EPISODE 8 - “THANKS FOR NOTHING YA FAKES & THATS SUS AS SH*T ” - ANDREW
So I won immunity which is really just being a captain of another tribe and getting to pick the tribes. We all kind of saw it coming so its not like it was a shock or anything but I’m still a little disappointed. This could be good but I kind of really wanna make merge without going to tribal so unless there’s a double tribal, I want to win. I mean want to win either way but if there’s a double tribal I won’t care as much.
I picked Alex on my tribe because I figured he was the least neutral. I really want Drew and Chris on my tribe but I didn’t want it to be obvious. Plus I didn’t Andrew to know that he wasn’t actually my first pick. Andrew suggested I pick someone neutral who I would want to work with but it doesn’t present any red flags so immediately I went to Alex. And if he asks why I can just say “you had the next highest score” so there’s that.
Maybe I’ll get my first alliance on this new tribe so that would be cool.
Alright, so I’ve been absent from these confessionals for the past couple of days for unknown reasons. I do not know what those reasons are, but I’m sure that I am not excused.
At any rate, in the meantime we had to play some immunity challenges. Let me do a rundown, because that’s what you do in these confessionals, right?
So we played Snake and Lauren said that she’d sit out because she was feeling lazy. I was shocked. You know, because that’s kind of.. wow. Okay. I need to adapt this technique of sitting out, to be honest. I always feel so guilty when I sit out of competitions (even if I suck really badly at a competition) so to be able to just declare myself lazy and not play. That’s something I’m working toward.
There was no real help as far as ways to approach this challenge mentioned. It was snake, but with a mouse. And Sam briefly told me to circle the rim so I don’t run into myself or something. I did that and it worked out enough that our tribe was able to scrape the bottom of the barrel in the challenge again! Woot! We are the not worst, just above the underachievers!
Okay! So wow. The tribe that’s going to tribal is the beauties. It has Andrew, Billy, Kendall, and Punpun. I… don’t know how I’d feel if any of them left. On the plus side I think they’re all competition for the title of sole survivor so one of them leaving isn’t a bad thing. On the minus side they’re all people I could see myself working with if we end up on a tribe together.
Then! SHOCKER!! Billy stands and plays an idol and causes the blindside of Punpun! And I need to catch hold of myself! This is intense. And hilarious since Billy was literally the only one not to vote with the group and caused a blindside. Wow! He’s definitely here to play.
Next up we have a slide puzzle. Good golly gravy! I suck at slide puzzles. So I looked up some help for one because you know. I need all of the help that I can get. I found something super helpful! Which is awesome. So I shared it with my tribe.
Then things got awkward when the hosts called me a cheater or something. So…
And then a bit later I wasn’t? I dunno. As long as I’m not cheating. But I don’t think I did anyway. I’m so happy I shared that with my tribe because I think it helped in the winning process!
We got our first reward as a tribe since we finally stopped scraping the bottom of the barrel and (a bit earlier than this) Sam messaged me to say that she really wanted to work with me in this game and I felt that he feeling was mutual. She’s great at comps. She’s great at strategizing. She’s great at lots of stuff. There’s not really a minus there. So I agreed immediately and fully intend on sticking to this for as long as we can.
Also, the upside (as previously mentioned) we got a reward from the challenge and since Sam and I have now officially allied we agreed to share the clue if either of us got it from selecting our reward. Sam immediately shared the clue with me - and found the idol! She says it’s an “us” idol and I’d like to think that at this point she has no reason to lie to me. Yay!
So the vote came from the Okkan tribe that had three people in it Rhea, Jordan, and Taj. To be fair, I really wanted the vote to be Jordan because getting Jordan out before merge rarely happens and on a tribe that small it would be Rhea and Taj’s best bet because if they have to do tribal with either of them paired with Jordan then fire-making would likely result in Jordan winning. Not to say they didn’t stand a chance.. but Jordan is grossly good at flash games.
