Japanese major media reports SMAP will
break up due to the corrupted relationship between Masahiro Nakai (leader, one
of 2top of SMAP), Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Shingo Katori -vs-
Takuya Kimura (one of 2top).
However, fans and some
anonymous staff from the Japanese entertainment industry are beginning to
question and raise their voice on the internet that this whole thing was set up
by Johnny’s agency (the vice president of Mary, her daughter Julie, and their
supervisor, Ryuzo Kosugi- those who has ambition to take over Johnny’s agency
after president Johnny Kitagawa).
People are beginning to say
that SMAP (and just like their former manager Mrs. Michi IIjima) had been
left at the altar by them.
Johnny’s agency had a plan
to break up SMAP from beginning. They gradually cancelled each of the members
work schedules for this year.
According to Johnny’s agency, while Takuya Kimura (one of 2top of SMAP) was out
of the country, and the leader Nakai was absent due to his tasks as a Rio
Olympic official MC, the decision was made by the strong claim of the youngest
member, Shingo Katori who could no longer work with Kimura (and Kusagagi and
Inagagi supported Katori’s request).
This huge decision was made
so quickly without 2top member’s appearance and was officially announced only
few days after the acceptance of their request.
I won’t translate now about
what fans are discovering regarding the false facts that Johnny’s agency are
reporting to media here, but the more I research the more I discover the
darkness of Japanese entrancement industry, and how most major media are not
covering the truth.
Each Japanese major media
has representative staff to deal with Johnny’s agency. And because of the
relationship, they are controlled by Johnny’s command on what they are allowed
to report. Therefore, most of the information that the media covers is
biased by the agency. Until this moment, SMAP has never explained about what is
But many fans are aware that
SMAP had always said that they are not going to end SMAP no matter what
happened, until very recently. Each one of SMAP’s member often said how they
felt the importance of being SMAP and the existence of SMAP for people.
Some might say that they that
they are idols, and therefore they can act professionally and positively about
their identities as stars and icons.
I think that is true too. But no one knows
what SMAP are really thinking about. Being a symbolic icon for a longtime
without knowing the retiring deadline is tough— This maybe be similar to how
Heisei era might end soon, with Japan’s emperor possibly abdicating his
But Japanese people have long sensed that SMAP had been always fighting against
something big. And because of that, their bond and teamwork continued to appeal
to people’s minds and allowed them to exist for a long time.
This group has been active in the front-lines of the major entertainment scene
for 28 years. I cannot recall any other bands or group that existed for such a
long period of time being number one. It’s amazing and an unshakable
Also same for SMAP fans…
SMAP fans have been professional idol fans for 28 years. Because of the length
of fandom, their knowledge about each member is very keen. Fans will read, see
and think about each members of SMAP all the time, and appreciate the bonds and
their team work.
I hear more voices on internet from
anonymous identities saying that perhaps this could be the first and last
chance to change the corrupt industry of the Japanese entertainment world if
fans react and fight back by raising their voice.
This reaction may still be small to fight against a monster. And this idea of
rebellious action sounds very non-Japanese. But this is very interesting phenomenon.
SMAP has always been the pioneer of breaking the “stereotype” idea of
idol in the industry. In fact, this is why they became such huge stars.
So maybe now SMAP will revolutionize idol fans and
their behavior toward Japanese traditional media.
I would share this interview of cognitive science professor, Dr Tomabechi, who
talks how Japanese socially has never been changed since Moromachi ear no
matter how civilized system has been introduce into this country.
the world of entertainment industry especially, he says, is the world without
basic human rights. The relationship between the idol and their agency, are
same as Geisha and patron form the ancient time.
There is a petition at Change.org that makes the following request to the Japanese government and Tokyo mayor:
“Let’s withdraw the breakup of SMAP! Let’s demand normal management!”
This text on this Change.org page clearly explains how Johnny’s agency is one of the best articles that explains what really happened in chronological order with clear facts. Someone should really take the time to translated and distribute this text…
On Koyama’s radio, Shige talked about the time he went out for a meal with Masuda, Nakamaru, Inoo, Chinen and Keito from HSJ. Shige: Masuda invited Nakamaru-kun first, then asked if I was going as well. We went for BBQ that day. Truth be told, the reason why Nakamaru picked up the tab was because he lost to Masuda and me when we decided who had to pay for it. Sorry for exposing the truth, Nakamaru-kun. Shige: Nakamaru-kun is a serious person. And even though he’s older, I think he’s cute. He’s kinda peculiar (or unique) but yet approachable at the same time. I saw the Mt. Fuji drawing he drew, and it looked just like a picture! I like Nakamaru-kun very much and I know he’s a good friend of Massu. I’ve come to realize that spending time with Nakamaru-kun makes one feel relaxed.
Today is a special day for you, Satoshi. It ’s your 18th anniversary, the entrance to Johnny’s.
You were only 14 years, in 94 ’, you entered, “for a strange case of fate,” in a new world. You were the classic teenager by hidden talents for your shyness, you were like a fish out of water.
Two years later,
1996: make your first appearance in a musical: “Kyo to Kyo”, even though you was not the main character, and the very young age, you’ve made a perfect interpretation, making the musical a wonderful work. Not a lot of people noticed you, the theater was not crowded, but even so, you have not given up and have continued to do your best.
