I hate when you do this to me - you know full well I’ve got early starts and cat handle the angst rn 😭
But imagine how painful the sting in your chest would feel like when Ethan said:
“S’not as good as a Rolex? Like dude! Look at that thing!? All I got was a book” and yes. It was a book. But a book you’d worked hours on instead of your literature assignment that was due Monday 8am.
Ethan knew, he knew you didn’t have money. He knew those student debts were consuming you wholeheartedly yet he chose to do nothing about it. Was he obligated to help? No.
Was he obligated to adore the present you’d put so much time and effort into? No.
But to you? It was more valuable and sentimental then some stupid Rolex. Which Grayson already had! If it was you? You would’ve gotten him that nice Dimond one that he’d been looking at. But I guess even that didn’t matter because the only thing that did was the fact you couldn’t afford one.
“Ethan bro, don’t you think you’re been a little harsh? Y/n obviously spent time on this like—“
“It’s just abit cliche Gray”
Yep, that was it. So you pushed yourself off the wall you were leaning on, stopped your tears as your heart strung, grabbed your handbag and keys and dipped. The vegan cake you’d made? Still in the fridge.
By the time you’d gotten home Ethan had realised you weren’t at his. He’d looked high and low for you.
“Anna? Ave you seen Y/n?” He asked Graysons girlfriend just above a whisper.
“Saw her leaving a little while ago? Why? She not back yet?”
It was only when he pulled his phone out to call when he was the message.
Y/n: “I thought our memories were priceless”
Have you ever done something out of spite? In spite of love? Because you found yourself looking at that Dimond Rolex, checking your credit history, checking how much debt you had to pay. And yet you still did it.
“Yeah, yeah just that one thanks.” You sighed. Signing your paperwork. Boxing up the expensive watch that broke your bank. God you hated him. You hated to love him in this very moment.
Leaving it on your kitchen bench before locking your bedroom door. Knowing full well Ethan would be around. Leaving it nicely presented.
“Happy birthday Ethan”