After Jordan left we found out that we had a merge with two individual immunities. Wow. Seems like fake merge probably. You know. Because fake merges are all the rage. Anyway. The game is Hold the Button. I’ve never actually played it, but from what Stevie said in Rakiura. I’m probably not a fan. I decided I’d hold the button for as long as I can and then started to theorize what our fake merge would mean.
My theory was that the people who won immunity - who’d REALLY want to win would become “the heads” of a reformed tribe and we would each go to a double tribal where they would be the only ones immune. I figured this was most likely since two immunities were given. I then thought we would go at least one more round as unmerged tribes before going back into merge. Maybe two.
So - Sam and Monty won the immunity challenge and Lauren left the game for personal reasons. Three in one season for personal reasons. I’m sad. I hope they’re all okay. Anyway, since Lauren left we avoided the mass tribal that we were going to experience and instead of the immunities having an impact Sam and Monty just got the power to be tribe captains in a schoolyard pick.
Immediately Sam messages me and asks if she should pick me first. I told her that she should probably pick one of the challenge threats first and then pick me - then we found out that OOPS! Sam wouldn’t be picking again. Luckily Alex likes me so he picked me. You know, because he likes me. It worked. And then I picked Drew - because we need to rock challenges. I think we will, Drew picked Kendall.
Also - WE’RE ON THE BEAUTY TRIBE!
It’s official. I’m the complete package. Brain, Brawn, and Beauty.
We found out that our challenge is now the music video challenge. I’m trying to self-soothe myself from these traumatic feels I’ve felt recently. Losing by basically one point for each of our recent music video challenges makes me exceptionally wary. I’m crying.
Also, I called the whole tribe out. Which may have been bad socially - but considering everyone waited until the last minute for the last challenge I don’t care. WE ALL NEED TO PARTICIPATE AND BE ACTIVE AND LIVELY AND CHALLENGE-ORIENTED!
I suggested we do the song from Beauty and the Geek that it opens up with because it mentions brawn and brain and even looks. So it fits the theme really well. Also, I think it’s an hilarious song choice. But I am rarely ever good at these sort of things. So… I’m probably wrong. Here’s a link to the song in case we end up changing from what I suggested:
I’ll try to update more often moving forward. Sorry for the timelapse and literal word vomit summary.
Me tryna bolt from this tribe because Kendall and Sam are separated from me:
God I’ve gone crazy. I need to find another idol so bad! I got the clue and I think I’m not gunna tell Chris about this one. He knows about one of them so if I can get a second one and not tell him then it’ll be perfect. I’m trying to think if anyone has gotten a clue for this because you wouldn’t be able to find it unless you got the clue or have gotten a previous clue and people searched for it without the clue… which I totally did not do… but anyways this whole “Rate Limit Exceeded” message is killing my soul. This one is SO much harder than the last one. This clue is just any merge boot which is A LOT of people. The other one was about Russell so I just went through his seasons and found it in like 10 seconds. GOD I wish this one was just as easy. Literally I’m using my phone and my computer and I’m about to whip out my moms computer so I can just get to it. I NEED THIS IDOL!!!
So anyways on a different note. I love my tribe! The only thing that would make it better would be Andrew! But I’m glad we have Taj so if we lose we have someone we can vote out. Because frankly I don’t care if he’s around or not. He would be someone good to have around during merge because he’ll be easy to beat in challenges but still. I really want to actually make an alliance. I wouldn’t mind an alliance of me, Alex, Chris, and Drew. I think that would be cool. But maybe I should actually start talking to Alex before I can propose an alliance? And I should check with Chris and Drew.
This game has released some kind of monster within me. I have this blog page and I can’t find the password. I’ve gone through every single merge boot and I haven’t found it! I must have misspelled it and didn’t realize because fuck like I was sure I would find it. I’ve literally gone crazy trying to find this.
Have even made a confessional yet? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well okay I’m in an alliance. Multiple alliances. But my main priority is Drew. Why? Because he still thinks I’m up to something. I’m not but I think it’s hilarious that he thinks he does it. It’s like Hitchcock’s theory of suspense.