Your skill in dancing was now overt, but you asked advices to all, it will be for your modesty? who knows.
1999: The birth of your group, Arashi. Although for the game, you become the so-called “leader.”
You will do great things, you will become a real idol for many people, and all over the world. Finally everyone will know who is the real Satoshi: A man full of talents, but in spite of everything, you don’t consider yourself in this way, and still continues to be hard on yourself. A big mistake, I should say.
Toshi, I suck at writing “letters” I am a bit like you …. but I am capable to tell you, you’ve made me,the happiest girl in the world, for years you are helping me fight my hard battles, and to love life, just seeing you smile. You don’t know I exist, so my words sounds strange, but they are true.
I feel that sooner or later they will come to you, to tell you.
Thank you! for being the wonderful person you are
Thank you! to make me stronger and stronger every day
Thank you! for your hard work
Thank you! for your smile that light up my soul
Thank you! for your voice is always an inner pleasure to listen
Thank you! LEADER
the one who fishery
the one who draws
the one who loves eat
the one who acts like an adorable dork
the one who knows how to be a real man when he wants to!

エロP IS LITERALLY THE BEST CONCERT I'VE EVEN BEEN TO. IT HAS JUST BROUGHT ME SO MUCH HAPPINESS.
So two days after my first amazing EroP happening here, I returned to Yokohama Arena for Yamapi’s final performance there. My friend and I were just leaving the Seven Eleven next to the arena when I noticed that a lot of people were sitting down behind the railings blocking the doors to the arena. We asked one of the staff what was going on and he was so nice to us and said “I’m really not supposed to tell you this, but Yamapi is going to come outside so you should probably go sit over there”. We thanked him a million times and then ran to the gates and miraculously we were able to sit right up front. I took out my “I came here from America” uchiwa and we waited in the blistering heat for him to come out. When he finally did, everyone screamed as he walked by and said hi to everyone. He read my uchiwa again and I’m pretty sure he recognized it because of something that happened later during the MC. He took a megaphone and thanked everyone for coming and then a lot of cameras for magazines and whatnot came out and took pictures of him in front of his fans with an EroP towel. He was so close to me. He has been within 1 meter of me TWICE in three days. It was really exciting. So then we went inside and the concert started and everything was as amazing as 2 days ago, except a lot closer because I was in the Arena “A” area this time! Then the MC came around and he did a lot of impressions again at the request of us screaming fans. He did Lola, Donald, and Sugi-chan! :D Then all of a sudden he said someone special had come today and TACKEY CAME OUT ONTO THE STAGE. TAKIZAWA HIDEAKI. I was screaming at the top of my lungs. It was so amazing. He helped Yamapi in picking people to ask questions. But while Yamapi stayed in the center area, TACKEY CAME INTO THE ARENA! He was so close to me. I was close to crying. After a little while, Yamapi announced that someone else had come to see him. IKUTA TOMA!!!! He didn’t come to the stage, but he was sitting in his seat in the stands (for press and famous people and whatnot) AND HIS SEAT WAS SO CLOSE TO MY SECTION OF THE ARENA SO I COULD SEE HIS FACE AND EVERYTHING PERFECTLY. After seeing how close Toma was and how shy he looked when Yamapi pointed him out, I lost it and started crying my eyes out. I couldn’t stop for a full 10 minutes. My emotions were just everywhere and I couldn’t hold it all in! Yamapi also told us that one of the juniors from Bakaleya was there, but as I was crying, I couldn’t really hear the name and I could only see the top of his head from my seat. So then Tackey returned to his seat next to Toma (and put on glasses which made him look so damn adorable) and Yamapi did some more of the MC by himself. Then he said that he noticed that a couple people from overseas had come to his concert. My friend and I flipped out and screamed “I CAME HERE FROM AMERICA” waving my uchiwa like crazy. He then said “Thank you very much” in his adorable English and I died. In two nights, I was able to shake Yamapi’s hand and look into his eyes twice, then see him up close again, see Tackey fairly close, see Toma fairly close, see five juniors from Bakaleya, and be (kind of) mentioned and acknowledged by Yamapi! I AM SUCH A HAPPY PERSON RIGHT NOW. I cannot wait to go to Tackey, Matchy-san, and Sexy Zone’s concert/Hanabi event on the tenth! (Maybe Yamapi will show up…)
Let's just all think that Ryutaro's suspension is a test... a test of how strong HSJ is. NEWS has proven themselves before, now it's time for HSJ. To test if their fanbase and group is strong enough to handle this ;)
Tamachan had been center ever since 2009, i dont know why people are so surprise about that ><
And yes Tamachan maybe less of a singer or a dancer than Taipi and Mitsu, but He is a great actor, and He is a decent dancer, all kisumai members are! well Singing, he is trying! thats why he’s been taking singing lessons, he himself said he doesnt like his voice, Tamachan had improved so much and has proved himself over the past years, especially this year, he has lots of fans now, thanks to him and Ikemen desu ne, Kisumai is much more popular now that they were before, Its understandable why Johnny is making him the “face” of Kisumai.
I think we’re all mad about this ¾, because this is the first time Johnnys had 3 frontman s in a group. But Kisumai will grow out of this after the fans and the mass people of Japan will get to know the group a little better you wont be seeing that anymore, all of johnnys group started like that, of course theyre marketing the popular and well known members first so that they can lure the other members who are less known in.
