kevin and wymack take a road trip (inspired by these headcanonsalso yes kevin graduates with matt but just pretend he doesn’t

  • the remaining fox boys want to make the 11 hour drive from south carolina to new york to see matt play in one of his first pro games
  • it conveniently happens during a three day weekend, and it’s in the ncaa off season so kevin isn’t pitching a fit
  • in fact, everyone is very very excited and the days before they leave pass in a flurry of excitement
  • during their routine roof time, andrew offhandedly mentions he’s going to “arrange things” so that kevin and wymack end up in a car alone
  • neil, who started watching avatar the last airbender because the other foxes DEMANDED it: “life-changing field trip?”
  • the next morning everyone is up bright and early, and kevin is still basically asleep which makes guiding him to the passenger seat of wymack’s car very easy
  • kevin realizes what’s happening when nicky, aaron, and neil all quickly launch themselves into the maserati and andrew calmly locks the doors
  • kevin, alarmed: “wait why-”
  • nicky, blowing kisses: “see you in new york!! have a safe drive!!! remember what i told you about braking distance!!!!!”
  • *the maserati zooms away*
  • kevin is definitely awake now, and wymack is still standing by his door
  • “because we’ll die if you drive right now, i’ll drive. but once you’re awake, it’s your turn.”
  • the foxes + abby + wymack all taught kevin how to drive, and although he passed his test on the first try, he is FAR from being a confident driver
  • being taught by the foxes was....an experience, but those are headcanons for another day
  • kevin debates pretending to just stay asleep but he knows wymack will call him on the bullshit so he kinda just sits in angsty silence
  • (inner monologue: “i never should’ve told andrew i want to spend more time with wymack telling andrew anything is a MISTAKE i should just stop TELLING HIM THINGS”)
  • wymack doesn’t try to get him to talk, but after about an hour and a half he pulls into a rest stop
  • “kevin. if you really, truly do not want to do this for the next ten hours, then i will not take offense if we call andrew and make him come and get you.”
  • neither of them say anything for a while, but then kevin slowly unbuckles his seatbelt
  • “i might need your help getting onto the highway.”
  • wymack is both surprised and relieved and now very, very nervous (not just because of kevin’s driving)
  • so kevin may have hit the curb on the ramp, but it’s fine!! wymack manages not to swear too loudly!!! and he merges lanes without a problem, even though the car behind them honked very angrily!!!!
  • overall a good start
  • “stop tensing up” “i’m not tensing up” “your knuckles are so white they’re about to call doritos spicy”
  • after about another 30 minutes he finally relaxes, and they start chatting about exy, which is a good safe topic can’t go wrong there
  • kevin gets super animated about which pro team he’ll eventually sign to in a few months and wymack mentions he can maybe spend his first season with matt or whatever team andrew ends up at
  • “actually, i’ve been thinking about it and i’d like to go somewhere alone. i’ve spent much of my life in the company of other people and although i deeply appreciate my more recently made friends, i think it’s time i experience the world on my own.”
  • wymack has never looked so proud in his LIFE
  • they stop at a few gas stations/rest stops and that’s how they learn each other’s favorite foods/snacks of choice (they both like bbq chips and share a giant bag for “economic reasons”)
  • kevin is honestly not that bad of a driver, he just gets nervous really easily and is surprisingly That Guy who lets everyone pass him/cut in line
  • wymack does the thing where he reaches over to honk the horn when kevin won’t and kevin gets mad at him for it
  • they bicker a few times about stupid stuff, but wymack always brings them out of it by *deep sigh* and then changing the subject
  • when they switch so kevin can take a break, he somehow ends up talking about evermore and wymack ends up talking about his parents
  • neil calls them when they’re a few hours away to make sure “everyone is alive” and kevin primly tells him “we’re doing just fine, thanks”
  • wymack pretends to scratch his face to hide his smile
  • when they’re reunited at the stadium with everyone else, nicky convinces wymack to go buy them snacks and he returns with bbq chips for kevin
  • usually in public kevin refrains from eating (especially junk food) because he doesn’t want the press to catch him in an unflattering moment, but he eats those chips immediately
  • andrew: “hm.”
  • kevin has a moment alone with matt to catch up afterward and he tells him about the road trip and matt tells him he’s super proud of him and glad it went so well
  • that night, kevin thinks about how even though he knows it wasn’t possible, he wish he had known his father sooner
  • at 5:30 a.m. the next day kevin stumbles on his own into the passenger seat of wymack’s car
  • wymack can sense kevin’s deep in thought, so they remain in comfortable silence for an hour and a half
  • until kevin turns to look at him and quietly says: “tell me about my mom”

Hear me out - Zuko and Toph could have had a life changing field trip arc in season 3

It would be perfect. Just a 2-episode arc where the gaang discovers the White Lotus broke Iroh out of prison, and Zuko and Toph, thinking the White Lotus kidnapped him, run off to save Uncle from the mysterious ~ Grand Lotus ~

The B plot is either old people shenanigans back at Lotus camp or the rest of the gaang figuring out the White Lotus are good guys and trying to catch up to team Impulsive and Violent before they wreck shop trying to save a man who has literally kidnapped himself.

Life Changing Field Trip || chiefironwall

With a reputation such as hers, it was no surprise that she was asked yet again to help train a group of officers. This time, however, she accepted. At least that's what Jinora heard as she eavesdropped on a conversation between the adults.

Being a child allowed her to hide somewhere and listen because she was small. Her quiet nature allowed for her to blend in even more because people would look right past her since 'Jinora never caused trouble'. So she heard a lot more than people thought. It worked well.

She waited until the next day before going to the Police Station and approaching the Chief. "Aunt Lin? Do you have a minute?"