“There is a distinct difference between “suspense” and “surprise,” and yet many pictures continually confuse the two. I’ll explain what I mean.
We are now having a very innocent little chat. Let’s suppose that there is a bomb underneath this table between us. Nothing happens, and then all of a sudden, “Boom!” There is an explosion. The public is surprised, but prior to this surprise, it has seen an absolutely ordinary scene, of no special consequence. Now, let us take a suspense situation. The bomb is underneath the table and the public knows it, probably because they have seen the anarchist place it there. The public is aware the bomb is going to explode at one o'clock and there is a clock in the decor. The public can see that it is a quarter to one. In these conditions, the same innocuous conversation becomes fascinating because the public is participating in the scene. The audience is longing to warn the characters on the screen: “You shouldn’t be talking about such trivial matters. There is a bomb beneath you and it is about to explode!”
In the first case we have given the public fifteen seconds of surprise at the moment of the explosion. In the second we have provided them with fifteen minutes of suspense. The conclusion is that whenever possible the public must be informed. Except when the surprise is a twist, that is, when the unexpected ending is, in itself, the highlight of the story.”
― Alfred Hitchcock
Now imagine there is no pay off. Imagine you are so stressed out and nervous and nothing ever comes out of it. I don’t particularly care about winning or being a strategic mastermind. What I want is to screw with people. Make them uneasy, make them scared.
Also we won immunity, yay.
Alright, so we were told what our challenge would be for this most recent immunity challenge. We were to make a music video as a tribe and immediately I had flashbacks to my most recent music video challenges.
I knew that something had to be said so in the chat I gave everyone one of those “stern talkings to” about how everyone needs to submit footage as soon as possible and we aren’t going to be screwing around waiting until the last minute. Waiting until the last minute would have killed me.
Then Alex starts messaging me, because my original idea for the song was not taken and asks what I would really like to do and push forward. He said:
Alex: You and I should just pick the song and figure out a plan
Alex: and if they don’t like it oh well
Alex: cause we gotta get something going
I told him that since our suggestions aren’t really working that we should come up with an upbeat song that is kind of well known, because I liked the idea of Beauty and the Beast but the song itself is too slow. Also, I’m a slut for Disney so you know I’d be on board for that.
I then suggested that would probably do “Two Worlds” from Tarzan since our tribe is divided down the middle with Brains and Brawns but decided that one is also too slow and not as well known… so I suggested Hercules and Alex suggested maybe something from Lion King.
He was really excited for Go the Distance and I was too a little - until I realized how slow and kinda “floaty” that song is. I shot it down and suggested we do Won’t Say instead (even though it’s totally irrelevant) but then we shot that idea down because of the irrelevancy. Oops.
I eventually told him that since we’re trying to keep our song relevant to our Survivor game that we should either do Zero to Hero from Hercules because it’s fun and upbeat and gets the message apart about sole survivors or we should do I Just Can’t Wait to Be King. Because we’re all getting ready to be crowned sole survivor.
He liked both ideas and said that when I went to work that he would ask everyone else to decide in the chat while I went to work. They voted and we decided as a tribe to do Just Can’t Wait To Be King. Which excites me because Lion King is a huge part of my life so I want to do it justice.
Alright, so it was kinda decided in a weird way (without asking me???) that I would be the one editing the videos together for our music video. I um… definitely did not want to be editor but felt that it was really too late to say otherwise at this point so I took it on and knew that at the very least - if we lost I had the safety of telling everyone I had to put the video together to keep me safe from the vote.
We decided since there were multiple singing parts in the song that two members of the tribe each would take on the roles. This would make two Simbas, two Zazus, and two Nalas.
Drew volunteered to be Simba.
Alex volunteered to be Zazu.
Kendall and Sam volunteered to be Nala.
I decided to wait until Taj made a choice and to just do the other one. But Taj didn’t get back by the morning I was planning on filming, so I took Zazu (because I had a nice blue shirt I wanted to wear and a tie to look like a “professional”) and gave him Simba.
