“Oh come on Lucy! don’t be such a wuss!”
“Yeah Lucy! come join us!”
“Both of you, SHUT UP!”
So, yes, Lucy Heartfilia was not the most pacient person when it came to dealing with this annoying duo, but, can you blame her? They would drag her around in the promise of adventure when really, their ideas of adventure far differed from hers
“It’s just water Lucy, nothing’s gonna happen!” Natsu grinned mockingly “Look at Happy and I! we are both fine”
“Happy has wings and you have inhuman strength! I hardly find that a consolation when you are asking me to jump into the water with a 40 feet fall!” Lucy inwardly groaned ’Where does he get these ideas from?’
‘Lucy it’s fine! really! the water is super deep, I’ve done this dozens of times. Nothing is gonna happen"
“But…” she doubted. She really wanted to enjoy her time with them. They had finally found the time to relax and go on a nice and needed vacation after the intense missions they had gone through. She wanted to have fun with them ’but couldn’t we go to the beach like normal people?’
“Hey Lucy! Look, look! I’m an undewater ninja!” Happy immediately submerged, straw in his mouth as he swam just below the surface 'I guess that answers my last question’
“Lucy!” Lucy turned her focus to Natsu as he wiggled his arms, and most likely his legs but Lucy couldn’t tell, to keep his face above the water “Trust me! I’ve got your back”
The dragon Slayer saw his friend shuffle her feets, doubt still evident even if he couldn’t see her face properly given the distance and perspective
“It’s okay, trust me” His soft voice reached Lucy. It was that same smoky and deep tone he used to confort her, a tone he reserved just for her
“Alright…” she took a few steps back and prepared to jump, taking a huge breath before taking of in a sprint. As she reached the edge, her calfs contracted as they gathered the force to make the jump. Before she knew it, the feel of the coarse-grained rock at her feet was replaced by the feel of her whipping hair and the caress of the wind on her bare skin. She caught a glimpse of a grining Natsu before she made contact with the water.
It was deep, Natsu wasn’t lying. and she remebered what he had told her before they had reached the cliff
“Trust me Lucy! it’s worth it! you just jump and do gravity do the work for ya!”
“I don’t know Natsu…”
“And before you go back up, make sure to open your eyes, cause you don’t wanna miss it!”
So she did, and she found herself in an underwater paradise. The water did little to prevent the growth of any variety of plants, tiny fishes swimming around, ignoring her presence all together. The trees that sourrunded the lake allowed for some strikes of light to make their way into the water, creating a wide variety of colors and intensity like she had ever seen before. She noticed an underwater tree, that hugged the rocky wall which she had jumped from.
She must have been under more than she realized, for her best friend submerged to meet her eyes,a huge smile plastered on his face. She could practically here him say 'Told ya!’. She smiled back and made her way up. they both broke the surface, Lucy taking a huge mouthful of air.
The view there was just as breathtaking as it was below, the sky painted blue and beautiful tones of orange and pink, the sunset fast approaching. The burst of colours was all to different from the view above the cliff. The green trees all around made it seem like a secret sanctuary, where time was frozen still and nothing could harm them, the clear blue water felt warmer, because she got used to it, or Natsu’s doing, she had no idea.
“See? I told you it was awesome!” Natsu smiled as he threw his bangs back. He hated to feel his hair plastered to his forehead.
“Yeah” she felt silly as she giggled like a excited 5 year old “It’s gorgeous. Thank you Natsu, for bringing me here” she smiled softly at him, a peaceful gaze all to rare to see in their hectic lives.
“Always Luce” he returned. His eyes turned turned soft as he gazed at her deep brown orbs. Lucy felt her face heat up at the gesture. The glistening water reflected on her face, and the warm colors of the sunset turned her into a beautiful beam of light, her golden hair floating around. They smiled softly at each other while Natsu had to resist the urge to act on his desires. He wanted to take her hair into his hands and feel the softness in his fingertips, he wanted to keep his gaze on her as she peacefully admired the sunrise, he wanted to press his lips to her rosy plump ones.
“They liiiikeee each other” the all too well known rolling of the tongue broke them out of their reverie. Happy smiled at them with mischief as their cheeks turned an intense color red.
They smiled as they shared one last look before laughing at their blue haired companion.
Neither of them denied it.
