollywood) has been perpetuating for decades.
Remember how I said blue means a life driven by fear (loneliness, depression, anxiety, etc.)? Well, in the beginning of the Lover video, the sunlit section of the room displays a yellow present, while the darker end displays a blue present. In the middle is the snow globe - a deeply metaphorical visualization of Taylor’s journey from getting out of the blue/dark and stepping into the daylight.
Notice the light to dark transition…kind of familiar, right? Look at the Fearless room photo again as well, then:
Darkness to light - another visualization of Taylor’s journey of stepping into the daylight, of course! Here we can clearly see which of her personas forced her into the darkness, and which were more joyful or being used to highlight a system making her feel blue.
I hope this makes some kind of sense? I think the main point I want to get across is that Taylor is speaking her truth the best way she knows how - Easter eggs, symbolism and metaphors. She wants her fanbase to pick up on the system that made it really hard for her to do so. Question everything about her media persona (reread her reputation foreword), she’s dropping so many hints and deeply wants the majority of her fanbase to get it! With positive energy, we can help support Taylor and other artists being held under corruption.
Don’t forget, the t-shirt dress says “Blind for Love.” How do greedy, corrupt individuals get what they want? By instilling fear…Scooter’s fave tactic. This LWYMMD shot is a perfect encapsulation of what Taylor is fighting against - greed. I know it’s cliche, but love always triumphs 💗
You’re on a walk with Loki and stop by a Starbucks. You go get yourself a coffee and Loki waits outside. Before you go in, Loki tells you to get him a coffee “dark and bitter, like his soul” (he had been spending a lot of time around Peter).
So when you return, you hand him a Unicorn Frappuccino.