Anyway, Drew and Alex were really on the ball with their videos and sent them almost immediately. Then I only had to wait for Sam, Kendall, and Taj. Sam told me that she would be working late and would get it as soon as possible. Kendall said she’d get it soon and Taj… kinda said he didn’t know what to do. Even though we had discussed it in the chat.
Kendall got her video to me and when Sam got off work she said she would work on hers! But - of course - she came across technical difficulties which kept her from being able to send me video footage. She asked that if instead it would be okay for her to make images with her face on the Lion King characters. I said that it would be perfect and planned to put them in places where we weren’t singing and so that she could be included.
A little bit around this time I began to harass Taj ever so slightly to ask what he’s even doing (because he had been online the day before and asked me what to do - and had told me that he was out but would work on something when he got back). He told me that he didn’t know what he was supposed to do so (since I’d already edited most of the video) I told him to do what Sam was doing and put himself on pictures of Simba. He told me he didn’t have any image editing software so I rolled my eyes and just made images of his face for him.
Because of this incompetence his name moved to the top of my list of who’s going to get voted off if we were to have had to go to tribal. Based entirely on conversation with him he has and will be incapable of finding an idol so the only fear I have for his safety in this game is he makes a relationship with someone who can. I’m sure that comes off rude, but really if I ask you multiple times to do “something” - please do it!
So the results were posted today and I’m thrilled that all of our time and efforts went into a win. Not a big win. But a win! Glad to have been safe because honestly, if we were to have gone to tribal I don’t know what our tribe would have done.
What I predict would happen is that I might have been approached as a swing vote for the Brawns. Kendall hasn’t made it a secret that she’s interested in playing this game with me and Taj keeps asking for an alliance.
I feel that I would stick with the Brains (at least Sam who I feel most comfortable with and who, at least on my end, we have a final two) if I had the opportunity to swing. But then there’s the problem of going to rocks -it’s messy and gross and I’m pretty sure that this group of people in particular wouldn’t include me in a tie vote going to rocks so I wouldn’t be safe.
If we stay in tribes after this tribal council (unlikely) and the Brawns approach me to vote out someone specifically I’m going to leak it to Sam and try and get her to use the idol on that person so we can avoid rocks. But, who knows if the Brawns would lie to me for fear of an idol. All of these uncertainties are exciting.
My apologies for being quiet on the confessional front, but the reason is simple: NOTHING IS HAPPENING
Here is the cycle for the past…since the game started:
- Get on tribe
- Be friendly with people
- Win challenges
- Little to no game talk happens
- New tribes!
Rinse & repeat. Not having to go to tribal is great and all…but it means nobody talks game which is soooooooo booooooring. Like yes I have alliances…but they haven’t been tested! And so often people who don’t go to tribal rely on people who aren’t trustworthy and then they get fucked come merge. So I’m just hoping that doesn’t happen here. I can trust my people….right?
TAG YOURSELF IM ME FUCKING FORGETTING THAT TRIBAL IS HAPPENING IN BURMA AND ITS IN LIKE 2 HOURS AND NO ONE HAS TOLD ME HOW TO VOTE WHICH BASICALLY INDICATES THAT ITS ME GOING HOME. THANKS FOR NOTHING YA FAKES. AND THANKS FOR NOTHING @ ME THIS IS A FUCKING CALL OUT POST TO KEEP TRACK OF ALL YOUR GAMES.
TAG YOURSELF IM FUCKING BILLY AND RHEA SAYING THEY DUNNO WHATS HAPPENING BUT THATS SUS AS SHIT BECAUSE NEWS FLASH THERES ONLY 6 PEOPLE ON THE TRIBE SO HOW YOU GONNA TELL ME HALF THE DAMN TRIBE DOESNT KNOW WTF IS HAPPENING. IF YALL KNOW WHATS HAPPENING YALL ARENT EVEN SUBTLE. AND IF ITS ME THEN JUST FUCKING TELL ME I DONT HAVE AN IDOL SO IM DEAD.
