10/27/14 interview: Molly Soda and Labanna Babalon
(Molly and Labanna on the IRLALIENS tour, October 2013: Source)
When I heard that Labanna Babalon and Molly Soda were in Baltimore, I jumped at the opportunity to interview these two preeminent net artists at the same (damn) time. Labanna and Molly were in town thanks to Brooks Kosover, a young mover and shaker most recently responsible for the Terrault Contemporary space. Our interview took place in May of 2014 in the warehouse that was soon to be converted into the Terrault space. All items in italics/hyperliks are my notes, added for clarity.
How did you two start working together?
Labanna Babalon: We met online, as both of us were on the tip of girl love and anti-sororicide. I could see in posts that Molly made what I was thinking about, as she could see the same in posts I was making. That is how I have met many of my powerful goddess friends. We were pulling from the same cosmic cloud, even though it is very different in expression…
Molly Soda: Yeah. I also feel like we were coming from the same place but we were doing things differently. We knew each other online for a while before we collaborated. We met IRLin October when we went on tour with Extreme Animals, the IRLALIENS tour, sponsored by Rhizome.
Can you talk about your recent “A Beautiful Life” collaboration?
